EDOUARD TRANSFER UPDATE

ANGE POSTECOGLOU is playing it cool concerning Odsonne Edouard as the clock ticks down until transfer deadline day.

The window closes at 11pm a week on Tuesday and the French striker, who is in the last year of his Hoops contract, is quietly going about his business on the pitch.

Edouard, the club’s record buy at £9million from Paris Saint-Germain in June 2018, has been linked with several teams over the summer with Brighton among them. They have £50million to spend after the sale of England central defender Ben White to Arsenal and could afford the Parkhead club’s asking price of £20million for their 23-year-old frontman who was on target again in the 6-0 win over St Mirren yesterday.

However, manager Postecoglou was coy on the question of any potential exit after bringing in his sixth major signing in Croatia right-back Josip Juranovic in a £2.6million switch from Legia Warsaw. The 26-year-old international has joined goalkeeper Joe Hart, defender Carl Starfelt, midfielder James McCarthy, winger Liel Abada and striker Kyogo Furihashi in the massive squad rebuild.

Asked about the transfer situation, the Greek-Australian gaffer, speaking to BBC Sposrtsound, answered: “I’ve steered clear of that, I’ve let others handle that side.

“They haven’t come to me with any new information about outgoings as we speak, obviously we’ve got a little bit of time in the window.

“We’ll deal with those things when they arise.”
