  1. Bournesoup Henrik had scored 99 goals i his career and played In a world up semi final and he arrived at Celtic when we had a goal scorer

    We don’t have one and we haven’t signed one yet

  2. So it’s

    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Forster :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Lustig :::::::::::::::: Ambrose ::::::::::::::::: Van Dijk :::::::::::: Izaguirre

    Matthews ::::::::::::: Brown :::::::::::::::::::: Ledley :::::::::::: Boerrigter

    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Commons :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Stokes :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    With the exception of Ambrose and Van Dijk, who are a bit of an unkown quantity, I really like the way this team fits together. Lustig and Matthews have looked very impressive down the right hand side, while Boerrigter looked terrific on an albeit short-lived first outing with Izzy feeding him on the left. Brown and Ledley we know about – probably our most reliable central midfield, while Commons behind Stokes has worked brilliantly and reaped wins in 7 out of 8 previous occasions.

    The only slight concern is the realatively poor records several members of this team have at Tannadice (Matthews, Lustig, Stokes, Ambrose, Commons, and, at the bottom of the ignominious pile, Izzy). Surprised, for example, not to see Sammi and Watt anywhere near the squad (injured/aff oot respectively?) as both have been excellent up there.

    He will score for fun in the SPL, and take that confidence into the CL (how good does that sound) ……..KTF

  4. Snake Plissken on

    Pukki gets No.20 – a number worn by Regi Blinker once upon a time.

    No.7 still vacant.

  5. I am not writing Pukki off. By all accounts a skilfull player

    But we needed to sign a goal scorer and we had the cash

  6. Tricoloured Ribbon on

    16 roads,

    Dunno mate,time will tell.If Watt goes though,I really hope we have another striker to bring in.

    Pukki,Stokes and Balde looks very threadbare to me.

    I think Mathews on the right wing is a great move…..l

  8. Looky looky its teemu pukki…I predict the bhoy will be a star. Youtube is not much to go by but hes got great composure in front of goal.

    Remember anyone out of contract can still sign for us.

    Anyone have a list of free agents?

  12. 16 roads - Wee Oscar the Celtic warrior. on

    TCR – Kris Commons,Samaras and wee Jamesy are all capable of scoring goals as well mate.

  13. Sydney

    You don’t know how many goals a striker will score before he plays – for Celtic , he was signed by a Bundesliga club, we’re doing infinitely well to get him.

    Celtic fans scoffed at Gary Hooper’s Scunthorpe goals, before he kicked a ball, lets wait and see.

    Meanwhile the queue for CL tickets hit the London Rd this morning

  14. 67heaven. I do hope he will change and start scoring goals regularly for 1st in his Career, so far that has not been what he does

  15. 16 roads - Wee Oscar the Celtic warrior. on

    SidneyTim – Maybe the club should sign Paul Scholes? (even though retired now)

    He scores goals.

  16. Bourne enjoy the game. We can agree to disagree

    You are saying its ok to pay money for someone who has not scored goals anywhere but he might start that with us ????

    glad to see those of us with a poetic obsessive streak, which can be unlucky, getting to work on our new Bhoy Pukki..

    Excited at today’s team, excited by another euro trip( Ajax) to watch the hoops..

    Excited to be on CQN on such another great week..

    Mon the hoops..

    Bo Selecta to score today.. Well that’s what his name sounds like to me!

  18. excellent open interview with spence and our Neil on shortbread.

    * Pukki an excellent signing , watched him for a longtime

    * 1 or 2 more to come in.

    * Definate left back cover required

    * Clarify what you meant by “no help” is it the board

    “no, its frustration at everything when £20m walks out the door, you expect to be able to replace that, but a lot of naughtyness going on, agents, thats what happened with kelvin, agents get inside their heads unsettle them, thats whats happening with Forster”

    * Pukki is a player, brilliant first touch

  19. McDowellcelt god bless wee oscar on

    Lenny said on radio that were still in talks with 2 players.. Think man u left back buttner is definitely one of them.

  20. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

    I am an advocate for loaning out young players who need experience.

    I would have it inserted into their contract that they go out on “placement”.

    The only exemption would be for the exceptional talent who bacame an automatic first pick; and they are as rare as an accounts issue from Ibrox.

    Popping in and out of the first team does not help the consistancy of a player, young or old.

    They need a continuous run to gain confidence and match fitness.

    If they are nade of the right stuff and have the talent and ambition, then tey will survive the experience.

  21. Joe Filippis Haircut on

    Sydney Tim. What happened to giving a new player a chance ? it is a nonsense to moan about a new signing before he has played a game for us.I think we have made some promising signings and look forward to watching them So well done Celtic.H.H.

  22. more NFL

    * Pukki might not score as many as Gary, but he will score, and he will add excitement up front.

  23. Even after all these years, some people are still getting the wrong idea about how loan deals actually work.

    If an English club for example, are keen to send a player out on loan and that player is on, let’s say 60k a week, it does not follow that the borrowing club is expected to meet that wage.

    The whole idea is for the club to get the player match experience in a league outwith its own league, and saving a large amount of money into the bargain. The two clubs would negotiate the borrowing club’s weekly contribution to the salary, and it is not uncommon for the borrowing club to pay as little as 25% or even 20% of the weekly wage. For a whole season, that can amount to a saving of up to a million pound for the lending club.

    So if there is a story about Celtic possibly taking a loan player from England and he is on 50k, 60k, 70k a week or whatever, the salary level is not a deal-breaker because there is no way Celtic would need to pay anything near that level of salary.

    When Craig Bellamy was on loan at Celtic, the club paid approximately 30% of his weekly wage.

    Perhaps but I’m also sure I seen somewhere that he had the highest pass completion ratio on the EPL last season – that’s good going if true!

    Case of finding the right team and adding that little bit extra to his game and he’d be top drawer.

  25. Sydney

    You too, – enjoy the match

    Strikers score most of their goals for Celtic, ala McGrory or Larsson.

    Teemu Pukki of the Celtic

    sounds good to me
