‘Emerald’ Green aims for Champions League

1007

There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC.  Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.

The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities.  The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo.  Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business.  Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.

It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League.  Maybe not the wisest PR move.

John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

Sorry not on twitter I think!!. <o(((( Bit of a dinosaur me!!

  2. The Scottish game needs protected from crooked, unambitious, subservient chairmen! Take the scenario where new club and Ross County are equal bottom with one game left of the season. New club are playing Kilmarnock and rossco playing St Johnstone. What chance rossco? Who does Michael Johnston want to win? We would be no longer one step away from match fixing. Vomit.

I did consider not renewing and then thought that the divorce from Celtic would leave me empty! However, I am placing my trust in Celtic and hope that they do us right.

    I agree with that, absolutely.

Did you read BRTH’s post the other day, anecdote about Jock Stein and Archie McPherson, then jock Stein asking him what had the BBC ever done for “these people”, it resonated that I was one of “these people”.

Appelate tribunal statement says ha ha stupid Huns. Will they arrange a cva with the qc?

  10. Is it not an oxymoron that the huns could ever be considered as appealing in the first place?

A suggestion in regard to what the Celtic Boatd will do.

Try approaching the issue from a different default angle of some posters that the Board is not to be trusted to do the right thing by Celtic.

Board members, whilst constrained by real business considerations that do not constrain the support, are nevertheless Celtic supporters who feel as the support do about the consequences of Rangers behavioir, indeed they have been much maligned by their own support who had no idea of the full extent of Ranger’s skullduggery.

I would bet that if Peter Lawwell were able to post incognito, what he had to say about “them” would be indistinguishable from the views of many posting here.

But unlike us posting here he is responsible for balancing his own feelings as a supporter with his responsibilities to Celtic now and in the future.

It is a position I would not like to occupy, but it is not helped by the prejudgement of those with no such responsibilties.

Why simply not suspend that judgement given it is based on the most part on historical perceptions rather than the unique current position Celtic face?

Celtic do not know if will be Rangers that emerge from this or a Newco.

They will not vote for a Newco but if they cannot stop that vote they can seek conditions of entry that might satisfy the support that the integrity of our game is not lost.

Failure to bury the Scottish Football Association’s biased control of our game to Celtic’s detriment would, imo, be a greater failure than a weakened Newco joining the SPL

Thanks for your answer mate , not looking for you to change my mind one way or the other , just value your opinion .

As I say I’m renewing as well , as I couldn’t imagine not going to watch Celtic , and I don’t want to hurt the club I love.

Just want to watch my team trying to be the best that they can be without having to overcome cheating officials / authorities and now clubs .

As always , yours in Celtic .

  13. SFA tribunal rejects Rangers appeal

Rangers have had their appeal against a £160,000 fine and a year-long transfer embargo rejected by a Scottish Football Association appeals tribunal.

The Scottish Football Association had charged the club with six breaches of its rules and banned owner Craig Whyte from Scottish football.

Rangers argued that they should not be held responsible for Whyte’s actions.

But an SFA statement said: “The appellate tribunal affirms the decision of the disciplinary tribunal.”

…on the bright side for the Huns..in 6 years time they will have a group of 24 year olds with years of Div1-3/SPL experience…

  16. Apparently Fat Sally has contacted Glasgow Royal Infirmary Maternity unit with the hope of procuring some new signings.

Fancy a beer or two in Granada of friday afternoon, Malaga is a wee bit too far, Granada is half way, I will be going there anyways ???

  19. Fantastic but for this to have any meaning they must stay in SPLhell.

Think of all the fun we could have.

  20. There was a hun on SSB tonight suggesting the newco huns could start off in the first division – an outcome I suggested a while ago. Spiers saw some merit in the idea. It’s certainly now looking more realistic from the huns point of view than the SPL.

  24. Here is a longer version from the BBC site:

    “SFA tribunal rejects Rangers appeal

Rangers have had their appeal against a £160,000 fine and a year-long transfer embargo rejected by a Scottish Football Association appeals tribunal.

The Scottish Football Association had charged the club with six breaches of its rules and banned owner Craig Whyte from Scottish football.

Rangers argued that they should not be held responsible for Whyte’s actions.

But an SFA statement said: “The appellate tribunal affirms the decision of the disciplinary tribunal.”

The three-man tribunal will give full reasons in writing “in early course”, but the SFA issued a summary of its conclusions.

“It was competent for disciplinary tribunal to impose the additional sanction of prohibiting registrations of any new players of 18 years or older for a period of 12 months,” it stated.

“The disciplinary tribunal was correct to determine that the conduct involved – especially the deliberate non-payment of very large sums, estimated in excess of £13m of tax in the form of PAYE, NIC and VAT – was attributable to the club as a member of the Scottish FA.

“The disciplinary tribunal was correct also in holding that the maximum fine available for this breach was £100,000 and on its own was inadequate as a punishment for this misconduct. It was therefore correct to select an additional sanction.

“The sanctions available included expulsion from participation in the game and termination or suspension of membership of the Scottish FA, which would have had a similar effect.

“The appellate tribunal observes that serious consideration was given by the disciplinary tribunal to imposing one of these sanctions, which would have had obvious consequences for the survival of the club.

“The disciplinary tribunal rejected these as too severe and this appellate tribunal agrees with that conclusion.

“Although the appellate tribunal has listened carefully to the representations from Rangers FC about the practical effects of the additional sanction, it has concluded that this sanction was proportionate to the breach, dissuasive to others and effective in the context of serious misconduct, bringing the game into disrepute.

“In particular, the appellate tribunal recognises that the disciplinary tribunal decision does not affect Rangers’ ability to extend the contracts of existing professional players, including those whose contracts will expire at the end of this season and including also those currently on loan to other clubs.

“The appellate tribunal observes that Rangers FC have over 40 professional players in this category.”

In what circumstances could this happen though?
