Celtic will play Malmo in the Champions League play-off round, the third time since 2012 they will face champions from Sweden. The main concern for Ronny Deila is the manner in which Malmo disposed of Salzburg 3-0 on Wednesday night, but there is context to put that into. In the previous round the Swedes only managed a 0-0 at home to Lithuanians Zalgiris Vilnius, before winning 0-1 away.
Those three goals against Salzburg, which arrived inside 45 minutes, will be the subject of a lot of research over the next few days.
In 2013 Celtic struggled to blow away the cobwebs against Elfsborg, recording a 1-0 home win and a 0-0 draw away. A year earlier they beat Helsingborgs 2-0 home and away.
The most encouraging aspect for Ronny will be Malmo’s domestic form. They are current 6th in the Allsvenskan after 18 games and will struggle to qualify for Europe next season. A home game against league leaders Gothenburg on Sunday will be Celtic’s most important reconnaissance exercise.
Oh, and put out the flags, Malmo play on grass!!

bgx: You coming to Dublin for Easter 2016?
Guernica
Such honesty is refreshing to read on here.
TT
Just in fae the Friday back shift fae hell. Reading back a near running commentary for a 2nd division game.
Not for me. Gonnae no! How!
Guernica
They are improved
You’re being a touch generous IMO …their defending is very suspect ..square and slow at CB…
BGX
Did you see the penalty from the Sandy Jardine Stand?!
DD
In large part I was enjoying watching young Celt McMullan …who played well ….also at 2-1 ..there’s always hope ..:-))
There is no way on earth Celtic would be allowed to display the gold star on our Jersey if we’d died and reformed.
And yet the ultra arrogant huns get away with flaunting the five fag burns In the faces of 250 cheated, swindled and stiffed creditors.

Would we sell out a home game v st mirren ?
– See more at: http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/form-vagaries-of-malmo-for-celtic/comment-page-9/#comments
A wee mixture of everything to get this gate. The main one the sheer gullibility and stupidity of “Ra Peepil”.the massive ST campaign launched by our SMSM to get the gullibillies to buy them. The “Feel good factor once again manufactured by the SMSM,telling them how wonderful the new signings are,the endless ex-huns in the papers lauding all things Warbs. We saw it all before when “The journey “started.Only that shower of cretins could fall for it over and over again.
When we played them last season, i was expecting a tight game.
I couldn’t believe how unfit they were.
Even, if all he has done is to address that, it will have been a good appointment.
My take on it is that even in the EBT era, say from 2001 to 2010, they weren’t any better than us so I’ll hardly lose sleep if we have to play their new re incarnation next season.
Sipsini..If you really believe he missed a pen to appease the home crowd…Then this convo is pointless…i feel sorry for you..
How are you Starry P??
I watched the hun game, their are a serious second tier
fitba team,if they ever wonder into the big boys
playground(the top tier) then they will get pumped.
Right I’m on the Acgr jungle juice, 60% so I might need a wee bit of water
Very nice M
BGX
Did you see the penalty?? He took 2 steps back and toe ended it 2 feet past the top right hand post. Id want him out my club if I was a buddies supporter
PFAyr
Any Celtic game at development level I have watched, Paul McMullan was motm. My nephew at Ross County rates Paul higher than GMS. His most difficult opponent.
PFAYR – I agree, they will lose goals. Must have had 20 shots tho and had close to 30 in the last game.
Bear in mind that is with 2 laddies on the wing and Law plus 3 or 4 free transfers alongside him.
It’s movement and quick passing and that takes time, as evidenced by our start to last season but they look very quick to adapt.
Be interesting to see them play a team that presses them from the front.
…Almore..No..Said before..As a YES supporter i would be embarressed to celebrate Irelands Fight for Independence , When my country, Scotland , gave her chance of the same up so shamefully …But bless to all who attend..
graffitionthewall;
I’m claiming Moss Side Avenue as my home turf!!
Anyone else see Alex Thompson’s piece in Channel 4 News re reporters being banned from grounds. Celtic got a mention and Graham Spears spoke about his ban from Sevco’s ground!
wonder=wander, sorry bhoys I’ve got stigmata in my eyes.
Ghoogybhoyceltic…Didnt know there was a jardine stand..but congrats on your knowledge o..f ibrokes
The venue for Easter 2016 rhebel session is booked, so too is the music. It will be performed by Celtic Storm. Anyone who has been to the AICSC charity dinner will be familiar with the ghuy. He’s a season ticket holder (as far as I know) and a regular at Celtic Park and Celtic functions in Ireland.
Here’s a tune (amongst many) I would like him to sing on the night. It includes strong references to a Scot who was one of the signatories to the 1916 proclamation.

and I’m pissed
Starry plough…Thankfully..
BT
You must dilute it. It melted my ice in a couple of minutes. Look forward to your whiskyd up posts later. Haha. Enjoy amigo. :)

Great description

Anyone know if there is a Celtic tartan,
sure there was at one point,
if so anywhere I could buy Celtic tartan trousers
The guy missed a penalty, big deal. One thing is beyond debate, the guy loves St Mirren. He grew up supporting them and still does, to say he missed to appease the orcs is just…… well stupid and ignorant.
Btw anyone remember Dixie miss a pen?
BGX…
I wouldn’t feel sorry for me, have you been living in lala land since Warbutton turned up…I’e the press, radio and news!
I’ll have my opinion and respect yours…I’ll leave it at that.
Guernica
Yes
It would be interesting to see them hassled …I don’t think they have the skill level to play the type of football they’re trying to play against a decent team
They’ll skoosh the league they’re in and probably be quite entertaining ….a definite improvement on last year
Great result at 5:55 no5 ……..HH
Eddieinkirkmichael
Thomson pen was shocking …not deliberate IMO
He may be a confirmed St Mirren man ..he’s also a raving Hun
Graffiti on the wall
I watched the race.
King of paradise
Overseas bhoy
It’s down to circumstances and factors as Turkeybhoy pointed out. We could be here all night comparing crowds, but one example I can give from recent times is the Oldco v Malmo game in 2011..att 28000.
Following week Celtic v Helsinki 51000.
Fact is, both clubs have massive fan bases and to be honest there’s nothing in it. Except that is, when you go worldwide.
Goggybhoy
I’m good mate, just tying down the house, there’s a storm a coming:)
Go the weans in bed and jus’ chilling’ now..
How’s tricks?
bgx: Easter 1916 did not achieve independence for Ireland. It was the outrageous reaction by the British to the Rising which inspired people to fight for independence. Partial independence was achieved in 1922. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, full independence will be achieved. Come on over, you might be inspired.
WHINHALLKEV @ 9:54,
“I’m claiming Moss Side Avenue as my home turf!!”
Kinda makes you Whinhall, that’s where my Mum was from. Few years ago mind.
BTW: You’re on good form today Tom – but don’t make it too obvious:-) You might have to hold back on the aul skelping duties! Hope the health’s improved.
