Foregone conclusion territory

1955

I don’t know about you but practically every football thought I have at the moment is connected to where we go next. The small matter of winning the league title has slipped into ‘foregone conclusion’ territory, which is always dangerous.

The players will be no different from the rest of us, but they will have more on their minds. A change of manager is likely to mean a new system, and new squad requirements. They need to focus on making the best of the next five games. One thing that has been reassuring this week is Ronny Deila’s comments. His professional pride is clear; he’ll apply himself fully to the task in hand until the end of the season.

Eyes on the task of winning the league, as soon as possible.

Has the bhoy nesbit made an impression at thistle.

Seems he has the whole team in stitches with his “Frank Spencer””Ooooohhh Betty”

    00000000000

    haahahahhahaha

i am reminded of a wee scene in the old ibm , we were at a department meeting when the very strict allmost authrotarian manager was picking indiviudual employees to give them a grilling on some change of direction …………

he turns to Pat (a very smart argumentative fella)

so Pat whats your impression of the new plant manager ?

“am sorry dan, but i dont do imperssions”

  3. i would like moyes as coach but he might go back to everton.

my next choice would be john hughes. i know its not sexy.

  4. Geaoroid 1998 Sad news. 10 men dead. The definitive book on the Hunger strike. A must read. HH

Certainly one of the best books on those dark days.

  6. Paddy Gallagher on

Maybe a selection panel of four to vote for our new manager.

David Moyes you have four yeses!!

Don’t know where I got the insperation for this idea!

    Petec,

KT for captain. Sack most of the duds.

    ……………………………………………………………….

KT could easily be Our Capitano. I think Erik is better suited at this Time.

Wee Kieran is already a Captain on that Pitch. That is why we ALL love him so much.

Just saw the incident with simeone in the athletico v malaga game . Sent off and facing a ban for the rest of the season

  9. To continue with the current feudal structure where we are beholden to a wealthy absentee landlord who grants power over our club to a bean counter is outdated beyond belief. It’s a recipe for disaster.

  10. A fiver for your thoughts 8.16pm

Spot on. …. Our day has come. We can pay our way and hold our heads high.

Strategies like that suggested by the oldest clown from the jungle would have prevented that for Celtic and simply sent us the way of the other lot..

MON’s begging bowl at the 3rd rights issue to pay our way showed that clearly.

Of course things could have been done marginally better with greater vision but that is another debate.

  11. Listening to BBC narrative today is astounding.

Our guy wins the top league with the highest budget and same record as their guy winning the second top league with the second biggest budget vs several part time teams.

Our guy us a dud. Their guy is a hero …

Grand amigo I was up early with the missus providing a list of chores! Power washing for 5 hours an area of decking that would have taken me 5 minutes to cut had it been grass!

    Pourquoi?

  13. HT

Well after ye telling me yer sleep pattern was disturbed, I did tell ye we would extend our lead. In celebration, I left a special message for you ( a wee poem) on here at 7-50 ish this morning….

Something you have in common with Mark warbo the magic hat Warburton…. you both prefer grass to kiddy onny surfaces ;)

  15. Twisty

Ha ha got you now! :-)

If we win tomorrow, which I expect us too, I’ll be sleeping like a baby all week!

I’ll go and have a look for your piece of literature :-)

  16. David Beresford Ellis RIP. Excellent book on the 1981 hunger strike.

Won’t watch the game tomorrow as I’ll be on Hill 16 supporting the Dubs in the Division 1 league final. Taking part in the GAA’s centenary celebrations of the 1916 Rising afterwards.

Hopefully Leigh Griffiths will live up to his promise of a first class performance for Ronny. Ronny deserves it.

Barca get slated for a loss of form and bounce back with an 8-0 and a 6-0 victories. Suarez bites back with 8 goals in 2 games too

Hopefully we do the same tomorrow but can’t see us getting 3 pens

  18. Watching Beeb 2 how doth thou Celts protest thy much ado about nothing whether it’s thine Moyes i see before me or is it another shrew giveth by Desmondo the Merchant of credit or is it all a midsummer’s dream :))

  19. Twisty

You have a gift my friend! :-)

I imagine that if we win tomorrow I may be rather restless next Friday!

If it means I have something in common with that nugget I’ll happily deck the entire garden!

    Watching Beeb 2 …………

    ========

To EBT or not EBT ……

  22. Now I get frustrated when I read Celtic have downsized, cause it ain’t on spend ? It is on quality though

    Ruggyman from earlier

Would any of the following be missed ? ( and here in lies a problem with our club)

Do we need 3 goalkeepers ? Let one go and use our u21 as back up

    Blackett

    Izzy

    Efe

    Janko or Lustig

    Commons ???

    Allan

    Johansen

    Mcgregor

    Forrest

Rogic ( last year of current deal and not resigned yet, so sell)

    McKay Stevens ???

    Kazim Richards ??

    Cole

    Ciftci

    Stokes

    Scepovic

There’s 17 players and we still have a first team squad of 22 with some out on loan to come back ( Henderson, McMullan , Fisher, O’Connell etc) plus Ajer to join in the summer

Now how much could we make and save by removing those 17 ?

    Sign

Better quality with the money now feed up and available

A right back ( no idea who plays for development squad there )

    An attacking midfielder with pace

2 new mobile and pacey forwards ( how about Benteke on loan :-))

Let’s see Christie get a chance, Armstrong in middle if midfield, I would have signed McGinn last year, so get him in, give the youth as returning chance, plus those pushing in the U21 squad

    Hail Hail

    .

  23. Reading some of the comments on what was said on BBC today, not surprising. I honestly don’t know why people bother with them. Shortbread, SSB, Daily Record, Sky, we know what they are all like. Ignoring them is the only way. People getting paid to give an opinion are desperate for a reply or a comment. Controversy and criticism is food and drink to them.
