FORREST FRACTURE SETBACK

JAMES FORREST could miss SIX weeks due to an ankle fracture.

The Celtic winger limped off after only 34 minutes of the 1-0 Europa League qualifying win against FC Riga in Latvia 12 days ago.

It’s a blow for Neil Lennon who initially reckoned Forrest could be sidelined for a couple of games.

Now the flanker will be out of action until at least next month after a scan highlighted a minor stress fracture, according to a report in Glasgow Live.

Scotland international gaffer Steve Clarke had to leave the 29-year-old out of his international squad for the forthcoming crucial encounters against Israel on Thursday, Slovakia on Sunday and the Czech Republic a week tomorrow – all the ties at Hampden.

Forrest could even miss the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen – which has been held over from last season – which is due at the national stadium on Sunday, November 1.

Jeremie Frimpong has deputised for the experienced Hoops star after taking over against FC Riga and keeping the place for the wins over Hibs (3-0), Sarajevo (1-0) and St Johnstone (2-0).
