Economic consequences and remarkable irony

845

Spanish football, like its economy in general, in mired in difficult financial times, which, apart from one or two well-funded clubs, has restricted the budgetary scope of a large number of teams.  I had hoped all summer to hear we were on the case but it wasn’t until the final day of the window that solid opportunities materialised.

Marseille-born Tunisian international Lassad Nouioui is a complete unknown to all of us but his profile, earned at Deportivo La Coruna, fits the bill.  He scored a handful of goals as Deportivo finished 18th and dropped out of La Liga in season 2010-11 but hit the heights last season as they secured promotion.  It would be practically impossible for Celtic to sign a striker with the equivalent profile in English football, despite the apparent gap in standards between La Liga and the English Premier.  I’m also delighted to hear Levante, who finished 6th in La Liga last season, were so keen to capture him.

There is also something I like about the port-town mentality the people of Marseille have.  It’s very Glaswegian.  Lassad should flourish here.

I’m not sure what Phil Mac Giolla Bhain’s reaction was when The Sun called asking for an interview about his new book, which details the mainstream media’s failure to report the demise of Rangers.  “Are you joking?” may have been appropriate.  I had no prior notice they were running an interview yesterday and couldn’t believe the promotion they gave to a book detailing the failure of their industry.

This was not without consequences, of course, and The Sun got themselves into an incredible mess, today trying their best to backpedal, which is pretty much what the theme of the book predicts (irony #1).  Meanwhile there is a book publisher in Glasgow who cannot believe his luck.  Thousands of unwitting critics and a leading newspaper have ensured  Mac Giolla Bhain, who would struggle for a platform without the anger of others, has a bestseller on his hands (irony #2).

My previous posts may have sounded a wee bit pessimistic but, let me tell you, I’m happier than I have EVER been as a Celtic supporter ……. They have been found out, they are no more ….. Their apologists are being afforded every encouragement to carry on their rancid traditions, and to get back to the SPL, to continue to disgrace Scottish Football…..but they lost the BATTLE to the good guys…..

When they are eventually ‘returned’ to the SPL, by the seat of their pants, and in disgrace, they will never again dominate, since they will not be able to cheat the taxman / sport and we will dominate for decades, as long as we stick together and SUPPORT the team as only we know how …….l forget the current propaganda ……….they are deservedly in deep poo, and the media etc know it……..

BIG CUP WINNERS……… The fact that the huns had more than us at our game, after our fine achievement in qualifying for the CL. As I said, when reality sinks in, their crowd will dissipate.

and you felt the need to mention this FACT!! Why?? away back to the dark side

  3. Neil canamalar,

  9. Looking for a bit of advice. Has anyone booked the trip to Lisbon under their own steam and if so what kind of itenary could you get. Thomas crook only have day trips and I am planning to take my 10 year old son therefore a day trip would be exhausting for him. Ideally I would like to fly out early on Tuesday and fly back later on the wednesday. Not so concerned about the price. Any suggestions would be great. Incidentally should I be ok for getting tickets if I book on my own. Thanks

Right, watching horizon: how small id the universe, they are telling us the big bang started microscopic.

they tell us they are trying to create a microscopic black hole, but it will be safe, aye right

  11. So long as said black hole materialises ( or whatever black holes do ) in the middle of iPox I’m okay with that.

it wouldnt be a black hole then, it would be a sh***hole :oD)))

  14. The huns have in effect won.

They have dumped their massive debt, the cost has been a start in the 4 th tier.

They know no shame, so it has made them even more bitter.

There may well be a few titles stripped from them, so what, what difference will it make.

A major downside for the rest of scottish football has been the huns are circling their wagons, the msm are onside, the government are onside, the powers who run the game are for sure onside.

They will be back soon enough, spouting their supremisist bile for all the world to hear, and nothing will be done about it, same old, same old.

The only way there is any chance of them not getting back to the top again, is to sort the match fixers.

Presently it’s a bit of a joke that they are getting preferencial treatment in the 4 th division, aye, but soon enough they will be back in the spl, either through cheating their way through the leagues, or a reconstruction, and then it won’t be such a joke.

The onus is on the clubs who took a stance that saw them booted out, our club should be lobbying behind the scenes to fix the problem.

The referees could be fixed so easily, but from where I am typing the will to sort it is not there.

Sort the match fixers, sort the game.

  15. Palacio67. Thanks but tried Expedia already and the return journey is coming up as 22 hours with a couple stops which is not ideal for the boy.

  16. gordybhoy64

Mail me again, I can’t remember your addy, it’s there somewhere, but I haven’t got around to sorting them out into a system that I understand :>)

  17. Is there any Celtic supporter who still thinks that we have a viable future in Scottish football?

There are many, life long supporters who will turn away from the game and, by extension, Celtic, if events run the course that they are presently following.

These are people who no longer will tolerate their noses being rubbed in the dirt, as dished up by all the Establishment forces in the country.

Day by day, the evidence mounts, with no sign of abating.

We now have the brazen example of total anarchy, when the axis of evil silence the country’s best selling tabloid, with nary a word of official condemnation.

The point of no return for me, will be how restructuring is handled.

If, as seems to be the choice option of the aforementioned, they are smoozed into a higher league than they should, then Celtic must tender their resignation.

Not to so do, renders them complicit in the corruption.

Furthermore, unfair as it sounds, anyone who continues to invest in the club, even by STs, is condoning the cheating.

    Celtic should be above that.

Anyone who has read any of my posts previously, know that I have long spelt out the Doomsday scenario for the club.

    Belfast Celtic or Derry City.

Obviously, I pray that it is the latter, but hard decisions must be made, or else we will become a mockery of what we were.

  18. TeT

I feel the same way, sick to the back teeth of the MSM treating them as if they are still the same..

my head is about to explode with their supremist behaviour.. they are not sorry they have a thirst for revenge and we are in the firing line..

  19. JimmyQuinnsBits on

From what I’ve read, Miku seems to be touted as the main buy

I know its only youtube, but Nouioui’s movement and strength look very promising, can’t wait to see what these players have got in a Celtic jersey

  20. What needs to happen to the hun is mass arrests, placed on spaceships and launched towards the nearest black hole, and forgotten.

Of such things dreams are made of.

  21. TET,

    mail sent,

on an earlier post,if the huns lose titles i fear we will see serious disturbances

  22. So, the huns are now the OFFICIAL censors in Scotland.

Smacks of The Brownshirts in Hitler’s Germany.

    Alles ser gut, then.

  23. BT

I can only imagine how bad it is there.

It will only get worse, the laws have been changed to ensure that we will be the ones in the firing line.

The best wee corrupt country in the world.

  24. Right… yer a normal run-of-the-mill black hole, you’ve existed for eons, sucking in matter from unimaginable distances, influencing the centre of a major galaxy, gravity so great, that even light can’t escape it – the very metaphor of evil.

And then you get landed with that lot… it’s got t be a bummer
