TWO
former Celtic players are in the transfer news today.

ADAM MATTHEWS has agreed a two-year deal to reunite with Neil Lennon at Cyprus club Omonia Nicosia.

VAKOUN ISSOUF BAYO, who scored only twice for the Hoops in 16 appearances after Brendan Rodgers bought him in January 2019, is poised to join Watford for £5million.

Welsh international Matthews, 30, has quit Charlton at the end of his contract to join up again with his one-time Parkhead gaffer at the Cypriot Cup winners, according to a report on the Omonia website.

The right-back, who joined Celtic on a free from Cardiff City in 2011 and won four league medals, one Scottish Cup and one League Cup, left to join former Ibrox boss Dick Advocaat at Sunderland in 2015.

Now, though, he will join up once again with the Northern Irishman.

MISFIRING MARKSMAN…Vakoun Issouf Bayo who failed to ignite at Celtic.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Ivorian frontman Bayo, who was a £2million flop in Glasgow and made only four league appearances, went on loan to French side Toulouse in August 2020 and spent last season with Belgian club Charleroi, claiming seven strikes in 12 league appearances.

Watford were relegated from the Premier League last season and new head coach Rob Edwards is ready to splash £5million on the powerhouse hitman who misfired at the Hoops.
