‘EVERY STEP OF THE WAY’: CELTIC FANS GET RALLYING CALL

1

CELTIC fans are being urged to rally round to push Neil Lennon’s men into the history books in a crucial campaign as the champions bid for 10 successive titles.

With just two weeks to go before the deadline, Scotland’s title kings have reminded supporters time is running out to secure their season tickets for what is bound to be an enthralling, engrossing and entertaining term.

There are all sorts of mesmerising possibilities in store in the months ahead where the Hoops have the opportunity to overtake Jock Stein’s great team that stormed to the nation’s first nine-titles-in-a-row success.

That ground-breaking sequence kicked off in 1966 and went all the way to 1974, nine glorious years for Celtic followers who had years in the silverware wilderness.

Before Bobby Lennox turned in a right-wing cross from Jim Craig against Motherwell at Fir Park on a gorgeous sunny afternoon of May 7 1966, the Parkhead men had gone 12 years without a flag success.

Prior to that win, Jock Stein was the Celtic captain when they defeated Hibs 3-0 at Easter Road to lift the crown in 1954.

Now the club ask the fans to “stand with us, every step of the way”.

In a statement, they point out: “We are doing all we can to achieve 10-in-a-row and more – it means everything, but your support is crucial in making this a reality and that starts right now. We are asking you to join us by renewing your Season Ticket, before the deadline on Tuesday, June 30.

“The road to 10-in-a-row may start at home, but we want you to be here for all the act10n as the champions set out to deliver yet another, once in a generation achievement.

“It’s our cause, it’s our culture, it’s our calling.
