‘Emerald’ Green aims for Champions League

1007

There was some misunderstanding that Charles ‘Emerald’ Green’s suggestion that he was hoping to “invest in the playing side right away” might not play well with major creditor HMRC.  Capital introduced to the company after a CVA has nothing to do with a creditor’s assessment of the offer and, if anything, would offer comfort to HMRC that the company would be able to maintain future payments.

The comments are more of a challenge for the football authorities.  The independent SFA appellant panel will today assess whether to increase, reduce of remove Rangers 12 month player registration embargo.  Rangers narrative for the last two weeks is that this embargo could put them out of business.  Apparently, they need to spend MORE money in future to ensure survival.

It remains to be seen if playing victim does them any good at appeal but Green has brushed this away, Rangers now plan to put a team on the field to win the league and reach the Champions League.  Maybe not the wisest PR move.

John O’Hara, the Celtic secretary, had been unable to lure Kelly. Glass, however, was indefatigable and said he had ‘camped on his doorstep’. The 22-year-old was talked into taking part in Celtic’s first ever match, a 5-2 win over Rangers. ‘No Kelly, no Keltic’ became a catch phrase summary of the towering centre half’s significance. ‘I knew that if I could get Kelly, the rest would follow’, said Glass.

They’re passion regarding Celtic is evident and will stand up to the sternest of criticism or scrutiny. They are well within their rights to seek confirmation from CFC as to how they will vote in the event of a newco proposal.

    However, I agree with you.

  3. garygillespieshamstring on

No brainier that Celtic will oppose. It is the easy route. If they vote no, they don’t alienate their own support, knowing full well that the rest will vote them in. The proof of the pudding for me will be how Celtic respond after the new club get voted in.

Will they stand up and fight or bend over and get shafted?

That is the question for me.

    Ggh

  4. what is it with the desire to have these badges ?

i think you should all grow up actually, and put more effort into closing th huns and boycotting the tims, so there.

Not long home. Glasgow Schools U-15 final at CP. St Peter Apostle beat Bishopbriggs High 4-2 in an entertaining game watched by almost 700!

Missed news of Hun appeal and can’t find anything here? What happened?????

  8. When Peter Lawwell made his statement last week, he didn’t say “We will vote no to a newco.” What he did say was, “We are and continue to listen to the feelings of our supporters.”

So what he was in fact doing was telling all the other SPL clubs – We will vote according to the wishes of our supporters – the implication being, and every other club should do the same.

All of which is much more than simply saying – We will vote no.

I do wonder if this is a stance being taken to influence, rather that an absolute position. I didn’t read from that they have refused to renew if Newclub somehow gets entry into the SPL.(I don’t think they will now, not certain, nor any info, just events going against them).

I believe when newco are voted back in Celtic will appeal to Uefa. There is no point entreating Scottish authorities to do the right thing, they wont.Celtic will appeal on the grounds that the clubs which voted accepted they were wrong but for financial reasons felt their hands were tied.Uefa wants self policing for all FA’s,however, that requires them to mete out punishments when required not to fudge issues.

  13. I very much doubt if the actual result of the Newco vote will be disclosed. They will either be in or out.

Still don’t see the point of relegating a limp club. Let them suffer SPLhell.

I was surprised at the lack of coverage today’s appeal got its also most as though there is an unofficial media blackout. Expected Sky camaras to be camped outside Hampden. Strange.

  14. Bloke109 – cheers for the response – as for Mr Lawwell he has a massive decision to make.

So what reason do we have that they are going to wait till after the cup final – whats the excuse?

There is no doubt the GB will renew their SBs, since they are now a part of Celtic folklore…..AND

there is no doubt our Board, who have already stated we don’t need THEM, will vote as we would……

However, it won’t come to that …… We are rid of them and, if there is any integrity, the SFA / SPL will know they are way beyond the possibility of survival……. Their ‘crimes’ have been too far reaching and damaging to the reputation of Scottish Football….

    Good night, Fholks

Unless the board see this as a way out of scotland, they will do nothing.

Deep down they want the huns, the huns provide a fair proportion of our income, I am not believing the MSM, far from it, but the board are predominatly money men, they will give tacit acknowledgement to the support and their wishes.

If they really want, they could use the whole affair as an exit route, we will see soon enough.

Absolutely. The feeling of undiluted joy at watching that YouTube video of naka’s free kick squeezing in past van der Saar or Henrik’s goal in boavista is a million miles from the feeling I have when we play them.

When we beat the Huns I simply feel a sense of relief tinged with real sadness that some bhoys will likely be attacked and some poor wives will be on the end of a beating from angry bears.

Not to mention the feeling of despair at hearing the songs they sing in OUR stadium in 2012.

The Glasgow Derby is an absolutely poisonous fixture.

Our club is great, indeed greater I think, without it.

If I can direct you to Tom’s post above. His take on PL’s statement is the same as mine yet I’ve not seen it voiced anywhere.

I thought that he was extremely cute in what he did and didn’t say. He alerted the other SPL clubs to the fact that Celtic will be listening to their supporters and that this, in part at least, will help to formulate their decision.

My opinion on the GB statement is that if they suspect that Celtic have voted YES then they will boycott Parkhead, it’s not in their nature to bluff and they have built their reputation on passion and statements of intent.

  20. Rollercoaster.

I’ll have a couple of badges off you when ready.

Will give one to G64, in pub I can see him eyeing my badge furtively like Gollum,my precious.

  21. In reality, the Green consortium’s takeover is conditional upon them successfully negitiating a CVA. If that proves to be impossible, they will follow Bill Miller into the sunset.

Only the media have reported, ie speculated, that if they cannnot get a CVA, they will reluctantly be forced to go down the liquidation road with a newco. Neither Green nor the Administrators have said any such thing. In fact, if that were the case, they would have bought the club by now, rather than going through due dilligance, which includes – Can we get a CVA for a few bob?

Make no mistake. The huns are doomed.

I don’t think tacit acknowledgement of the supports wishes will be good enough. There are clearly many fans who are waiting for a strong statement from Celtic.

    A superb post mate.

We all have our own cherished Celtic memories…..They might be TB’s header v Sporting Lisbon, …the drama of Love Street 86,…. Macca’s two goals to win the Centenary Year Double,…. Henrik’s goal-fest in the Treble of 2001… or my personal favourite…watching Harold Brattback role THAT second goal home v St Johnstone on 9 May 1998!!! The thought still makes me smile!

Celtic are a special club with an extraordinary support. Our very existence is built upon charitable foundations. It is my fervent hope that my sons will grow up to develop their own memories of watching Celtic. I know they will do that, regardless of who, and where we play. Celtic FC needs no-one else to flourish.

Newco in the SPL next season.

Is it just the clubs that vote?

Why does one need a vote? Isn’t it against the rules?

Doesn’t Celtic participating in the Vote even for a “No” legitimize the vote?

Why are the huns allowed to vote? Isn’t that a conflict of interest.

So say it comes down to it.

Celtic, Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, Ross County vote No (5)

Motherwell, Kilmarnock, St.Mirren, ICT, St. Johnstone, Newhuns vote yes (6)

Sorry, I didn’t mean the GB were bluffing, but more taking the debate out to the public view(even if limited to CFC fans).

I trust the board will vote against a Newclub being entered directly into the SPL. The GB were just adding enough”economic” pressure, this may persuade some “money men” on the board that the financial effect would be worse if they voted yes. Celtic Park would be less of an experience without them.

I’ll go back now to read Tom’s post.
