Front-loading transfers with loans

823

Mistakes in the transfer market are more costly to a club than any mistake made on a football field.  It’s too easy to spend millions on a transfer fee and commit to the kind of contract you or I will never see in our lives.  After contracts are signed you need to hope the player settles into the squad, and the city, sometimes hope he learns the language, and assume he can cope with the weather.

So how do you offset this?  In recent seasons Celtic have tried, when possible, to agree a deal in principle, but front-load the transfer with a short-term loan deal.  This gives the club six months or a year to ensure all the boxes are ticked before they commit the kind of resources which would have an impact on multiple seasons.

Miku is a case in point.  Glasgow is a long way from his native Venezuela, and as different from Madrid or Valencia, where he spent most of his adult life, as you will find in Western Europe.  He is a almost certainly a better player than we have seen since he arrived at the end of the summer transfer window, but it would be foolish to suggest he has settled well at the club.

If Miku doesn’t cut it, he will return to Spain in the summer, or sooner, and Celtic will have conserved millions.

    I like ceremonies.

I am not religious any more, but at funerals, weddings, baptisms, I find the ceremony attractive.

I would love a pagan religion like in The Wicker Man, but without the burny bit.

I know the trees huvny got souls, but I would enjoy playing at it if there was bevvy.

Greig, Ogilvie et al in their blazers (wummins knickers underneath) toasting an old tourist attraction in England?

Rascar, it probably is harmless but the loving cup ceremony is hilarious. I’ve no idea what these backward imbeciles are drinking from that bowl, I just hope it’s not a good quality malt. Given the current state of the huns its probably Dewars or W&M.

Who cares, as long as they keep providing the comedy.

They mock the catholic church and it’s ceremonies and then they give us this pagan drivel every year. Now I’m not a great fan of religion but if they want to deride the ceremonies of one church, WTF is the loving cup about?

    Huns, who would have them?

Allows us a glimpse of the opinions of others, far different from the majority on the site, and usually with good humour and elan.

Bob M, ratus norvegicius and the summer of 78 was a great time to be alive, I’m not sure if it was a good time to be a tim but I knew I was living in those days of mushrooms, and excessive access to free drugs and poontnag.

I slipped in my support for my team in that era and am now paying my personal price by making up the support I should have provided then.

    ok so no miki 67

Nope Philvus politically is not acceptable as a Celtic supporter IMHO. His only excuse would be that he is a fascist Tory loving schizophrenic . Of course he may be normal and has formed his opinions living on a council estate when neds have stolen his colour TV that he was first in the neighbourhood to have or his Atari or his etc etc.

    Happens to lots of nobodies.

ok on the philvus note let me say one thing in his defence. Margaret Thatcher wasnt completely AWOL. awe grooan groan groan I can hear you.The one redeeming characteristic of Maggie is that she did not belive in a written constitution but in a true democracy (TV and all). To which I concur living in America.

    Why? I hear you ask.

    Well here’s why.

    Who interprets the written constitution?

In the American analogy its the Supreme Court.

    Whats supreme about them?

    Er nothing really.

They are not elected but selected.

The selection is usually politically motivated.

So usually you have a bunch of nobodies (see above) trying to be all intellectual an stuff ken aboot 18th century wisdom ken.

when in actual fact they are TV loving whores (see previous posting).

Resulting in, for example, the Al Gore/Florida debacle in 2000 when they stated that

a recount in a general election was unconstitutional. So if Maggie Thatcher had had her way in America in 2000 Al gore would have been president instead of that murdering Bush thicko who never read a book in his life that Blair followed.

    Just saying likesy.

    Ken
