Front-loading transfers with loans

823

Mistakes in the transfer market are more costly to a club than any mistake made on a football field.  It’s too easy to spend millions on a transfer fee and commit to the kind of contract you or I will never see in our lives.  After contracts are signed you need to hope the player settles into the squad, and the city, sometimes hope he learns the language, and assume he can cope with the weather.

So how do you offset this?  In recent seasons Celtic have tried, when possible, to agree a deal in principle, but front-load the transfer with a short-term loan deal.  This gives the club six months or a year to ensure all the boxes are ticked before they commit the kind of resources which would have an impact on multiple seasons.

Miku is a case in point.  Glasgow is a long way from his native Venezuela, and as different from Madrid or Valencia, where he spent most of his adult life, as you will find in Western Europe.  He is a almost certainly a better player than we have seen since he arrived at the end of the summer transfer window, but it would be foolish to suggest he has settled well at the club.

If Miku doesn’t cut it, he will return to Spain in the summer, or sooner, and Celtic will have conserved millions.

    Awe_Naw..,

Share prices going up makes me wonder who is selling,

Corporate sale? How many shares were sold ? Cashing in ? What value of shares have been traded ?

Me, I think a couple of shareholders might be releasing shares on the back of the hun2 peak price to increase their own portfolio value.

Now, the hun2 current value has sting written all over it, if the form book is anything to go by and the crash happens will Green be left holding the shares he’s supposedly locked into for 18 months ?

Makes you wonder if his shares are sacrificial ?

Strikers more than most other positions require careful handling.. Only goalkeepers come close to being as High maintenance..

Hoper is openly adored and fawned over by Lenny. It all part of the ‘management’. Tony Watt looks at this and thinks that’s me in 5 years time.

Miku looks on and thinks that should be me. I’m the same age as Hooper

    – I’m 2nd/ 3rd/4th ( if your not first you are nowhere)… He maybe even thinks younger guys are getting a head of him.

Only 3?things can change it for Miku..

    1.Hooper goes

    2. He goes himself

    3. He fights harder.

    My bet is No 2.

This sevco outfit must surely be a different team from the huns we used to abhor.

Today they clapped their opposition off the park. My memory of this disgusting exuse for a football team tells me they used to kick their opposition off the park.

Somefins changed, thankfully it’s not their fat useless manager.

The useless apprentice manager should consider himself lucky to have drunk chuckies baby gravy from the loving cup, that secures his position for the next few months.

HAIL HAIL Fat Ali and part time Elgin joiners.

  7. The first word that came to mind today when a player got sent off (oppositional, of course) in MoneyLaundering F.C.’s game was :’obligatory’.

Scum then, scum now, scum until they are properly gotten rid of.

So does anyone think the Celtic bored will strengthen for the Champions league in the transfer window?

    Just askin like.

Let me illustrate some topical events here in the USA and in Japan which explain the

principal of the power of money and TV. Something dear to the Celtic bored i.e.TV and money. ..and money.

Although I heard a rumour that Celtic FC were in fact a charitable organeyesednation.

    Anyway

    1. I showed up at work Thursday and saw an HR email. Despite the thousands of emails to our companies HR department panicking about the hike in taxes to “America” in the “Fiscal Cliff” deadline as explained in “off the scale” anti Obama rhetoric on the TV. Turns out that only those people earning more than $450k /year would see an increase in 3% of

their federal taxes which in the company “I” worked for covered..err no one.

….Ah the power of corporate TV.

    2. Oh the outrage and indignation of a rape case in India and Ohio where one woman was

raped to death and another under age Ohio High school teenager. rape rape rape what a bad country India is..whats wrong with India? whats wrong with the High School football programs in Ohio? Still its a lot worse than spattering 25 5 year olds skulls over a classroom wall in Connecticut with an assault rifle which was quickly forgotten about TV wise in America (as well as the 2 NY fireman shot and killed on an emergency call lately) unless the ire of the gun nut aficionados who support the same party as the corporations get pissed off.

….Ah the power of corporate TV.

    3. A bluefin Tuna was sold In Japan today for $1.7million ~ 1 million pounds. Now there’s a species on the road to extinction. I wonder if its DNA holds cures for humanity in any way? ah well

  15. What’s with the loving cup banter?

I didn’t know what it was, so googled it.

    Seems a nice wee tradition.

Even saw Agent White and a few grand wizards using it to get bevvied on YouTube.

  16. Serious Question, If the league is changed next year is anyone considering not renewing their season books?

League Reconstruction is only being pushed through to help sevco, they will be slipped into SPL2 imo.

If it happens i’m out, I would be quite happy to go another year without seeing them, 2 seasons hun free is probably the best we can expect.

Would be good to put up a poll to see what the general consensus is.
