Re Dundee …you referring to the Cup game ?

    St Mirren on Sunday ….no?

  2. In the biggest transitional season I can remember, least of all a new modern thinking manager, wanting to change all the outdated thinking that was at the club, frankly, thinking that was holding us back,I really think we are doing OK.Not the managers fault,he at the moment does not have all the tools needed to forge further ahead.Too many not wanting to give him time, which really should be at least two seasons.

Many not wanting to give him one season. How will you feel if come May,we have a treble,in the bank.Europe, who knows, but to get European football in Feb is a bonus in 1st year.

Could be the “Humble pie”needed to be eaten could solve the worlds hunger problems.

    I really hope so.

A very noble white lie. That was the first time the wee man actually watched a game on the telly. He has been to Paradise and loved it but that was the first time he actively wanted to watch the football with his daddy. A magical wee moment for a father and son. I was buzzing about it. Sitting on the bed with a wee blanket over us cause our flat was freezing last night.

    ‘Daddy, football, Celtic…..COME ON!!!’

    I will never forget it.

Weans are as magic as Celtic.

Unfortunately I don’t see any evidence of the progress that you seem to see. I see a team who are worse than last year. How can you call this progress?

If fitness WAS the key then as I have said many many times month farah would be a barcelona player and partick thistle players would be world beaters if they gave up pepsi and ran a few extra laps of the track. Do you think physical fitness is the reason Messi is better than boyd?

I wish I shared your optimism but a lot of how this will go depends on January’s movement in and out.

I am in no doubt that around 6 players will leave or be loaned out in January –

    Kayal

    Commons – looks likely

VVD – if the money is right, we all know he is for the off

    Mathews possibly

Berget will go back to Cardiff

If Wakaso and Tonev can be sent back then I’d do it

Some youngsters – I hope Henderson is NOT loaned out because I feel he could add something to the team.

If the manager gets players he wants, then he can be judged properly. Other than Berget I don’t believe the loan players were scouted by Ronny Deila and surprise surprise we sign players whose agent is Dahan or we go to Man City where Peter Lawwell’s son works I believe.

We deal with 2 agents and the rest of it is down or has been down to John Park.

Sometimes it has worked, sometimes it has not.

Neil Lennon we know identified Hooper and Ledley. Both were a success. If Ronny Deila can or has identified players to improve us then I am all for it but Berget doesn’t fill me with confidence.

If we go to the Scandinavian market we must remember their seasons are finishing soon. It took Lustig a while to get going after moving here from that footballing world and the same issues could happen again.

The absolute bare minimum from now on is beat Sevco no matter the cost, get beyond Dundee and be competitive in the matches in the Europa league.

January and February will make or break Ronny Deila as a manager with most fans but he needs to be properly supported by the board in January to give him the best possible chance.

  7. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

    Livibhoy,

Every time Lenny got a successful blend it was dismantled, in the season Lenny proved himself a trustworthy and mature manager he was undermined, his well earned opinion was dismissed as too ambitious.

Reset and start again, Ronny will prove himself, then in about season 3 or 4 his selection list will be too expensive and ambitious, time to reset and start again.

  8. My friends in Celtic,

In the cold light of day, I’m not too disappointed about last night. Don’t like to lose any games but scoring three goals away has to be a positive. Even if our ultimate objective of qualifying was already achieved prior to a ball being kicked.

Again how much do we need Scott Brown ?

I thought that the after match debates was largely constructive, but one thing I find mildly irritating is continual reference to the fact that our goalkeeper had a great game and saved us from a “hammering”.

Craig Gordon is a top class player who we now expect to play to his full potential. We resurrected his career and took an educated gamble on him.

He is paid to be the player we thought he could be.

    Only my opinion of course.

    HH.

  9. My friends in Celtic,

If we are looking for positives, step forward this seasons Anthony Stokes.

Dr jo, lou macari, tommy burns liam brady, and big tony mowbray would all have won the league if there was no huns to play against. Come onN

We all know its aone horse race

Even fat sally could lead celtic to the title

European performances have been abysmal and with so many new guys flopping again this season do you honestly believe that rony will lead us into the cl next season or will we still be hiding behind the transition excuse next season too

  11. Tamrabam

I did say there was a blend required. We don;t have a Messi. To enable us to compete with the better sides we need to be fit to give us an edge. We need better team work. That will come.

I don;t think we are worse than last season. I think our first team is in transition and still achieving relative success so far. It’s not where you are it’s where you are going.

    Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire

Yep agree with that. Ronny comes in to the club knowing this is the way the club operates.

In all honesty I give my opinion. I have always been positive about Celtic. I have my frustrations like most people but in the main I try to look at the good things. I am a dreamer. I believe that one day we will be kings of Europe again. I know a wide range of fans of other clubs and my Motherwell supporting mate believes one day they will win the league. I asked him why he thought like that? He said if I don;t dream it will happen I would be as well giving up my season ticket and going to play golf. I admired him for that. We all have to have dreams about our team. There must always be hope. I believe in Ronny. The transfer window in January for me is vital. I have said it many times. The squad he has at the end of January is pretty much your CL qualifying squad. 1 or maybe 2 new players can be signed in the summer and thrown in but anymore is a huge risk. If the board give him decent funds and he spends it wisely then I will be happy. There is much work to be done we all know that but the team is evolving from what we had. Better? Maybe? Different? Yes. No slight on Neil Lennon who done a fantastic job but what Ronny is doing is different. Ronny’s vision of football is different to Neil’s. It’s a difference of opinion just like myself and many on here. Doesn;t mean we are wrong but we just think differently. Be a boring world if we all thought the same.

  13. In my opinion the team was set up wrong again with two wide men in midfield who do not work without the ball, and, have little physical presence , this is not a new thing with Ronnie’s selections, I don’t believe calum is a wide man but like maloney mcgeooch and now him is played there, not the boys fault so should be allowed to move to a club who will give him the chance to play his best position, Adam is a poor defender who often turns his back on shots not sure what he can offer long term, we need to be competitive and hard to beat we are not some players hide and need shifted, they have had their chance.

  14. The Battered Bunnet on

Missed most of the game last night due to the early kick off, but my observations on goals 3 and 4 conceded are pretty straight forward.

    Johansen.

    Wrong side both goals.

There is a fault there, whether the player’s positional discipline, or the manager’s instruction and shape, but the scorer was free to walk into the D and shoot while Johansen watched on behind him.

    Can’t be doing with that.

  15. Just finished watching the zagreb game

Enjoyed it.. good to see btitton get another 90mins and did well.

Really happy to see fisher and henderson get 30mins.. feel for matthews. Seems a good lad and defo had loads of potential.

I think any offer for him might have to be accepted.. lustig injuries may stop that but if we keep matthews then it could hamper fisher progress.

I like efe and I know he has alot of fans but I wouldnt be too sad to see him depart.

We need to ship out about 6 players and bring in 3 quality players in my opinion.. any shortage of players can be filled by young bhoys.

    Tamrabam,

I’ve thought for some time now that you either know nothing about football or you are on the wind up.

    I am now convinced.

But not sure of which one.

  17. Why do we think that the board haven’t backed any of our previous managers?

I have seen, read and heard opinions, and I’ve picked up similar outpourings from such diverse sources as Neil McCann, Murdo McLeod and Chris Sutton, who may bectrying to create controversy, sell papers or reflect a little of their still simmering angst.

Is it a case of ‘no smoke without someone havon a sly fag’ or is there any evidence that it is true.

Note this is not about a manager being given a cost cutting remit to which he agrees. It is about reneging on joint agreement on how to go forward.

If that can be proven then we are indeed in the midst of a pickle.

Aye okay I will concede that one!

But even so, some currants still think he is good for sevco ( just like some tims think rd is something special too)

  19. Do you get the feeling the Ashley isn’t really in touch with the core of the Sevconian support?

Does he really think they are going to snap up T-shirts proudly proclaiming their playing in a semi-final?

That’s like the kiddies wee ribbons awarded after coming last in a race, proudly proclaiming “I ran a good race”.

Mind you, if he has a deal in place where Sevco have to buy up the un-sold T-shirts at over the odds prices, maybe he isn’t that daft after all…

Anthony Stokes will never be brilliant, but he is a far harder working, more effective player now in comparison to his level of performances last season.

I have been one of his biggest critics, but a certain level of credit must be acknowledged.

I would add Mulgrew to your list,

he has served us well, but sorry to say he doesn’t add anything to this present team.

Motherwell (to defeat Ross County) – Paulo’s Boots

    Good luck Bhoys

    Jobo

  23. I honestly don’t know where to start with some of the head in the sand nonsense on here, so I’ll pretty much leave it.

Last night we had 2 wide players in Wakaso and McGregor both of whom rarely tracked back to help the full backs and who consistently ran out of position.

This puts huge pressure on Izzy and whoever is playing right back. It also puts additional pressure on the rest of the midfield.

Here’s a wee thing. A high tempo pressing game is not a strategy as such. I watch weans in the playground daily playing it. It must be supported by a formation if it’s to work.

Yes, by all means press, close down and tackle but it’s absolutely essential that you then move back in to position to maintain the team formation. Too often we see this ‘headless chicken’ scenario where players move out of the formation to press the opposition but then two things happen:-

    1) they don’t move back to their starting position

    Or

    2) those behind them don’t push up in support and consequently huge gaps appear for the opposition to run into.

This, for me, is the main reason that we’ve often watched teams ‘pass through’ us this season.

And by the way Johansen for all his energy is one of the worst for it. Brown used to be but maturity has almost eradicated it from his game.

Give me players not chicken runners any day.
