Celtic have it within their power to send those two comedians packing.

They have been allowed to continue with their charade for far too long.

The wee clubs can make statements, and speak of their discontent from now until doomsday, but it makes little odds.

When, and if Celtic decide to speak – people will then sit up and take notice.

It’s about time now that Lawwell started to dictate the agenda.

It’s time for Celtic to call the shots.

“Celtic have it within their power to send those two comedians packing.”

    No, they don’t.

Celtic’s aim is to have Newco in Division 3. For that to happen, a majority of SPL clubs had to vote down their application. Now a majority of SFL clubs is needed to turn down the Doncaster/Regan/Longmuir plan to have them in Division 1.

Celtic have played a blinder thus far in keeping silent. The minute they make their views public, a headline will appear saying ‘Celtic bully SFL clubs into voting out Rangers’ – see the usual tabloid suspects.

Spoke to Joe breifly in the Thorniewood club at the Jinky memorial garden event. Still had that big grin on his face. Great Celt, great player & striker, a true gent!!.

Was at the game when he sustained that horror injury. We all knew it was a bad one. How many wd Joe have scored that season? God only knows.

ps I could never understand why Celtic let him go as he went to score lots of goals elsewhere!!

You left Paradise to early Joe but Im sure you are in Paradise now with Jinky. Ronnie, Bobby, Willie & Big Jock and other great Celtic players. YNWA RIP

    Brillliant post.

Was born in the 80’s and it’s fascinating to hear about the team in the years lading up to ’67. Could listen to these stories all day long.

I hope to be able to tell youngsters in 40 years time about the great Hernik Larsson.

McBride is a fascinating figure in Celtic’s history. Like you say, unique in the sense of having such a distinguished status despite having played so few games.

  9. RIP Joe! Never seen you play, but sounds you were more than decent!

    Paul, Nice video mate!

  10. up-over-goal

Exactly. The MSM are just waiting, hoping that Celtic FC make a statem, ent, any kind of statement about the SFL?Sevco situation, and they’ll be off and running with the tales of big, bad Celtic.

Last Thursday after the SPL vote the headline, at the very top of page 1 in the Herald was “Celtic: why they voted Rangers out of the SPL”. That’s exactly what we’re up against and all those who have been calling on Celtic to make a statement over the last few days should keep that in mind.

  11. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

Enjoyed the video Paul, would be good if they became a regular feature.

    neveralone

    I enjoyed reading that,Hail Hail.

  12. This is beyond farce. Another delay possible ? And until Sevco are forced into SFL1 they won’t deal with who will be Club 12 in the SPL? It could be July 20th before they know. I don’t understand why these teams are not screaming blue murder (literally!). How are they supposed to prepare for a season when they don’t know where they are playing?

The Livingston chairman says he will continue to lobby against Sevco in SFL1. Raith and others continue to rail against it. But where are the SPL voices? Why can’t we have a statement from Celtic pointing out that their has been no discussion/agreement with SPL clubs on re-formatting the leagues and that the decisions should not now be rushed through in a poisonous atmosphere of accusation and recrimination? No need to mention Sevco at all.

If all the plans of Doncaster/Regan/Longmuir are the work of out of control administrators, why aren’t they being brought to heel privately or failing that publicly? Then their positions would be untenable and their plans scuppered.

Is there hope that the SFL clubs will just do the ‘right thing’ if we just keep our heads down and say nothing? And then no one (i.e the fans) can blame us. I think there is tacit acceptance and Doncaster etc are doing the dirty work and taking the flak.

I did state that the club should wait until after Friday’s vote before moving against those two incompetents.

“The Celtic Football Club consider Doncaster and Regan to be no longer fit for purpose, due to their continued incompetence and gross misconduct.Their positions are untenable. They have made the Scottish game a laughing stock. They are an embarrassment to football.Go now,or face court proceedings.”

Clarification needed please. Is it a bit premature to celebrate the SFL clubs announcing they intend to vote no to newco in league one?

Doesn’t the motion ask them simply if they will vote to allow newco into Div 3 with the caveat that Doncaster will then overrule and plop them into Div 1 anyway? If so the clubs will have to refuse to vote altogether in order to put Doncaster and Regan in their place.

Or have I totally misread the situation as per?

  27. I would like Mr Doncaster to prove to all of us he’s not a liar.

Cast your mind back to November last year Neil and recall your ‘preferred’ new clothes: a 10-team SPL etc.

Now show me your integrity and keep selling this idea; go to your member clubs, go to the SFL’s David Longmuir and go to Stewart Regan before tomorrow’s SFL meeting and tell them: do what you want, but at the end of next season, the only show in town is 3 down from the SPL and 1 up from the SFL, thereafter we will have a ten team league.

If you have even the slightest shred of integrity, you will stick to your belief from last year that a 10 team SPL is the way forward.

Just make sure you make this clear to everyone before tomorrow’s vote, eh.

An extract from RTC below, sums things up quite well I think

“Funny that Messers Doncaster & Regan find it so easy to predict the effects of Sevco Ltd playing in SFL3, but could not use these same skills to anticipate Rangers’ implosion. Even when the aforementioned ‘internet bampots’ had warned years earlier of a crisis brewing at Ibrox, the men with the crystal ball today were unable to see something that was so obvious.”

Every instinct I have is telling me Celtic are doing the right thing with regard to Sevco, but I am struggling to reconcile this with the fact that Doncaster must be acting with the full support of the SPL board and clubs. Is there any info you can provide that would go some way to resolving this paradox?

I wonder who the panel were that interviewed Doncaster and Regan, and who decided to appoint them?

Could Ogilvie have been involved in the selection process?

  35. I don’t see that the authorities are acting with undue haste to change things in Scottish football.

Don’t you know that the SFA, SPL and SFL have been working on these reconstruction plans for the last two years?

The fact that the proposals are completely different from what they originally wanted, that they are ready for implementation now and that sevco need a quick entry to the SPL are entirely coincidental!
