Financial Fair Play, Winding Up Orders, new CQN Magazine

868

Scottish clubs are now subject to Uefa Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations which insist club’s pay creditors in a timely manner or become subject to sanctions.  These pesky rules should prevent debts reaching a maturity of more than six months old and becoming subject of a Winding-up Order.  I am sure old Heavily Conflicted, also known as the SFA president, will have sprung into action on hearing recent news.

The Rangers yesterday issued a short statement following Channel 4’s story that Orlit Enterprise threatened a Winding-Up Order, insisting, “Rangers Football Club is capable of meeting any debts presented legitimately and we would like to stress to our supporters there is no threat to the Club whatsoever”.  They really need to stay on-message… football clubs are never threatened; it’s only the Company which can be liquidated!  Apparently.

I hear Charles Green is on an international bucket collection, Dubai and then onto Australia.  Meanwhile, it is crucial no one disturbs his important work.  When you think of the people who could have taken ownership of Ibrox last year, he has been absolutely perfect.

On other matters……..

The new edition of CQN Magazine is out and available for your consumption.  Written by and for Celtic fans, it is another Celtic joy!

I’m also delighted to report we have been seriously diss’ed by the Italians ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League game. Notes for the dressing room wall coming up soon!

James Forrest, nice article on Gazza.

It refers to him as the class clown. So often, the clowns are just desperate to be liked and to have friends. His story is such a sad one.

  2. Never caught the webcast, what it appears to have proven again is they remain in denial, come this time next year when were talking about Liquidation The Sequel they will still be in denial,

a Big Bhoy did it and ran away will start to wear thin, even if they themselves dont want to admit it.

Any sign of LNS or is he perhaps saving it up for us to have a right good Tuesday next week?

  3. It could be an idea for Celtic to do this next season.

Australian A-League club Sydney FC, the current club of Italian and Juventus legend Alessandro del Piero, will be wearing a special one-off “Community Strip” in their next game on Sunday against Brisbane Roar. The shirt was designed by a Sky Blues member and will help raise money for Sydney FC community partner – Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI).

I can distinctly recall Craig Whyte being hand-shook (is that a word?) and back-slapped all the way up Edmiston Drive.

If they had found a donkey (Kirk Broadfoot?) they would have strewn palms in his path – now they want to crucify him.

So was Craig Whyte the messiah or just a very naughty boy?

  6. Is it correct that Celtic will have had 1 million fans through the turnstyles come next Tuesday v Juve?

Any links to this story if their is one?

Clear rules on what to do in the event a club entering administration would have shackled the SFA/SPL and they did not want that.

Now they know the consequences it should be but one of many points they must address.

On how it all came about: club licensing rules, even before beefed up by UEFA FFP had sections that if adhered to would have stopped Rangers doing what they did. The SFA simply refused to apply them properly and the last thing they want is an enquiry into why not.

AT’s agenda is governance, proper governance at all all levels across the spectrum and if he has to get a Rangers supporter to reinforce something that would be good for everyone then power to his elbow.

I am dismayed that the SFA STILL think they can get away without an enquiry and recommendations to stop it happening again but the fat lady has not stopped singing.

    James Forrest @ 13 08 .

A good piece of writing ..

I know people who lived in the same road as Gazza . They used to talk of people in the town making money from getting booze ‘ out of hours ‘for Gazza.

Saw him on the tele recently ” —–wheeled out to wave at Lazio fans ——commentator said this –

” How we laughed when he said —- ” I like Rome but I’m looking forward to seeing Lazio ” but now the poor man doesn’t know what planet he is on “

  15. That guy on At,s debate is a typical sevconian, they see PL,s hand behind everything and refuse to blame themselves for their own plight. The years of overspending they lapped it up when they were winning and refused to ask where the money was coming from, even now they are at it again, one statement from the club has allowed them all to plunge their heads right back into that nice comfortable bucket of sand, hell mend them.

  19. The football fraternity also have a lot to answer for in the case of Gazza. I recall him joining the ITV world cup 2002 pundit team, alongside the likes of Andy Townsend, McCoist and Robbie Earle.

After each of the pundits had given their considered opinion of the play, they’d all turn to Gazza with barely concealed grins, as if to say “go on Gazza, say something daft”. They were routinely disappointed when instead he attempted to intelligently discuss the game. This was proved pointless when the other pundits would react with the likes of “I bet no one understood a word of that, Gazza!”, and chuckle moronically amongst themselves.

He was regularly treated by football as a court jester, a clown, good for nothing except making a fool of himself.

Lads it’s Alex’s first web chat give him a break, perhaps someone from our side can give their views next time.

    ———–

That is a fair point -didn’t realise it was his first webcast

The format has possibilities – pictures and sound was good similar to a workplace conference/webcast

I suppose the frustration was allowing a deluded Sevconian to prattle on about Whyte being the problem, or SFA regulations or dark forces working anti-rankers agendas etc.. when clearly there was (remains) a much bigger problem, and had been for some time, in the shape of David Murray chasing Moonbeams with everyone else’s dosh

someone had to pick that the guy up and nail that point and it didn’t happen everyone seems afraid to say it…. afraid and being warned off by nutters ?

unless Thommo addresses that issue in debate the whole thing goes around in circles forever and he will be just a shade above what we already see sometimes on auntie beeb

The alleged comments appeared in a Turin newspaper .

They were then cut and pasted in the likes of the Daily Mail..

Platini then claimed that the newspaper had significantly distorted his words by omitting a large part of what he actually said .

Newspaper then published the full version of what Platini had said —nothing about Juve being a stitch on for the last 8 merely an opinion that Juve could have got a harder tie..

Nobody seems to have seen fit to question why dumb-ass Platini saw fit to comment on Juventus in the first place .

I don’t think for a minute that the charlatan raised 22m, What I have been told it was just under 9m, The money to buy the club would have to be paid back out of this figure plus other loans from individuals, if it was only 400k that you owed and you had loads of money in the bank why would you let it get to the stage of a WUO, the bad publicity received from this is damaging, the man was under pressure to do the share issue to get money in

  32. Sign of the times… lol!

Corby’s Glasgow Rangers Supporters Club has closed its doors after struggling for months with financial problems.

The club, in Rockingham Road, was once said to be the largest Rangers supporters club in England.

It is now up for sale and the site is expected to be bought by developers. Proceeds of the sale will be used to pay off its debts. A notice on the front door says the locks have been changed on behalf of the receivers. It is understood Probitas, insolvency practitioners in Sheffield, are dealing with the club’s affairs.

The building is being sold on behalf of the receivers by Andrew and Ashwell, commercial property agents based in Leicester.

Mike Allwood, a director with the company, said: “The club has been in difficulty for some time and everything was done to help it to continue.

“It was hoped that the site at the back of the club, the car park, could be sold to pay off its debt. There was also a plan to build a smaller club on the site but that wasn’t viable.

“It is a great shame that the club has been forced to close. It was a real landmark in Corby.

“Like many other clubs and pubs in the country trading was difficult because of the recession. The rate they are closing is frightening.”

Mr Allwood said there has been considerable interest in the club. The single storey building includes a lounge bar, games room and a function room with a stage.

Offers are being sought for the club which Mr Allwood said he expects will make way for a residential development, subject to planning approval being granted. A meeting was held at the club last week, involving brewers Molson Coors UK and other interested parties, and it was hoped a solution to its difficulties would be found.

The club had a travel section which organised coaches to Rangers’ home games.

When the club opened it had around 1,500 members and it is understood when it closed on Sunday there were only 220 on the books.
