Double time for Celtic

780

It is nonsense to talk about Hampden Hoodoos, Celtic’s five defeats there since Neil Lennon became manager have been a result of poor performances, not superstition (fighting the urge to mention two last minute penalty decisions).  Celtic were unquestionably the stronger team on four of those five occasions, arguably all five, but they have been tactically out-thought at the national stadium time after time.

We are vastly stronger than Dundee United but once the whistle goes tomorrow, unless we can match them for hunger, arrest the defensive lapses which have blighted us all season, and find the key to breakdown what will be a tight defence, there is no reason to believe the outcome will be any different than when we faced a weaker St Mirren.

Shortly before that St Mirren defeat I said we were not playing consistently to win the treble we were short odds for.  Consistency hasn’t improved much since, which is why you are hearing talk coming out of Lennoxtown about this being the biggest game of the season.

It’s double time….

    Glad to be of assistance.

I was doing nothing much anyway.

Just working on the Cambuslang hadroncollider.

    HH

  2. Cowiebhoy, log in on another device logs the other out, yes.

We’ll enjoy it all the more if we get the performance we need.

Miss Doc’s first Scottish Cup Semi, she’s looking forward to it.

Big Sammy will run them ragged;-)

Hooper will put them to the sword with a brace, Tony Stokes to finish it off.

  3. Doc, wouldn’t play Sami, never had a decent game at hamdump.

    Hope the rest is good

Surely you can log out on iPad ?

    Hail hail

  4. I would use Sammy as a sub personally to run at them later in the game.

Commons is our main man tomorrow.

He is up for it then the rest will benefit.

  5. I know lots of guys hate the game of naming the team, so tin hat on, this would be my preferred team.

    Forster,Matthews Lustig Wilson, Izzy

Mulgrew, Ledley, Wanyama, Commons, Samaras, Hooper.

    Good evening from me

Attacking full backs – who track back- are the key at Hampden . It’s a big wide pitch so you dont need your wingers stuck on the touchline like you do at, say, Tynecastle they’ll have plenty of space anyway and backs who can come outside and exploit the space in the way that great backs of my youth- Craig, Gemmell, Hay and the imcomparable McGrain – are what wins games at Hampden

If this Celtic team want to win tomorrow, they will. That might seem a daft statement on first glance, but anyone who has been to Hampden in recent times will know what I mean.

I agree but if Wee James was playing I think he would have a field day.

Big wide pitch but surface always seems slow or is it just that we always seem slow there?

Our main problem has to be right hand side of midfield as on the left Ledley will always cover as he has the brains to do so when Izzy is caught out and Chaz shuffles left.

For me Kayal has had chances in the last few weeks and has not convinced.

A Lustig right back and Matthews right mid combo might just work.

Commons free role and an interseted Hooper will help too.

Stokesey and Sammy as ammo from the bench.

Dylan also may shine if brought on when we are infront.

I know exactly what you mean, we have to match the application, pace and work rate first, if we do that our technical superiority will get us through the tie.

  11. Tomorrow’s will be a hard game, but any Celtic win will be welcome. Speed is the key: speed of thought, speed of pass, speed of movement.

    Come on the Hoops.

Been going to Hampdump for many years.

I’ve never thought we played well there.

We have got results over the years largely because of the support

but overall not we do not play our best football there.

Our last 3 outings have been very poor but

    tomorrow will be different.

  13. The gowf is facinatin… But… It’s not the hoops….ghod bless all on this site .. Here’s hoping for an all green and white final…. As for the deck chair arranging over on the south side ….. Hell mend thum

    It’s been a real trial.

I’m on my hols and will miss tomorrow. If we win, maybe I should make myself absent for the final too !

  15. Doc

I blurted out the Father Ted classic when Angela was lamblasting the police for their treatment of the bhoys of the GB. It seemed more appropriate than merely booing :-)

  16. Doc, whit 2 dutchman ?

posting from laptop, but still logged in on ipad – amazing this new media thing

Still wouldny play Sami, with big open spaces

    Hail Hail

  17. Match or better Utd’s work rate and we’ll win. I really believe it’s that simple. Can’t wait.

Oh a proper winger – wee Jamesie – would help. I’d like Adam to play – really rate the boy. A proper Celtic full back – and if fit Lustig would be in my starting line up as well. You are dead right re BK – a few weeks ago I wondered if a goal or two would have had him back to where he was two years ago. Now I think he’s not got it.

Keep Sammi as sub- love the big guy but his form has shaded recently ( stunning goal v Aberdeen excepted!) and I’d be tempted to start with Stokes .

And yet the key men are our two centre backs. They both have talent to burn but KW has struggled at HamPden and Efe is Erratic. At best.

And yet even though the Black Dog has been visiting my house all week I reckon we’ll wi tomorrow. Well

Congratulations to Cliftonville winning the Irish League today and beating Linfield with the last kick of the ball making it even sweeter.Treble most definitely on.

  21. Corkcelt & CRC – i really hope so, but also hope we could do it without him starting.

    on from bench for me

incidentally liked the idea of Lustig with Mathews in front of him – that would work

    Hail Hail

  22. Congrats to the reds tonite explains why I can’t get a mate to answer me …. He is probably lying in the gutter with a smile on his face lol

  23. Doc – skyfire not getting a great write up, but only £2.99 for app – is it worth downloading ?

Hope miss Doc enjoys the day, and also hope you have North terracing seats, the east terracing is torcher,

    Hail Hail
