Foregone conclusion territory

1955

I don’t know about you but practically every football thought I have at the moment is connected to where we go next. The small matter of winning the league title has slipped into ‘foregone conclusion’ territory, which is always dangerous.

The players will be no different from the rest of us, but they will have more on their minds. A change of manager is likely to mean a new system, and new squad requirements. They need to focus on making the best of the next five games. One thing that has been reassuring this week is Ronny Deila’s comments. His professional pride is clear; he’ll apply himself fully to the task in hand until the end of the season.

Eyes on the task of winning the league, as soon as possible.

I’ve still to finish washing it! It’ll be painted once that’s done.

Can you tell I hate doing it?!

Ronny will have been well aware of the possible outcomes of his tenure as will the power brokers who must have filled him in chapter and verse on how things may unfold.

with all eventualities considered for by the astute custodians of our club there must surely be a contingency ready to roll from where we now find ourselves……….

I agree with with your analysis of what’s needed but there are some on your list I’d keep.

Those with question marks, let the new Manager assess,

Still well overc12 players we need to move on

Sign 4 of quality to replace

And not currently on our scouts list :-)))

Would also give Mulgrew a one year deal but would keep McGregor and Rogic.

Hope Christie gets a start tomorrow, he’s played enough games at this level. Let’s see what he can do.

    Very, very funny :-)

    Cowiebhoy

I’d keep Commons. CKR can go along with the others but I’d be looking to tie up Rogic on a new deal.

And aye, let the new manager decide on who the new recruits are!!

Seen as the club don’t have many right backs, I’d keep both Lustig and Jancko.

Jancko obviously needs to get fit and stay fit. However he should see next season as his chance to do to Lustig , as Tierney has done to Izzy.

Lustig hasn’t hit the heights this season…. But I still think he is worth keeping. 29 yr old, Sweden international. You don’t chase that experience out the door.

  9. Timreaper & HT

Rogic was offered a new deal, still not signed – also struggles to play 90mins ?

Sorry don’t rate McGregor, watch him again last week, came on and Did his usual wandering , had to move Roberts because of this

Christie has 2 seasons experience with ICT in the SPFL, where he did shine, let’s see what he can do with Celtic, could play him wide left role ?

    Hail Hail

  10. I’ve read two posters today say they would keep Christie, but let Allan go. I’m not sure how decisions like that can be made on how little we’ve seen of both players this season. I would like to see both given a chance, as they play attacking football.

  11. I also think, you don’t chase Brown or Mulgrew out the door. Whatever is needed, we still need a Scottish , experienced presence within the squad.

If K.Miller can aid Rangers at 37, then both Brown and Mulgrew have much to offer Celtic F.c.

I’d chase James Forrest though. Too many seasons, not enough impact. Zero heart that bhoy.

  12. Ruggyman

I thought Lustig was class, 3 seasons ago

I think after his injuries and operations he has lost a huge amount of mobility

No idea what the injury was with Janko, but heard he was struggling to settle in Glasgow ?

Either can go as Fisher will return

  13. Darnel Fisher, doesn’t have the pedigree of Lustig.

Side by side, I think Jancko has better physical attributes.

Fisher, funnily enough I think would be a right good signing for Aberdeen. As I know the wee scratch that is Shay Logan is away this summer.

Fisher would do well to land a club of Aberdeen.

    But for Celtic…..No

  14. COWIEBHOY on 23RD APRIL 2016 10:10 PM

I rate McGregor. I thought he did ok when he came on last week. All about opinions.

  15. The Spirit of Arthur Lee on

Keep LG , KT , ES , TR from last weeks team

The rest i would chase especially the captain

    Love

  16. Celt55

Will accept that on Allan – my view is at 25 he should already be established in the team after a full season ?

Christie I watched playing against us for past 2 seasons, and watched him dominate our midfield on several occasions, still only 20, and just joined us permanently in January, although injured through to mid Feb, may be reason we have not yet seen him give a run

He has been getting very good reviews in Development team

And a Bhoy which helps :-))

  17. Whatever happens the new manager will need to quickly assess the sqaud. If he is someone who has no connection or knowledge of us at at present he will find it hard to remove some of the deadwood before the end of August. Bearing in mind that 95% of the squad will see this as a fresh opportunity regardless of how average some of us know they are.

  18. Trust me, if a Moyes or a Keane inherit the hot seat, Scott Allan will be even further out in the cold than he is currently.

I appreciate he has forward passing ability….but he struggled at M.K Dons in England league 1.

Why ? because modern day midfielders need to bring a lot to the table. Energy, physicality, defensive awareness, so on and so on.

Allan’s level was Hibs. It’s not like he is 21/22…..he is just turned 25.. He won’t develop much further

    Re beeb and narratives.

What do you expect from our state broafcaster.?.

Old auntie has historical form on the old propoganda skills front.

Jeez as far as the cheat goes they have ‘deemed’ by investigation of themselves that the cheat is the one continious cheat and that there is no breaking in linkage in its cheating.it is the same cheating.

How very gracious of them eh.!

    I dissent their cheating narrative

    ;-)

I agree on Christie, I’m hoping he does play a part next season. I like the way Allan looks for a forward pass though which I feel we’re lacking and he’s got a good touch. Hopefully they’ll both offer more next season. I do agree about his age though. He’s no youngster.

  21. Cowiebhoy

If Christie’s proper position is centre midfield then that’s where he should be played. I’m fed up with players not being played where they operate best.

I’d still be looking to keep Rogic, I think he’s the type of player that can get you a goal out of very little.

  22. As I’ve posted,we collect players and don’t buy a guy for a specific position, the wage bill is astronomical due to gross mismanagement from Lawwell and his buddy John Park. How much money has been wasted on trying to replace Hooper? Not my fav in recent times but a guy who was a proper No 9

  23. ruggygman on 23rd April 2016 10:20 pm

Fair enough you’ve seen a lot more of Allan than I have. I did like the way he played at Hibs though. I thought he made more of an impression with them than Liam Henderson is doing this season, yet many posters think he can do a job for us.

  24. THE EXILED TIM on 23RD APRIL 2016 9:58 PM

Daily Mail saying Celtic have denied being approached by Hiddink’s representatives.

    Yes Please

    ——————-

The only name that excites and will get bums on seats from where we are now. Difficult to see it coming to fruition though.

  25. Any manager coming in, whoever he is, is already doing his homework. If he looks in here he will be baffled.

Anyway just thought I would join in.

Keep the following. Gordon, Janko, SChiavenko ( SP?) , Mulgrew, Tierney, Brown, Armstrong, GMS, Griffiths, Christie, McGregor, Roberts, CKR, Rogic, Bitton, The others can go, I do not know enough about the development squad to comment ..

Needed…..centre back with pace, another VW , Lubo and Henke. Apart from that. Nothing.

  26. theglasgowcelticway on

I’m just looking forward to tomorrow with no pressure on the team. Win and it’s Swinecastle here we come.

  27. 2 seasons ago Lusitig .Samaras, and Forster were the only guys we had who could play at CL level. IMO. I think Lustig is struggling as he is not used to playing so many games compared to last 2 years,I would definitely keep him.

    Dear Mr @@@@@@

Thanks for contacting us regarding BBC News.

We note that you feel reporting on Rangers FC’s promotion to the SPL has contained inaccuracies regarding the history of the club.

We continue to refer to Rangers FC as the same team; where we will make a distinction is between the old company and the company which currently runs the club. This is in line with the BBC Trust’s findings on the matter:

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we appreciate that you felt strongly enough to write to us again. We have noted your points and are sorry to learn you were not satisfied with our earlier response.

We are sorry to tell you that we have nothing to add to our previous reply. We do not believe your complaint has raised a significant issue of general importance that might justify further investigation. We will not therefore correspond further in response to additional points, or further comments or questions, made about this issue or our responses to it.

We realise you will be disappointed to hear this but hope this explains why we are not able to take your complaint further. If you remain dissatisfied about our decision you can appeal to the BBC Trust, the body which represents licence fee payers. The Trust has asked that we should explain to complainants that the BBC’s Royal Charter draws a clear distinction between the role of the Trust – which determines the overall scope of the BBC’s services and sets its standards – and that of the BBC Executive – which runs the Corporation and decides what to broadcast and publish.
