It is nonsense to talk about Hampden Hoodoos, Celtic’s five defeats there since Neil Lennon became manager have been a result of poor performances, not superstition (fighting the urge to mention two last minute penalty decisions). Celtic were unquestionably the stronger team on four of those five occasions, arguably all five, but they have been tactically out-thought at the national stadium time after time.
We are vastly stronger than Dundee United but once the whistle goes tomorrow, unless we can match them for hunger, arrest the defensive lapses which have blighted us all season, and find the key to breakdown what will be a tight defence, there is no reason to believe the outcome will be any different than when we faced a weaker St Mirren.
Shortly before that St Mirren defeat I said we were not playing consistently to win the treble we were short odds for. Consistency hasn’t improved much since, which is why you are hearing talk coming out of Lennoxtown about this being the biggest game of the season.
It’s double time….

I used to enjoy the Masters, I remember when my kids were young and I still wanted sex every night with my then young wife. The night Sandy won it for Scotland was a night that will live with me forever. I was hanging wallpaper in our then 2 bedroomed house. It was the living room and the paper was an embossed paper easy to hang really thick stuff, the wife was dying to show it off to her pals. Anyway once Sandy hit that shot on the 17th my concentration on the papering lapsed a bit and I got more into the golf. It was late ,after 12 if I remember. When the golf was over and Sanday was handed the Green jacket I went to bed.
Oh what a row we had when I came home from work on the Monday, I had put the last 3 strips of wallpaper up the wrong way.
I recall the final in 1988 against Dundee United
like it was yesterday.
25 years ago we stood as one as Maggie Thatcher
took her seat in the stand and she was given the
warmest of Scottish welcomes.
Now how did it go.
Skyfire is the browser I use, it gives desktop functions Safari doesn’t.

Fek you Trotsky.
Doc, maybe CQN should have a whip-round to send me “away” just in case !
Shameless repost from last night.
Many thanks to those who have donated.
You know who you are >}
I often go on about alternative medicine, but without the conventional stuff, Mrs TET wouldn’t be here tonight.
I know I shouldn’t but

30 years ago a wee bonny lassie was born “Our Laurie” she was and is a special girl.
She was so special that she saved her Mammy’s life.
Unbeknown to anyone Mrs Exiled Tim had cancer.
It was only discovered because of the pregnancy.
My Mrs Exiled Tim would not be here to day if it wasn’t for donations to cancer research, she is a survivor.
My daughter and her pals are doing the run for life for her Mammy and I’m being very cheeky and asking you to sponsor her .
Help other sufferers become survivors.
Sorry for asking, a few bob wouldn’t go a miss, just remember to thank CQN if you do feel the urge.

I waited for the right moment for “Careful now!”, but it never came :-)
In the last few days i’ve heard alot of
nonsense about Thatcher helping us buy our
council houses as the one good thing she did.
The tories stopped Councils spending the money they raised
on building new council houses.
They learned from the miners strike that if we had
mortgages we couldn’t afford to go on strike because it
meant losing your hoose.
Gordon 64,
Thatcher presented the Scottish Cup that day.I would rather we wouldn’t have accepted it and left her standing there. It would have made big news.

I do but the wife usually makes an excuse these days. I have to ply her with drink to get her thinking along my wavelenght

Agree.
But we were to busy celebrating to care.
Scottish Cup Semi V Hearts I went up last minute with the Manchester Hearts supporters club so was in their end.
Scared the life out of me and never have I secretly celebrated a winner whilst looking so sad in the face.
The ride home was however a good one.
At 1-0 down my pal asked me if I had brought my Celtic scarf with me to which I replied ” are you kidding?”
He said ah well you could be in for a doing then.
Thought of scrapping with fellow fans had my mind all in bits.
Thanks for the win that day Bhoys.
O.K. Guys off now for hopefully 8 hours kip. Then twill be 6 hours to kick off. Good night All HH

Labour had plenty of time to start building houses ,14 years , am guessing
all that time Tony was stringing us along by assisting the USA in an illegal
war, someone in the Socialist cabinet might have thought of the ‘common
people’

I’m not sure that Thatcher fully comprehended what she was actually doing. I Think she always had that Eye on attaining respectability within the upper classes.
She was such a Sub for their real agendas IMO. A Bitch to be controlled, without it looking like she was controlled.
Mincey
Fair play to you.
It was an unnaturally hot day.
But a typical Celtic performance.
Another shameless re post.
A wee poem by Mrs TET…………..
Our Bobby came for Maggie, he offered her his hand.
She asked if he was consort, to the promised land.
Ah sure your passage will be safe, there’s plenty there to meet.
Maggie smiled and went with him, till she felt the heat,
What is this place you take me ? Where is my throne and crown.
Our Bobby said to Maggie, I think your going down !
Ten brave men stood in judgement, deciding on her fate.
The eternal burning fires of hell, or heavens pearly gates.
The first to speak was Raymond he looked her up and down
With Francis, Joe and Michael standing close, Maggie gave a frown.
While we hungered for justice, your judgement sealed our fate.
It’s the fires of hell for you, ye bitch not heavens pearly gates.
Then Thomas, Kevin, Kieran and Patsy all gave their thought
If Maggie should enter the gates of paradise or not
Martin smiled at Bobby they agreed her fate was sealed.
For crimes again the IRISH they compassion she would not yield.
Then St Peter gave a smile at Gods chosen men
For they were her jury, those bold courageous ten.
What have you decided, what’s her fate, do tell
Then Bobby smiled and pushed her into the fiery bowels of hell
VP
Always respect your valued DM opinion.
See you tomorrow pal.

I was 3 rows behind her.
My abiding memory is seeing Dr Michael Kelly, Glasgow Lord Provost, standing on his chair giving her the “vicky”!
(at least, that’s how I remember it)
Chelsea’s Ken Bates was sitting along from me. With a few minutes to go I could see him getting ready to head off. I shouted at him not to leave or he’d miss the winning goal. 2 mins later Frankie Bhoy fired in the winner and he gave me the thumbs up!
Great day!

I was in the only covered end and looked out on a sun filled 3/4 terraces going bananas whilst all around me expletives were being screamed and one guy with blood still weeping from stitches in a face wound was nutting a post, I kid you not.
Thought I was going to get bubbled by a friend of my friends as I knew my friend was a good guy.
As I said a really good drive back home to make it for a few pints in Whitefield, Manchester.
Only got the ticket in the pub the night before as my friend had been let down by somebody and I usually played Saturday afternoon.
Petec
MT knew exactly what she was doing.
Ably supported by a rampant Rupert Murdoch Sun
and a well paid police force.
They were allowed to run amok.
The entire forces of the state were lined up
against the miners.
Fergus “The Bunnet” Mc Cann
When we were tax paying lodgers at Hampden I remember seeing him welcome a large group of special needs kids into the stadium
Some said he had no heart for the club
In reality he was a no bull jobbies business man with his heart in the right place and just the ghuy we needed at the time
Meanwhile in another place in another Universe
