There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC. Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.
The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities. The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo. Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business. Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.
It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League. Maybe not the wisest PR move.

Having been around for half of Celtic’s existence (125 years) – kind of difficult to pick a starting eleven from 5 decades (I exclude my younger days of players I saw but scarcely remember; Stein, Evans, Peacock, Tully, Collins, McPhail and Mochan).
So let’s start with the Lisbon Lions (11) plus players that would constitute a modern day pool of 23 players – to them I would add;
Boruc, Packie
McGrain, Boyd, Aitken
Connelly, Petrov, Lambert, Naka
Henrik, Sutton, Dalglish = 23 in total.
But then I think about others that contributed to milestones in our history;
Fallon, Hunter, Lachford
Shuggie, McAdam, Dariusz, Elliot, Big Mick, Joos, Bobo, Dolf,
Gallagher, Hay, TB, Maestro, Doyle, Provan, DiCanio, Thom, Stark, Murdo, Collins, Lenny, Lubo, Aiden

There you have it – enough players to field a Team for the 5 generations I have watched CFC!
For the younger CQNers – ones to watch that might yet make my pool; Mathews, Izzy, Victor, Forrest, Sammi + 2/3 of the youngsters that have featured (off the bench and in the NextGen).
No matter how long you have followed the Tic – seen them live (highs and lows) – there are 1000’s of Bhoys who have played for us and sweated; blood and snotters for the jersey – most, at maybe only one time in their career with us, have delivered – each is worth remembering!

The SFL presumably could just change their rules to suit.
I just can’t see the huns staying in the SPL, it’s not in their interests, but I can’t see Scottish football sending them to the bottom. A first division start would be the kind of compromised fudge you’d associate with the way the game is run here.

Strictly speaking it wasn’t the SFA. It was an independent judicial panel, albeit that it was operating at the behest of the SFA.
