Eye on the prize, Celtic

135

We took Ross County to school the last weekend in October, resting eight players but still scoring four. That was a wakeup call for County, though, who turned a corner at the start of November. Since then they’ve played the four teams which separate them from Celtic, winning twice and drawing twice.

Partick Thistle busted coupons in Christmas Eve, inflicting County’s only defeat in two months. They are top half of the table and undefeated in two visits to Glasgow this season. Eye on the prize tonight, Celtic.

There are only minutes left on our competition to win two tickets for the Celtic end at Ibrox on Saturday, courtesy of club sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, in aid of our Mary’s Meals project. Competition closes at 13:00.

Funds raised will go towards putting food on the table for kids attending the Sean Devereux Primary School in Liberia.

To win all you need to do is donate a minimum of £5 at this MyDonate page AND email me your address: celticquicknews@gmail.com , putting Liberia in the subject line of your email. The winner will be chosen from the emails received and will be verified with the donations, so please put a common name or pseudonym in both.

The money goes directly to Mary’s Meals and will be allocated to the Sean Devereux school within days. Even if you don’t win, you’ll have done a great thing for spending £5, to get on with it; minutes left!!!

  1. As we are going to have a break after Saturday, I would play our strongest team tonight . For me, that is:

    Gordon

    Lustig Simunovic Svietchenko Izaguirre

    Forrest Armstrong Brown Rogic Sinclair

    Dembele or Griffiths.

I won`t be at all surprised if Brendan`s selection bears little resemblance to my selection!

Rogic injured, McGregor suspended so either Roberts or Christie playing off the striker.

  3. Gary

Thanks for that. I hadn`t realised Tom was still out. In which case, I would give Christie another game. One half each for Paddy and Jamesie. This picking of teams,, of course, is just to pass the time before I depart for Paradise. Brendan will decide and I will bow to his superior knowledge 0:-)

    Cheerio for now,

Hope so, rather him than Roberts for Saturday so needs a run out.

Never thought I would be saying that at the end of last season.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday.

I’m in the office today, but it is quiet, so I thought I would have a quick look at the MLS transfer rules, a copy of which is attached.

    http://pressbox.mlssoccer.com/content/roster-rules-and-regulations

From a very cursory review, it looks like Loans to non-MLS teams seem to require league approval.. As for transfers, the League does get a piece of the transfer fee, but I dont see that the League approval is required for transfers. see Section 4(b) methods of releaasing players.

  6. Looking forward to tonight’s game . , but would not be the least bit surprised if a Celt sees red . tonight . The mibs have there part to play for the cause over the next two matches . With regards the Supreme Court judgement , can’t see it going our way . This is the finale .a bad decision for them and it’s curtains , for all things rangers , it won’t be allowed to happen . the judges will have had there orders long ago IMHO .

i thought tfc got the defoe money b ut could be wrong.

think they paid 5 million pound for him.

  8. if pl screews br it will be very interesting to see what dd does, that would give us a idea where our club is heading. i think br would come out on top v pl.

All this Talk of Eye on the Prize Celtic is maybe a Bit Derogatory towards Brendan Rodgers considering his Professionalism since he took over..

Or Posters are still thinking of Ronny and Johnny..【ツ】

Personally I think Another team won’t have there Eye on the Prize tonight.. St Johnstone are the last team to beat them at Ibrox 13 months ago and should have beat them in October drawing 1-1..

In Danny Swanson they have a Player that has scored more Goals than Miller Rangers Top Scorer.. Garner their Worst Striker and Waghorn-Pen Who doesn’t look as though he wants to be there.. but might want to turn it on as he is in the Shop Window..

I also think in Wright they have a Better Manager..

Think you might be right about a red card tonight.

But not sure I agree with you on the Big Tax case.

This is between zobmies and the tax man (and really several other clubs in England, but not Celtic) HMRC see this as a test case, and want to get a positive ruling that can then be used as leverage against several ofthe larger clubs in Englands, some of whom I am given to understand also used similar schemes. So, Sevco’s status is probably small potatoes down south. the real target is the revenue from the English clubs if the zombies’ appeal is dismissed.

We could benefit, depending upon the finding, and if our Board were inclined to pursue certain matters (compensation and titles for those won illegally by the zombies). But our Board doesn’t seem to want to go down that path, so I think the benefit to Celtic is likely negligible.

I am perhaps oversimplifying it, but that is how I see it.

  11. So it’s MIB McLean for the hun game. Predictable really going off his form with us.

    Anyone remember the ICT semi-final?

How he gave our players the protection they needed at sheep land earlier in the season, or, there’s the perfectly good goal chalked aff at Dun/Utd’s place when Delia was the gaffer, i’m sure there’s much more.

SFA’s last gamble at foiling our winning run before the close of the year.

It was Dermot that brought in Ronny and Gambled on CL Qualification..

It was Dermot that went Personally after Brendan in the Days after the Semi Final Defeat as he was Sounded out beforehand..

I agree100% …. BR answers to PL who answers to DD …. I know DD doesn’t have 51%, but, in reality he calls the shots …and back in 2012, DD made it clear that he wanted Sevco ‘back’ … so what PL wants or doesn’t want doesnt really matter …

and, if BR does well enough that he can pose a challenge to PL’s authority … it will be because he has had such good results (mostly in Europe) … and if that is the case, that success will afford him other options, and wont stay where/if he feels his vision is not respected/supported….

it all about the money. there is nothing unique to Celtic in this, mind…. coaches/managers always want to spend money, and owners/presidents want to save money …

hopefully, BR gets the team to be so successful to the point that is problem we have to worry about….

  18. I am always amazed by posts on here that apparently out of nowhere we have DD / PL / BR – falling out with all sorts of outcome being forecast and BR walking away ffs

the ruling can be made to HMRC satisfaction without any effect from outwith football on Sevco.

Celtic know that a certain treble will quell any ST rebellions and also that the stupidity and abject submissiveness of the Celtic Support knows no bounds. The Celtic support has no integrity NONE. Celtic will not kill the Old Firm brand. They will never make any official statement on it. Without the Old Firm brand there is no TV deal. There is no profit.
