It was a fantastic result from Celtic Park last night for Scotland’s poor who are dependent on food aid. Fans arrived in droves before kick off with bags full of provisions to restock food banks across the region.
I can sympathise with the SPFL to an extent. Without a sponsor, they are even more dependent on satisfying television, and satisfying television often involves making unpopular decisions, but the mess they’ve made of scheduling the final Championship fixtures of the season is deeply embarrassing for our game.
Our game is looking more and more like it’s being run like a Banana Republic. Generalissimo Doncaster has a case to answer.
I’m pretty sure no one at Celtic considered Leigh Griffiths as their number one striker when he signed a year ago. That he has become so, is as much a result of his forward competition failing to deliver as much as his own talents, but there’s no denying Leigh’s ability. He’s turned into a vibrant, productive striker who scores all types of goals.

My late dad’s favourite Celtic centre. I don’t remember seeing him play unfortunately but have his Autobiography signed with a message to me.
Prized possession. :)

an interesting article on Faecal Transplants caught my eye….
You would have to be desperate to take a sample of your husband’s excrement, liquidise it in a kitchen blender and then insert it into your body with an off-the-shelf enema kit.
I mean however your day is going ………it will probably top this …..unless of course your a sevcomedian ……

Yet more evidence that my memory is absolutely not to be relied upon. .Really surprised by the torrential rain.I really hate rain .Surprised I didn’ t stay in.
I once found myself seated next to Joe McBride on a flight to New York for St Patrick’s week. A lovely man and great company. Half-way across the Atlantic we discovered he knew my father, who was extremely chuffed when I told him.

Goal machine was how my dad described Joe McBride. :)
He would compare every subsequent Celtic number 9 to Joe. When I became a big fan of Dixie Deans and would shout his name, my dad would say to me, “Dixie is no bad son, but never a Joe McBride.” :)

That sounds about right, you had to have seen it, and my big brother told me ;-)

I don`t know the details of the Scot yet. In fact, I am not totally convinced at this stage that it is the genuine article but it should arrive next week and I can check it out. i will keep you posted.

Sepp Blatter has been likened to Jesus, Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill as 10 Concafaf members gave their backing to the incumbent for the Fifa presidency elections in May.
The declarations were made at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) congress.
Dominican Republic FA president Osiris Guzman compared the Swiss to iconic historical figures, also including Moses, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King.
“Membership is sending a message that we continue to support Blatter,” said Concafaf president Jeffrey Webb.

You watching the game with your family member I was chatting with last night? ;))
Ann Budge: the Iron Lady of Scottish Fitba?
Could be.
But I wish our lot (PL et al.) would come out from behind the canopy.
This SFA/SPFL charade has been going on for far too long.
It’s now beyond embarrassing!
Ditch the lot of them and get competent teams of people in place: fitba people with the interest of the game at heart.
Celtic is being dragged down, when we should be a driving force.
Celts need to be the prime movers!

HIBERNIAN WELCOMES FINAL ROUND DECISION
Hibernian FC today welcomed the intervention of SPFL broadcast partner Sky in ensuring that the final round of Championship fixtures can be played in a way that supports sporting integrity.
The intervention means that the SPFL has now agreed that all of the final round fixtures will kick off at the same time – 12.15 pm – on Saturday May 2nd.
While the role of our broadcast partner is beyond reproach in the matter, Hibernian remain deeply concerned at what we consider to be the mishandling of the situation by the SPFL, the body who are supposed to be the guardians of the competition and its sporting integrity.
Conversely, the Club has been gratified by the many messages of support received from clubs throughout Scotland, from supporters of many Clubs and from the media on this issue. We would specifically like to thank Heart of Midlothian FC and Rangers FC for their public statements of support.
Hibernian FC believes a review of the governance of the SPFL is now urgently required to ensure our league competitions are run professionally and with appropriate respect for all member clubs. The way in which the SPFL has communicated with Clubs involved in this situation has been far from acceptable.
Hibernian is deeply concerned that the SPFL sought to abdicate its responsibility, choosing instead to shuffle the onus on to its individual member clubs, and in particular on to Hibernian.
Leeann Dempster, Chief Executive, said: “In my view our position was made crystal clear to the SPFL, despite attempts being made to suggest our Club had not responded to make its position known. In response to the SPFL’s passing of the buck, Hibernian sent a timely email which stated that with deeply meaningful games involved we believed the responsibility lay with the SPFL to do what was right to ensure that sporting integrity of the competition was unimpeachable, and pointed to the protocols around final round fixtures which have been followed for some time.
“The SPFL chose to ignore this clear view that the duty to ensure a level playing field lay with them, and not with any individual club or group of clubs. Instead, a second email arrived seeking clarification on whether we were requesting a change to play at the same time as Hearts and Rangers or not. If we did not make such a specific request, we were told, they would “assume” we were content with the arrangement as proposed. This was disappointing.
“In our view, instead of doing what was right they sought to place the onus on Clubs to achieve parity – utterly contrary to protocols they themselves confirmed had existed for many years and in stark contrast to their plans for the final round of fixtures in the Premiership.
“This was a ludicrous situation entirely of the SPFL’s making. For example, in our view if we had requested a switch to coincide with the Hearts v Rangers clash it could have seen Queen of the South disadvantaged. Sporting integrity is sporting integrity and must be applied equally to all Clubs – and that is surely the job of the SPFL.”

More than a club, also a ludge, open to (nearly) all!: > )
