FORMER Celtic favourite Patrick Roberts is about to quit his loan spell with Girona.
The exciting 21-year-old winger, who spent two-and-a-half seasons at the Hoops, has failed to make an impact with the Spanish top-flight outfit.
Roberts has made only three starts since agreeing a season-long temporary transfer from Manchester City in the summer.
There had been reports of Brendan Rodgers being prepared to spend £6million to make his stay at Parkhead permanent before his switch to La Liga.
It looks as though the England Under-20 international will return to his parent club when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, who also showed an interest in the summer, could make another move to seal a deal for the remainder of the campaign.
Roberts, who cost City £12million when he joined from Fulham in July 2015, won three Premiership titles, two League Cups and two Scottish Cups during his stay at Celtic.
