CQN Vanessa Riddle Fundraiser

1180

I’m enjoying the chat as much as anyone these days but I know you all remember what were really about as a club.  We have an update on the CQN Vanessa Riddle pop quiz fundraiser which will be held at Jury’s hotel, Glasgow on the evening of Saturday February 11.

The great news is that Frank O’Hagan has agreed to come along and do a set to close the quiz off. Frank’s third CD – Green Light to Freedom – will be mixed and mastered in the studio over the next month. Frank is also doing a concert with his band in the Backstage at the Green Hotel, Kinross on Saturday 18th February. Details are on Frank’s website web. Frank is a top class musician is a terrific live performer. He is also a lovely guy, so we’re just absolutely over the moon to have Frank along. Our good friends at Carling are donating some prizes too, which is also excellent news.

We have some spaces left so if you want to come along, visit Taggsybhoy’s music quiz homepage and contact him with your team name and numbers (max of 6 to a  team). He will let you know if you are successful. It is first come, first served. Vanessa Riddle Appeal

I’m off to contemplate the false value of cheap laptop hard disks. One day lost and counting, damn you HP!

Hi Lana, are you the Lana I met a few years back in The Savoy ?

  6. yes, starry, they spat at us, but we did not fall,

    we stood tall

you were braver than I was, but I still had your back,

that is to my favour, and it was worth it,

I have no time for the itinerants demanding quick answers,

I applaud us old Jungle bhoys,

we have waited a long time for this moment,

our lives were made a misery by the hun,

now the hun must settle his bills and face facts,

to our credit, we never once wavered,

    and we won’t start now.

Some may have scars from the hun, others may have suffered by the oppression, be it jobs, life, or just day to day bigotry.

We are glad to bear witness to their demise.

We don’t have to say “no surrender”, because we never did.

The trick is not to have to say it.

    Bring on the denouement!

    Oui, monsieur.

I’m John, Granda was John, Uncle is John and cousin is John.

Used to be big John and wee John until wee Johns grew bigger than big Johns…….

Then it was auld John and young John.

After you’ve typed John quite a few times it starts to look like you;ve spelled it wrong……………wierd (or weird?)

  11. scottish football either changes or dies, tbh i dont think we will sit back and accept our own death

if it is true that all other clubs need rangers and attendances fall, no t.v income then many clubs will need to become part time,

if celtic fans stop attending away games this would damage all other clubs further

think such a case would give us ligit reason for applying to enter another league and we, i believe, would have grounds to be confident of a positive outcome

  12. I saw this on RTC, the poster has one or two things right :>)

A poster on Rangers rumours explains all in a most erudite and eloquent manner:

I have tried to post the FULL details of what Whyte and Ellis and Hughes and more crooks like King etc all now attached to Glasgow Rangers FC – FRAUDULENT COMPANY

They are actively carrying out what is known as a Long Firm or ‘LF’ as it is known as in criminal circles (Google Kray twins or New York mafia scams).

The principle aim is to bulls**t all decent people concerned with the company (Rangers fans and shareholders) for as long as possible whilst milking every possible asset (credit as in ticketus and player sales as in Jelly, also secure assets on CREDIT such as Shagger Davis and Whitts) all to be sold off over a period of time one by one just prior to Administration or at a point when ALL lines of credit are ceased

Ultimately the ‘FACE/FRONT’ – Whyte is a presentable apparent shining knight that appeases for as long as possible with diplomatically worded ppress releases whilst ONLY paying MUST PAY bills to maintain the credit rating of the ‘MARK’ – Rangers

This IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING and due to the heavy gangster element in background Ally cant say jack s**t – you understand now why he lying to us he is scared

ONLY hope is police come in before they walk/run to hide behind the offshore companies so cleverly set up to hide monies pilfered as your man above has said check out all links between shady f***ers linked to Whyte Ellis Ticketus and Collyer ALL LINKED AND A MAJOR SCAM

been listening to the radio shows since the stuff about the rangers has been getting said. it is good to hear so many celtic fans have the same opinion as me and be brave and loyal to the club enough to go on radio and tell the truth. we need the rangers. they should be helped out or the whole game that we all love to watch will just die i reckon. gordon deel on that radio clyde speaks alot of sense for a hun and so did that roger hana tonight. these guys are both adamant that we need rangers. tell you what that is good enough for me. these guys know more about the game than we can ever hope to know. they are right wired in about the scene and now the nuts and nails about the scottish game. when they speak we should all listen. there is no way they would have the jobs they have if they didnt know their stuff. i think we need to start lsitening to them. they were right about the leeg too. it isnt finished. the rangers scored 4 times with jela at the weekend and they have big kyle coming back. they are still a top cupboard side and i fear lennon not getting the striker he caved for so much might cost us the title. they are still dangerous. you know what they say about how dangerous a coupled animal is. the rangers are coupled the now but i think they will be back. alisdair knows the comings and toings of that club too well not to turn things up. if we dont win this leeg though there will be no hiding spot for the board and lawel and lennon. there will be blood on the curtains and i will be in the car park

    I have read that before.

But who in their right mind would try and do it at a high profile club like the huns, unless they are as stupid as they are, or not as the case may be.

I agree that England is not the solution.

There is a train wreck waiting to happen down there and although some can see it there is little that they can do about it. Some are openly discussing the notion that the Russian league could well be the best in the world within the next 5 years– both in terms of salaries and competition.

The league cup in England has seen the TV money drop to a third– A THIRD— of where it was two years ago.

    The league will follow suit.

My money man – Fatty from issue two of CQN magazine pointed out that for most teams in the EPL, each and every year they spent ALL the TV money and more on buying players. In other words, that money was as well not being there! They bought players– had the cash to buy them– so as to try and compete! But they couldn’t compete with the big 4 and they did not have the cash to pay the players wages year on year.

So they hope they buy wisely and are able to sell on someone at a profit and then replace him cheaper. Then they hope they stay up and get next years TV Money and so it goes on until a year when money dries up and so they spend nothing, sell who they can and then accept relegation and the parachute payments.

Check out the cycle of relegated teams.

Whatsmore, loads of these clubs just do not have enough fans to come through the door and put their bums on seats.

That is where the real revenue is– cash on a Saturday, season tickets, merchandise, food, drink,– in other words people.

Man Utd get it right because they have a volume of traffic through the door.

Chelsea don’t so rely on Abramovitch.

Arsenal moved to the big stadium to increase the bums on seats but have debt to pay back.

Teams like Everton, Stoke, Blackpool, Wigan, Wolves just don’t have the numbers and when the TV money goes down that league will fall apart in terms of finance and quality reasonably quickly.

At that point, a more level playing field exists and in terms of numbers through the door, entry to the big stage in Europe, the ability to build, nurture, mature and develop a squad— I would be for sticking here unless there was a dramtic change somewhere.
