EDOUARD STEPS UP FITNESS FIGHT

ODSONNE EDOUARD has stepped up battle to be fit in time to lead Celtic in Sunday’s Betfred League Cup Final.

The charismatic French striker has missed the last three games through injury, but returned to Lennoxtown today after having yesterday off field work.

Neil Lennon will give his big-game performer all the time required before he comes back into the first team and insisted he will not rush the frontman.

However, Edouard has targeted the silverware shoot-out with Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox outfit after sitting out the wins over Rennes (3-1), Ross County (4-1) and Hamilton Accies (2-1).

Mohamed Elyounoussi was also involved at the training HQ as he attempted to be fit in time for selection while Boli Bolingoli was put through his paces.

Lennon could have a problem in the No.3 slot with Greg Taylor, who has played in the last three outings, Cup-tied after playing in the competition for Kilmarnock earlier in the season.

Jonny Hayes popped his shoulder in the 4-0 win over Livingston last month and is still trying to overcome the blow.

On the opposite flank, Dutch teenager Jeremie Frimpong is poised to play in place of Mortiz Bauer who took the role in the midweek victory over Accies.
