CQN Vanessa Riddle Fundraiser

1180

I’m enjoying the chat as much as anyone these days but I know you all remember what were really about as a club.  We have an update on the CQN Vanessa Riddle pop quiz fundraiser which will be held at Jury’s hotel, Glasgow on the evening of Saturday February 11.

The great news is that Frank O’Hagan has agreed to come along and do a set to close the quiz off. Frank’s third CD – Green Light to Freedom – will be mixed and mastered in the studio over the next month. Frank is also doing a concert with his band in the Backstage at the Green Hotel, Kinross on Saturday 18th February. Details are on Frank’s website web. Frank is a top class musician is a terrific live performer. He is also a lovely guy, so we’re just absolutely over the moon to have Frank along. Our good friends at Carling are donating some prizes too, which is also excellent news.

We have some spaces left so if you want to come along, visit Taggsybhoy’s music quiz homepage and contact him with your team name and numbers (max of 6 to a  team). He will let you know if you are successful. It is first come, first served. Vanessa Riddle Appeal

I’m off to contemplate the false value of cheap laptop hard disks. One day lost and counting, damn you HP!

That caller was correct and research must be done regarding attendances in the 1980s for football clubs up and down the country to see where we lie.

One fella on here was telling us all that Hearts’ attendances went up in the season that Romanov took over and they have retained a lot of those fans who wouldn’t have been there before.

A study into Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hibs and Hearts from 1980 – 1987 must be the starting point and indeed clubs like St Mirren must be included.

Cross reference this with cup runs from the current sides and you’ll see a pattern – when there is a chance of winning, they come.

  2. time for change on

    There is no Old Firm

Listening to the ‘car crash’ radio phone-in on Clyde…..oh dear….sound bites that answer nothing…….guests on the defensive.

Well done that fan from St Mirren the league about other teams as well.

We all need Rangers don’t think so!

    Hail Hail

  3. Its out Sky value Celtic and would probably try to ship them to the English league if Rankers go tits up

  4. ASonOfDan, would I knight Craig Whyte? Absolutely. If he does what I think he’ll do I’d canonise him!

bournesouprecipe, pleased you’re back. Your fans were lost without you.

  5. Second last caller there, hanna let someting slip there me thinks, caller saying we don’t need thems, right of course.

That is exactly what he said. Sky value Celtic and would try to move them to the English leagues. This is just after stating that he has inside info on the current TV deal with the SPL -basically Sky have no real interest in Celtic V St Mirren games for instance.

  9. Quick question, what happened to Myths poodle Durant?

Is he still there or has he moved on?

He sid that SKY value Celtic highly and that they would probably try to get Celtic into England because they value Celtic against Liverpool, Man Utd etc and although they value us against the likes of St. Mirren they would probably offer a lower TV deal for the latter. This was all on the premise of there not being a Rangers any longer.

  12. craig whyte could indeed be ‘one of us’ playing the game of all of our lives!….that would be something if he was infact a celtic man all along…..im sure we have all said in our youth when asked what you would do if you played for rangers or indeed england….i always replied with a fantastic tale of a spectacular own goal .

this could be the boardroom equivalent.!

  13. Do we really think that if the Sky deal is terminated then there will be no other tv deal? Really? Some other company would doubtlessly take up the coverage of SPL games if Sky walked away completely. Yes, I accept that the SPL’s bargaining position is shot to pieces, but some sort of deal will be set up. It will probably still be Sky but on reduced terms. Far too much is being made of the “NO TV DEAL” propaganda. But then that’s what all this is going to boil down to; propaganda.

I have heard in the past that the championship would be the destination, with a caveat that we have to stay there for a required time, bring it on I say.

Could this be the reason they are all kacking themselfs ?

Celtic ride off into the sunset and leave the sectarian bile behind so they can all wallow up to their knees in it, maybe there will be justice after all.

    Over to you Dermo.

Celtic should look to do what Barca and Real Madrid do and seel their own games. I am not 100% sure but i think we would make more money doing that then from what we currently receive from our share of the SPL Sky deal. If Rankers go bust we would be in a very very strong position to demand our own TV deal from the SPL. We get 100% rights to our home games – away games percentages of who get what revenue could be discussed and agreed.

  18. One point not mentioned too often is the immense value of cup competitions for the rest of the SPL without the huns. Without them there will always be a easier route to the final, i.e. the better clubs could almost guarantee at least a couple of trips each to Hampden (if you include semifinals), with the plus of a potential European spot if we were to slip up.

  19. Life after Rangers….

Can we have sponsorless shirts, pay at the gate including unemployed, terracing, bevvy in the concourse and loads of home grown talent?

  21. Sir Roger Casement on

Don’t post much….loving this, we where down and headline”RIP CELTIC” photo of a hearse is record back-page, followed by Fergus McCann and saddam hussien “WHOS’ THE MOST HATED.”

Murray =” I wil only sell to someone with rangers in mind” whtyte recieves £24.5 million and buys the barra for £1…..he’s got them in mind for a strip that will see their demise.

If any true Celtic fan thinks we need them, I dont understand why, we,scottish football,or europe would see their end as anything but a move forward towards a more enlightened and tolerant future…..a slow lingering death will be the probable, but a quick demise preferable.

  22. Don’t bother, huns, trying that “we need each other” stuff.

We don’t, and so bye bye.

  23. Amadeus …………….hook line and sinker!

Absolutely agree that in an ideal situation we should do this. I believe that Celtic fans would respond very well to that, but I think SPL rules prevent us from doing this currently. I think if we needed other SPL teams on board for the situation of living without Rangers then we would need to take part in a bigger picture deal (to our own financial detriment).
