A stream of criticism appeared in yesterday’s comments section to greet media coverage of yesterday’s Scottish Cup draw away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle or Dunfermline on 4 February. Such is our lot (long) after shock cup defeats; remember, these guys literally have to write something. No one mentioned 1961 so put your money on a trip to Fife next month.
A few moments ago Celtic confirmed Beram Kayal went through his operation yesterday and is now targeting a return to action for preseason. Irrespective of the circumstances of the incident in which he was injured, Beram’s is another in a long list of soft tissue injuries Celtic players have suffered in recent seasons, a fact which should engage minds at the club.
Rangers issued a really curious statement following the suspension of trading in their shares by the Plus Stock Exchange. Many Rangers fans have invested thousands of pounds in club shares and bonds, so one would have expected to read the obligatory suggestion from the company that investors take professional advice when addressing the withdrawal of the share disposal service. Still, at least they didn’t suggest “Rangers Football Club PLC could survive any administration event but feels it would not be the end of the world if it didn’t”. That kind of comment from those charged to look after their interests really would alarm shareholders.

My answer is : neither. By the time it is with these members, it is possibly too late or us to do anything about it.
However, I would like to develop my argument a little. My interpretation of article 14 is that it was designed to allow a member of the SFl to parachute in at short notice. This is particularly important with refernec to what the definition of a club is in terms of articles.
At the beginning of the articles is a definition section. Here is how a club is defined:-
“Club means the undertaking of an association football club which is, for the time being, entitled, in accordance with the Rules, to participate in the League”
This definition raises 2 important questions whihc the board must answer:
1.
As above
1.
Anyway, last word on it is that I have been banging on for a long time to the poor souls who have to listen that there are two types of player in the SPL. Those who watch a ball coming to them and think about how they are going to control it. They hugely outnumber the players who see a ball coming and before it arrives have decided what they are going to do with it and execute it with ease. Naka was by far the best in recent years. Aiden had it. Kris Commons has it. Hooper and Stokes seem to have it when playing together. And Paddy has it. I think their quality stands out.
Struggling after that. Zheng Zhi maybe.
“He told us it would be a rough road and costs would have to be cut but we would get through it.”
How is this possible when his wealth is “Off The Scale” to quote the Daily Record… :)

None of the SFA group you mention I would bet on to do the right thing, and I include Mr Riley who works for Celtic.!! Only salvation here if he is instructed.
The statement from the RSA is truly staggering
A more delusional bunch of football supporters you would struggle to find
They truly deserve everything that is coming to them
Whittaker out for 6 weeks. Lovely

I’ll rephrase that then, if you are old enough to work, old enough to pay income tax, then you are old enough to voteand have a say in whereyour hsard earned money is going!’
Children under 16 are allowed to work part time.
There is no minimum age at which you are liable to pay income tax.
You’re clueless.

knoxy 2000 great news about young Oscar,I am a great believer in prayer, and will keep in my prayers.
Belated Feliz Ano Novo to yeez all.
All this OldCo/NewCo, administration/insolvency, will they/won’t they talk about the Uglies is misleading.
I can now, exclusively, reveal that the forthcoming implosion of the Death Star has nothing to do with financial doings. No, that’s just a smokescreen. The real reason is that pesky global warming (again).

Membership of the SPL automatically entitles membership of the SFA.
The articles allow a newco to become a member provide the requisite number vote in favour. I suspect that’s what was envisages when article 14 was drafted.
I understand the point you’re making, but I think your construction is strained.
Sorry about that. I must have hit submit by accident.
Actually there is really only one important point here. The club must already be participating in the league. However, the League is the SPL. Therefore only another SPL club can take the share of Oldco. It is that club which will take the place of the Oldco. Now, there would have to be a meeting of all members to do decide which club would get the share. Nevertheless, it would stilll have to go to a club and not to anyone else.
The point I make is that there cannot be a vote on a resolution to transfer to anyone other than an existing SPL club. What happens thereafter is for that club to decide.
Re the independence thing.
I think exiles should be given the chance to vote on it,as long as your birth certificate proves your nationality, you register to vote in a referendum for Scotland,I feel lots of us hold onto the idea that one day we will return home and should have a say.
les brennan thanks mate didnt think it was true

Do you know many kids that earn over the tax threshold?
PS and you’re a Loyalist, don’t ever forget it!
Any Lennoxtown moles know how the 2 trialists and Lustig faired today?
Ernie
My argument is that article 14 is a discrete area of the rules. It is the only part of the whole articles which deals with the adminstration event situation.
There is no provision for transferring to anyone else except a person who owns and operates a SPL club. The problem for Newco is that it is not a club “which for the time being is entitled to participate in the League”. It cannot do so unless it has the share of Oldco. Therefore it is cut out of the transference procedure altogether. I think this is a clear interpretation of the articles and does not strain the language used.
But I could be wrong!

You said that if people could work and pay tax they should be allowed to vote in a referendum.
That was your reasoning.
People below thw age of 16 can be employed. They can also be self employed.
There is no minimum age at which you are required to pay income tax.
Should a 14 year old with a paper round be entitled to vote? If not, why not?
Should a precocious 14 year old pupil of Kelvinside Academy with a share portfolio and an investment income on which he pays income tax be entitled to vote? If not, why not?
Should a 10 year old with a private income who is taxed be entitled to vote? If not, why not?
Should an adult who can’t or won’t work be entitled to vote?
Should an adult who doesn’t or won’t pay tax be entitled to vote?
Knoxy.

Your argument is: which came first the chicken or the egg?.
I think the answer is that they would both be created simultaneously ie the transferee club would be come a club, within the meaning of the articles, once the transfer was approved.
Paddy IMO should be given a free role behind the strikers, the man is a genius at finding space. There are some players where a place must be found for them,ie Brown, why not Paddy.Slan
Knoxy,great news,Happy new year..
