Evidence mounts as Celtic look set to further improve

930

I’d a look at the fixture list preseason and didn’t expect we’d be top of the table so early, having played only three games with 10 teams having played four, and two of those games coming against our nearest challengers from last season.

But we stepped up to the task. The earlier win at Tynecastle and beating Aberdeen 4-1 on Saturday has issued a warning to all. Bookmakers are offering Celtic’s title odds of between 2/9 and 1/7, and have created a separate ‘Betting without Celtic’ competition. One of Brendan’s jobs will be to remind players that they need to earn the points every time the whistle goes. Defeats come quickly to teams operating at 95%.

Not that we had it all our own way on Saturday. Aberdeen disrupted our rhythm and passing in the middle part of the game. You can see how Brendan has changed the way we use the ball in possession, but there’s still a bit of work to do for it to become more natural looking.

The goals were outstanding. Leigh Griffiths’ effort would be immortalised in song, if one of the Barcelona players due to visit Celtic Park soon had managed it. Tom Rogic’s technique is of particular importance.

Celtic face a lot of packed defences; having someone able to reliably hit an unstoppable shot from around 22 yards changes how a defence will shape up to play us. This is a player Leeds United thought they could buy for £1m recently.

I was pleased to see Dorus de Vries make his debut. He had little to do, and could do nothing about the Aberdeen goal, but if he’s to be relied upon in any of the important games ahead he needed an outing as a Celtic player.

It was equally important Erik Sviatchenko came through 90 minutes with Kolo Toure. The defence is set for some almighty challenges ahead, and will need to face them with little common game-time to allow partnerships to be cemented.

There’s a degree of trepidation for the Champions League task ahead, but pretenders to our domestic dominance beware: evidence mounts that this is a good Celtic team – one which will continue to improve for some time to come.

Prestopans boys…. you have raised a point I have often wondered about …. the name of CQN …Celtic Quick News…

a ‘quick’, as most of you know, is an old term for a living person (as opposed to a dead person) …so this is a blog about Celtic people who are not yet dead …. but, a quick is also the term used to refer to the part of skin that is found underneath a nail (such as a finger nail or a toe nail) …

so, we have a blog devoted to news about non-dead Celts … or a blog about Irish finger nails…

But for the moment I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he is a Tim.

So now Kill Ultra I am addressing you as a fellow Tim.

Can you not see that the overwhelming majority of posters here trust & respect the Res 12 bhoys.

OK, you may share a different approach which is your prerogative.

However coming on here with your single issue topic repeating yourself endlessly is boring and annoying. It is also rude & selfish. The rest of your fellow Tims are on here attempting to debate, learn, amuse and just chew the fat on a whole range of different issues.

If you have a problem with a couple of posters, take it offline, why are you subjecting the rest of us to this personal spat.

I jokingly have posted Gerrard & Borrini just because Brendan has worked with them, Kolo Toure has been immense since he arrived and will bring on others about him, at Perth the other week when Murray Davidson tried to get our captain to react, big Kolo (Stanton copyright Dallas) put his arm around Scott to get him to count to 10, maybe Stevie Gee still has it ?

  28. Interesting evening by the looks of it – will need to read back.

Res12 has significant enemies. This is a professional operation with a great number of contacts and a significant financial motivation to discredit Res12 in general and the letter from Uefa in particular.

Their influence stretched to senior management at two broadsheet newspapers. Both were prepared to act in an underhand, sleekit manner to accommodate their requests.

No ordinary supporter or supporters group could achieve that.

There were discussions on Scottish Football Monitor site around 11-12 August attacking the Res12 Bhoys and making the same accusations – all without any evidence whatsoever.

Did you notice – you probably missed it – the little mention of where Winning Captains lives? I haven’t posted all day yet someone back on the blog for the first time in months randomly mentions that.

Paul told me today that he is settling the Res12 legal bill with the funds – that Kill Ultra has said he didn’t contribute to.

He will then meet CRC – they have been in touch to arrange – and an audit will take place. We paid the ads, got one sum back from the Guardian, spent £100 on graphic design and then paid this second legal bill. Other than the inevitable at source deductions from PayPal all remaining funds – every single penny – will go to Mary’s Meals. The only other possible expenditure is for refunds, last call tonight for that. Still at zero btw.

I went to see the SFA a few months ago. Had a meeting, discussed all things Sevco. There is no love lost ther these days.

I’d love to tell you what we’re up to. The key is in that letter and I am guessing the next one.

I will tell you this. You only hear a little of what the guys working on this have had to endure. It not got long to go and I reckon we’ll need our collective strength to get there.
