Defences, views and runs

We can take some comfort in the fact that Salzburg have lost three games on the bounce but they sit in second spot in the Austrian Bundesliga, Celtic are fourth in the Scottish Premiership and have won only one of their previous five games.  The Austrians will see just as much comfort in our form.

Success on Thursday will be determined by who manages to overcome their frailties most effectively.  As far as Celtic are concerned, that will mean trying to find the kind of defensive performance that we put in last season.

Our reason for most confidence should be the speed which we can break at, and Salzburg’s only defensive issues.  They shipped three goals to Sturm Graz and Malmo in recent outings.

Many thanks to everyone who has already taken our ‘Who we are and Our Values’ survey, it took just over 1 hour to register 1,000 submissions.  It’ll take you little more than 5 minutes to share your view on some important matters, take a look here.

I’m a wee bit late to the party but I’ve signed up for the Great Scottish Run on 5 October to assist Celtic Foundation’s work in the areas of health, equality, poverty, and learning.  If you’ve already registered with the event, or you have a pair of trainers and an outrageous disregard for the aging process, get involved.

You can register for the Great Scottish Run here and with the Foundation be emailing them, details here.

This is our club, they are your trainers, that is your outrageous disregard for the aging process.  Let’s do it.

There is no major party at present that I would give my vote to so it would go to the Greens or an Independent until such times as a radical new socially fair party emerged.

The main thing is to get independence then get sorted.

I will consider the policies of all the parties putting candidates up in my area.

    then i will decide.

My hope is that Scottish Labour will rid themselves of the eejits they have at the helm and produce a new crop of proper labour politicians but honestly i do not see them recovering from this for a minimum of 10 years – in the event of a YES or NO vote.

Unlike you though I will accept the decision either way and move on. i will expect no Vow of promises to be administered as WM will block progress or slow it down to a snails pace until it is a distant memory.

Liek you I will fear for my sons future in the UK as I have done since the day he was born as the gap widens between those in power, the establishment, the bankers, politicians, elitists and large companies who will just keep asking for the population to bend over and take another one and like you they gladly will with a large gaping smile.

I hereby formally designate you as CQN’s much loved and oft needed Greek Chorus…..

‘The style was to comment on what was happening in the play, and help the audience know what a character was thinking. The chorus offered background information, summaries and comments. In many of these plays, the chorus told the audience what the main characters could not say, such as their hidden fears or secrets.’

    HH,

  12. I have no idea who will win. I know how I want to win but that is not a measure.

If Scotland votes YES then it is exciting, fresh and new and a new start for everyone.

The confidence of the nation and its people will rise. The joy will carry the day and the future will seem less daunting and more possible.

If we vote NO the nation will see a decimation of its self confidence. Our self-respect will vanish and be replaced by self-loathing and constant belief in our inadequacy and reaffirmation of that will be delivered daily in the media.

    Forget the parties tomorrow.

It is what you want for yourself, your family, your friends, neighbours, co-workers and fellow citizens that matters.

If you vote YES and we make a success of it or we fail we will have no more false measurements, no one to blame and no one to congratulate but ourselves.

If we vote NO then we face a future of being told we are less than we think we are or should be by people who do not care about us and only want to hang on to us to exploit what they can get out of us.

Vote with your heart but know too that if you want something enough, you can make it work.

The question is do we want to do it and do we believe in ourselves enough to do so?

    Hail Hail

    P.S

In the first election in an Independent Scotland I will vote for who I deem best fits my aspirations.

I wish Jim Sillars would stand but he is now retired and I say good luck to him in whatever he does for the rest of his life. God bless him and Margo.

I hope they can meet again and that they can embrace and say we did it.

That’s a cop out, and you should be ashamed mate.

The same as WMD, you are asking your kids to take a leap in the dark without a thought through plan, that’s irresponsible.

You cannot have Independence without control of your currency.

Where are all these ‘left leaning’ leaders going to come from?

As Foot, Kinnoch and Smith discovered, you tell people you are raising their tax and you will not be voted in.

A learned lady from Edinburgh Uni researched that the Scot’s thought they were more left leaning than others, we are not.

It’s not that long ago the Tory’s held the whip hand in Scotland, Scotland (like the rest of the UK, is small ‘c’ conservative.

  20. Snake – what a lot of tosh – how will voting no effect our self confidence. This partiotic nationalist illusion you are spinning is designed to do exactly the opposite of what the yes campaign say. Its designed to frighten people into voting yes.

The yes campaign has been despicable and disgusting and continues to seek new lows on a daily basis. It has taken on sinister facist undertones.

  24. Bawsman is right.

The Scots are not more left of centre than any of our other British cousins, but we are the first to be given an opportunity to change the system in the UK.

    And change it must.

A couple of minor issues in the event of a Yes vote.

What happens to the National Lottery or Euromillions? Suppose we won’t be able to enter either of those draws?

Also what about future Olympic and world Athletics events? will Scotland participate or is there a cut off to the amount of nations who can compete?

  26. The polls are hard to be relied upon for this as there is no precedent for them to weight their answers against. I also regularly see the argument that “the schemes aren’t polled”. This is true, however the corollary to this is that the over 60’s also aren’t polled correctly. The bulk of the polls on this referendum are done online. If you conduct polls online, on an unprecedented subject, there will be swathes of demographic that are marginally covered. In a GE this balances out, for this? Who knows.

Also the argument I have seen a few times on here “everyone I know is 90% Yes, I don’t see where the 50-50 is coming from”. Well I could make the same argument, my workplace has 97 staff. We have 4 Yes voters. Basically to judge the result on the voting intentions of your circle is ludicrous, also to suggest your personal “polling” differences is some sort of indicator of establishment nobbling, well that speaks for itself.

As always the 8% – 12% undecided is what will swing this and this is where the bookies odds are coming from. Human nature. Humans do not like change. We like to know the lay of the land. Bookies are aware psychologically, no matter what “voting intentions” are given, this lot will be more likely to put the cross in No.

My hope is that no matter what the result the promises are kept. If Yes, I want to see this fair society that has been talked about given. If No, the powers to be increased.

I have no faith either side will deliver on their vague promises of jam tomorrow.

IF it’s a YES vote, how do you think the Labour Party in Scotland will react ? Do you think they will re-invent themselves into the Labour Party of old that held sway in Scotland for so long, without the puppet strings of Westminster Labour controlling it ?

This is what I would hope to get out of Independence in a new Scotland as the Labour Party as it stands today doesn’t represent me….
