‘Emerald’ Green aims for Champions League

1007

There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC.  Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.

The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities.  The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo.  Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business.  Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.

It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League.  Maybe not the wisest PR move.

John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

Your post reminded me about the last time I was at Charels De Gaulle, 2007 ish, any ways there was this Muslim family in front of us, the wife was carrying a beautifull hand made Mosque that was made out of matchsticks, the detail was unbelievable, it was about 21/2 ft x 2 ft x 2 foot high, they were in front of us going up the escalator, at the top of the moving stairs there was a log jam of people, and we were all crushed, including the model of the Mosque, all hell broke loose.

The French polis showed their true colours that night.

You’ve absolutely hit the nail on the head for me with regards to them.

I’m sick of hearing pundits and hacks telling us Celtic fans that, not only do we “need” them, apparently we would miss them too if they aren’t in the SPL.

They even accuse us of lying when we claim we would not. Quite what motive we would have to have to lie about that I’m not sure.

If I was asked my favourite memories of Celtic in recent times, top of my list would be Seville. Nakamura’s free kick against Man U will live with me forever and Martin O’neill’s champions league nights we epic. The penalty shoot out against Moscow, 4-3 against Juve, David Marshall standing ten foot tall in the Nou Camp as we put out Barca.

These are the highlights for me.

Sitting for 90 minutes watching something barely describable as football and having to listen to songs about killing Catholics and child abuse don’t feature for me.

Alright, the 6-2 game was great but that was exceptional.

You’re spot on about the tension after a game. Going for a drink requires planning and strategy. “We can’t go here, stay away from those guys, don’t look them in the eye, no colours, better get home before dark, things could kick off”

I hate all that crap. I certainly don’t appreciate anyone telling me that I need it or want it. I want to feel safe, watch my team play in a fair environment and socialise after the match.

After the “shame game” we had police and politicians calling for the fixture to be banned. Now apparently, it is the best thing about Scottish football.

I actually believe Rangers fans are being genuine when they tell us “we need you and you need us”. They do need us. They need something to hate and triumph over to give them any sense of identity.

Likewise they can’t understand that we don’t feel the same. Their tiny minds can’t comprehend the fact that we are proud of Celtic full stop wouldn’t miss them for a second.

  8. ht- great letter! Very well worded and as someone else said puts the ball right in their court. Although I agree (mostly) im not sure what the alternative would be? Could you walk away and not support Celtic? I suppose you could from afar and watch on TV or whatever. Is that the idea, just to not give them season book money? I could never stop supporting celtic, i assume thats not what the GB are saying they would do.

Bloke- nice story about Lisbon. I distinctly remember you telling that before on here, maybe a year ago or more. Cant wait to go there one day and see the stadium for myself.

I think most people I know are getting fed up with me showing them my new CQN badge, this will not deter me from showing it of.

Now, for most mortal mhen, one such gift would be enough, but I’m a greedy so and so I have just emailed CRC to have my name added to the list for the new designs. I’m sure they will be things to behold, as the current ones are!

It’s succinct and unambiguous. However, it doesn’t represent my own personal views which are pretty well known :-))

I’ll be there next season and the season after God willing.

  15. Bournesoupreipe there is a bit of class about the front of stadium then, the one now a shambles , it looks a right frosty day when that photo was taken i lived just down the road from there gretna street, could that be the 64 tram going to auchenshuggle

I understand that the opinion of the GB is that they will boycott any club which votes YES to newco and that includes Celtic.

  17. Margaret McGill on

    ok I admit I haven’t read up.

I dont know how it works.

Newco in the SPL next season.

Is it just the clubs that vote?

Why does one need a vote? Isn’t it against the rules?

Doesn’t Celtic participating in the Vote even for a “No” legitimize the vote?

Why are the huns allowed to vote? Isn’t that a conflict of interest.

So say it comes down to it.

Celtic, Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, Ross County vote No (5)

Motherwell, Kilmarnock, St.Mirren, ICT, St. Johnstone, Newhuns vote yes (6)

Dundee Utd Mibbees aye Mibbees naw.

Isn’t that enough for a No?

    Embdy?

  18. If the SFA appeal decision is being held over until next week, it can only be bad news for Rangers. If they were reversing the transfer embargo, what possible reason would there be for keeping it secret for a while longer? Threats of disruption of the Cup final are behind this. The SFA want this season done and dusted before announcing these decisions, including the other punishments for the dodgy contracts etc.

This will get messy for the Huns, and just in time for the marching season.

    Interesting times ahead.

I had felt the same way the GB are feeling just now, I have changed my opinion, just by listening to what others on this blog have posted.

I do however have sympathy for their position, and it may do some good letting Celtic know how they feel. If commerce is the overwhelming factor taken into consideration, then this stance my influence them and others.

I do think Celtic will oppose a Newclub btw.
