‘Emerald’ Green aims for Champions League

1007

There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC.  Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.

The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities.  The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo.  Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business.  Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.

It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League.  Maybe not the wisest PR move.

John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

  2. We are a truly blessed set of fans to have the History we have. I feel privileged to have been steeped in it from childhood. Scouring the pages of all those books in a state of awe and watching all those videos growing up. The great characters such as Brother Walfrid, Willie Maley, McGrory, Stein & the Lions, Tommy Burns, Sandy McMahon, The Centenary Double, Bertie Peacock & the seven one game, the King of Kings…and it goes on and on…it really gives you a sense of rootedness, a belonging to something greater, part of a legendary cause, in some ways even more important or even transcending the football. And one things seems to come though, part of the mythology of the club, is this inviting climate that is conducive or a catalyst to individual creativity, flamboyance & where genius might proliferate…like Patsy Gallagher, McMahon, Tully, Bobby Collins, Jimmy Johnstone, Lubo…an appreciation of the mercurial talents that other more pragmatic clubs might not value or prize so highly.

Just a pity Paddy will not join that elite group- would love to see him at Hibs are somewhere like that- just to see how good he actually is.

At a ‘virtual’ Creditors’ Meeting on 20th April, Duff and Phelps, the Adminstrators of Fubar FC, asked the Creditors of the Company to vote on a series of Resolutions, such that with Creditors would authorise the Administrators to take certain actions on behalf of the Creditors.

Each Resolution required 50% of the total value of the Creditors to vote in favour in order that the Administrators be so authorised.

One of the key Resolutions asked the Creditors to authorise the Admininstrators to sell the assets of Fubar FC in whole or in part without further reference to the Creditors. I have pasted the relevant text below:

17.1.4 That the Joint Administrators can explore any and all options available to realise the assets of the Company without recourse to creditors. The Joint Administrators be authorised to conclude a sale of the whole, or part of the business, property and assets of the Company without having to obtain the sanction of the Company.s creditors at further creditors meetings, upon such terms as the Joint Administrators deem fit and they be authorised to liaise with all relevant parties, bodies or organisations which they deem relevant for achieving that purpose.

The Insolvency Act requires the Administrators to report the outcome of the votes at the Creditors’ Meeting to be notified to the Court and Companies House “as soon as reasonably practicable”.

To date Companies House is showing no such notification, and depsite being in front of Lord Hodge at Court last week, no information on the outcome of this critical meeting was presented. As I write, we do not know whether the Administrators have been authorised to sell the business and/or assets of Fubar FC.

This of course is all very well and good technically, but there is a rather practical aspect to it: According to press statements given in recent days, Charles Green is ‘irrevocably’ obliged to purchase the whole of the business and assets of Fubar FC in the event that the Creditors fail to accept his CVA proposal.

Unless the Creditors have voted in favour of resolution 17.1.4, the Administrators are not authorised to execute this ‘irrevocable’ obligation.

The whole matter of course can be easily clarified if only a witting journalist would ask the Administrators for confirmation that the Creditors approved the relevant resolution that thereby gives them the necessary authority to close the deal with Green.

Over to Scotland’s Media on that one.

One does though wonder what other matters the Administrators are required to deliver against without which the irrevocable agreement with Mr Green is somewhat ..eh, revocable.

  5. Paulo Di Canio did the most outrageous bit of skill I’ve ever seen. Collected the ball on the back of his neck from our penalty box and started running at the Hibs defence. Plus the freekick against the huns where he flicked the ball up and cracked it off the bar.

Naka hit the best freekick…ever. That was my desktop for a while. £48m worth of talent in the wall. Superman wouldn’t have saved that.

But Lubo has given me more joy than any other footballer at the club on a consistent basis. He understood the game and how to play it to a world class level every time he stepped on the pitch.

If they were b-ball players they would be:

    Paulo Jordan

    Shunsuke West

  6. to all the folk concerned about the green knight attending the meeting at hampden tonight, false alarm.. turns out it was just someone that looked like him

  7. Much soul searching over the SB renewal, spoke about it great length with my oul fella about it, honestly couldn’t make up my mind, so my 82 year old father did and did it today whilst I was in edinburgh, we spoke tonight on the fone when he breaks the news abt it, after my half hearted protestations he says, you no more couldn’t go back to see the Celtic than I could, and you know what, the 82 year old green brigader was right…again! I sympathise with those who still struggle with this, if its of any help ill introduce you to my oul fella, he has a wonderful way of making peoples minds up for them….Hail Hail Geordie, here’s to next season.

The game was on the 26.02.2012 i think, he crossed the ball with one of those cheeky flicks (don’t know the name for it) the power and accuracy was amazing, right on the players head, he headed over the bar from 4 yards!!!

Lubo fur me ahead of Naka, Di Canio has said some silly things about Celtic over the past couple of months.

If it’s Jock Stein’s testimonial your talking about then I’m sure you are correct.I think the Liverpool players let Dalgleish come out the tunnel a fraction early and he was widely booed.

  17. CRC I would let your wee lassie design the new badge. I kinda liked what she was describing on Sunday. Even make a couple of designs sell both I am sure the CQN Brigade would snap them up, especially for the good cause.

Watched the film. Didn’t quite get to the end. A bit of a disappointment. Big fan of Hunter S.Thompson. Just read Generation of Swine & Fearing and Loathing on the Campaign Trail 72′. On the Campaign Trail is arguably his greatest work. You really get a sense that Hunter was a major thinker, a bonafide political commentator. He was a bit like the George Best of the literary circuit: all the incomparable talent in the world destroyed by the tragedy of his own lifestyle & living up to the caricature of his own mythology.

In terms of “The Rum Diary”: maybe it was the mood I was in at the time. Will probably try it again. It had its moments. But I didn’t think it was a Fear & Loathing- pity as it was Bruce Robinson who did “Withnail & I”.

  19. Remember Nakas first game against Dundee Utd,

    thought,this bhoys got class,I wasn’t wrong.

His freekicks were even better than Pierre’s .

That run and shot against Mcgregor was unforgettable.

Young Leitch-Smith, the scorer is looking good but their real star is midfielder Nick Powell, being watched by Arsenal, Mn U, Everton & Spurs. Best player off the Dario Gradi assembly line since Dean Ashton
