Financial Fair Play, Winding Up Orders, new CQN Magazine

868

Scottish clubs are now subject to Uefa Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations which insist club’s pay creditors in a timely manner or become subject to sanctions.  These pesky rules should prevent debts reaching a maturity of more than six months old and becoming subject of a Winding-up Order.  I am sure old Heavily Conflicted, also known as the SFA president, will have sprung into action on hearing recent news.

The Rangers yesterday issued a short statement following Channel 4’s story that Orlit Enterprise threatened a Winding-Up Order, insisting, “Rangers Football Club is capable of meeting any debts presented legitimately and we would like to stress to our supporters there is no threat to the Club whatsoever”.  They really need to stay on-message… football clubs are never threatened; it’s only the Company which can be liquidated!  Apparently.

I hear Charles Green is on an international bucket collection, Dubai and then onto Australia.  Meanwhile, it is crucial no one disturbs his important work.  When you think of the people who could have taken ownership of Ibrox last year, he has been absolutely perfect.

On other matters……..

The new edition of CQN Magazine is out and available for your consumption.  Written by and for Celtic fans, it is another Celtic joy!

I’m also delighted to report we have been seriously diss’ed by the Italians ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League game. Notes for the dressing room wall coming up soon!

So Charlie is going to get their 3-year European “ban” overturned? And how exactly will they qualify? Did he not see the cup game on Saturday?

  7. @AngelaHaggerty how come a WUO can be served on “Hearts” or “Kilmarnock” but never the company that runs them? mmmm ….

  9. Re earlier post about Steven Whittaker, just shows what a few months away from the theatre of hate can do for you.

  10. “The Rangers” are NOT banned from European compentition. In fact, they are not eligible for european competition as the club cannot produce 3 years of Audited accounts.

The reason why the club cannot produce 3 years of audited accounts is because they are a new club.

When the club has been in existance for 3 seasons, they should be able to prodice audited accounts for 3 seasons, and become eligible for european competition (subject to qualification).

This issue is over a investor advisor who reckons he is owed more than the usual 5 to 7% because our floatation has been so successful. After negotiations there is an agreed amount to be paid!! As usual nothing to it!!

    ———–

    REPLY

    ————–

That does not sound feasible though.

The advisor would only be able to progress a winding up order if he had a legal claim for more than 7%. The contract would have had a % written into it, which would be pretty obvious. You cant just wind a company up because you think that they should give you more out of the goodness of their hearts.

Anyway, if the scheme was successful, then he would have got 7% of a larger amount, giving him a better return.

Not saying its not true, just seems a little odd.

    ——————

BBC claiming that no agreement has been reached now. So either BBC & Channel 4 are lying, or something isn’t right.

If nothing else, the longer this festers the more it will affect the share price. Some proper clarification and not some “unworthy of comment” brush off wouldn’t go amiss.

I mean, not even the chip shop cup.

    Long may it continue.

  14. Maybe the advisor is basing his commission on the quoted £22m they were boasting about rather than the £9m which may be closer to reality.

  15. I think Thommo is playing them like a big salmon.

He is paying out a bit of slack here as it is his first webcast and he can’t be seen to be too hard on them.

But they have pissed him off by trying to intimidate him and he will nail their sorry carcasses to the floor IMHO of course.

Thommo has been excellent and will get to the bottom of the whole stinking mess whilst others wouldn’t have bothered.

  19. Laptop Loyal bringing you yesterdays CQN News today…

The company which runs Rangers Football Club faces the prospect of a winding-up order over an unpaid bill, despite denials from the club.

BBC Scotland understands no agreement has been reached between Rangers and a Singapore based company, Orlit Enterprises.

That is despite a spokesperson for Rangers saying a deal had been reached subject to paperwork.

It is thought two disputed bills amount to around £400,000.

BBC Scotland understands Orlit Enterprises are investigating the possibility of raising a winding up order against the company which currently runs Rangers within the next seven to 10 days, if the dispute continues.

Orlit Enterprises is run by the Singapore-based businessman Chan Fook Meng. He is a former business associate of the current Rangers chief executive Charles Green.

Mr Green is a former chairman of Mr Chan’s company, Nova Enterprises. That company is also linked to current Rangers finance director Brian Stockbridge, who was an advisor during his time at the stockbrokers Allenby Capital when it was called Tembusu Investments Ltd.

  25. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) suspends Tunisian referee Slim Jdidi after his performance in Wednesday’s African Cup of Nations semi-final between Burkina Faso and Ghana.

Jdidi controversially gave Burkina Faso forward Jonathan Pitroipa a second yellow card for simulation that sees the 26-year-old miss Sunday’s final against Nigeria.

“Referees are graded on each performance and based on his marks the referee from Tunisia is now suspended for a period of time still to be determined,” general secretary Hicham El Amrani said,
