County best form in unprecedently tight table

283

Would it upset your equilibrium if I said Ross County are the only team in the league to have won their last three games?  By definition, we play the form side in the division tomorrow.  You think we have plenty to play for?  County are one of six teams competing for three spots in the top half of the table – that’s bonus payments in the pocket of players who will appreciate them.

They came to Celtic Park last season bottom of the table and comfortably knocked a dispirited Celtic out of the League Cup.  Few of the players who will play in green and white tomorrow will relate to that game, but it will be front and centre of the minds of County players.  If they can do it when they were so poor, they can do it tomorrow.

The remaining fixtures favour Celtic: five at home and three away, the assumption being we will win at Celtic Park.  Leagues are won and lost in these weeks, in a unprecedently tight table, no result can be taken for granted.

  2. My first job while at school was as milk boy in Drumchapel. Got many tips every week. Brilliant.

Next job was collecting football coupon money on a Friday night across Clydebank. Again got many tips and ocassional glass of sherry.

My first job was a Turner at the docks. When the ships came in I turned them round and pushed them back out again.

The very place — A bus runs through it !?!.

Your river flowed the wrong way so it was — from a Kiltoon perspective — part of another world.

Plus you all spoke with a twang — the Glasgow accent runs out just after the Banton unless you were overspill from Denny.

Had an uncle who hailed from there — married my mum’s sister.

He was the black sheep of a very large extended family and it must be said quite a few villages.

In an earlier life he had emigrated to Aus.

Was encouraged — paid seemingly at the point of a shotgun — to return home.

Responsible father acting in the best interest of his big teenage sprog by all accounts.

And that was just him warming up.

  5. Then I left school to go to Glasgow Uni, which was a bit of a disaster for me since

I hardly went to any lectures or tutorials. Spent most of my time in the Union Bar.

I was suspended for a year and never went back. I think my Class Ticket still applies should I wish to go back.

  6. “My paper round extended from Paisley Road West, at it’s junction with Penilee Road ( prefabs, then bungalows )”

That should have read, “junction with Hillington Road”

In my defense, it wisnae exactly yesterday.

  7. No early doors milk runs for me, though I did it once for a week as a favour, no paper round all the way , and not for a newsagent, no, own run, supplied direct to the house, evening papers only the Times and the Citizen, the Pink and the Green on Saturday nights. No Sundays! Did a bit o digging too, back gardens mainly, in the days when a spade was called a spade. “Give us the tools and we’ll finish the job” that was our motto.

    Different times.

  8. Hi Bhoys

At 14 worked on a farm pre packing packs of potatoes for the shops decanting 4 stone bags into various bag weights. Then loading 40 ton lorries to send out on their deliveries. That was after school. Then at 15 also had a milk round in the morning with co op in lady lane Paisley double delivery on Saturday. Had 3 high flats on the round and every f ****** Saturday the lifts were broke due to drunken bums pissing in them and the electrics not working. My mum told me how much money she was taking from me I never had a say in the matter. Left school first pay £18 mum took £12.

    Lucky me 😀

  9. It’s just my humble opinion, but if we want to progress in Europe at ANY level, we need an eat his granny def mid player, one who has been and gone and done it, been saying it for years, CalMac is not that player, neither was Broonie.

I believe that James McCarthy was supposed to be that player, I also don’t believe he is an Ange signing else he would have started way more games, pity as I had hoped that he would have been.

We get one of them and I honestly believe that Europe is not beyond us.

There will be a fair few available soon enough for free, but we will prob have to weigh in heavily for wages, but it all depends on what the suits want, Ange like all the rest of our managers are trying to work with at least one hand tied behind his back, given that he is doing a wonderful job, back him and watch us grow.

  10. Steak Pie without sausages, what muppet came up with that Abomination!

Conglomerates have a lot to answer for. Thats right they are not answerable to.

I said Karamoko would start, now that Jota is available I think the wee chap will be on the bench but will get plenty Time on the Holy Ground.

It should be a cracking game the morra – RC have Superb Supporters. The Referee will likely spoil the game, not 1 (top flight) Referee is fit for purpose. Thats telling.

Would that be the same Ross County supporters who were caught on video screaming “Ya dirty fenian b******s” after big Tony scored the stoppage time winner up at Dingwall?

Ideguchi could have been that man but was “robustly tackled” and sidelined for a few months

He may still step up but has lost the initial chance to impress and gain momentum

  14. Bochum vs Borussia Munchengladbach abandoned after an hour with away team leading 2-0. Apparently, a linesman was struck on the head by an object thrown from the crowd.

  15. Keith,

It’s not easy to find a player that has to almagamate taking the ba’ and breaking the new style (high press) and being a defensive Force.

Not so sure, the game sure is a changing…. Not quite getting to the most skilled player is the goalie!

    …………………………………………………………………………………

I’d hazard a guess they urnae proper County Supporters. Everyone I’ve spoken to has been first class.

Oh and btw what an Important goal.

Josip is obviously Numero Uno right back but Anthony has been awesome this Season.

Tom McLaughlin…are you going to tar the whole Ross County support because of a few daft wee boys? Isn’t that what’s happening with our own support? Blaming the whole for the indiscretions of a few…

  18. Mod1888

Maybes Ange had him lined up for the role, but I still don’t believe he is strong enough for the gig, he just seems too nice, he is in the CalMac mould for me, don’t get me wrong, I hope he makes it esp after that challenge, he failed at Leeds but he has obviously matured since then and Ange for sure rates him else he wouldn’t have bought him, but I just have ma doubts sadly that he will make it in hammerthrowing land.

There are still plenty around, the Balkans for example are full of them, as is France and Spain, we will see what the summer brings.

When we got knocked out the SC at hampden, we left after the game to Montfords pub. Had plenty of RC fans and mixed well with the bhoys.

Must say never seen a support with such gid looking women😱👏👏😂😂😂😂

  20. Keith,

I’m very excited about this Season but next Season is off the scale, if I think like you do, the business. Just Deelighted there wullnae be a Covid vaccine requirement to get a ST.

  21. Also had a – short-lived – milk boy run in the village.

Fellow MBs weren’t happy that the fenian/pape had to leave a tad early every morning [my school bus had to travel 9 miles as there was no local kafflik skool]. The day I got a punch in the mouth for being a fenian as I hopped off the float’s back step was my last! Instead, started caddying which was better money and no hassle [cept from the Blantyre boys].

Re BRRB’s septic tank quip…fell into a below-ground one at a summer job, after some tool forgot to replace the grate. Worked a full summer’s day in overalls, red Ys and wellies; didn’t last long there either :(

    First jobs?

Four years doing a Sunday paper round.

At same time valeting cars on a Saturday for Arnold Clark @ £1.67 an hour.

Bought the paper round for £40 from an older boy.

    “Clients” spread far and wide.

Horse traded “clients” with other paper boys who lived closer to them in exchange for their “clients” who lived closer to me.

In the end, my entire round was the street I lived in.

    Bliss.

Question for all ex-paper boys out there?

Did you have that one customer who was never in when you went for your money ….

… So missed paying for weeks on end …

… then when you finally got him after 4 weeks he tried to haggle it down to 3 ?

    Or was that just me?
