Going one better next season

943

We had a special night at the Celtic Supporters’ Association’s 67th Annual Rally last night.  It was great to see our two treble winning captains: Tom Boyd giving praise to the giant of the European game, Billy McNeill.

I had a chat with Scott Brown, who received his Association Player of the Year award.  A day before he collects his fourth consecutive league championship trophy you’d think he would afford a moment of satisfaction, but he’s not happy this isn’t a treble winning season.  The events at Hampden last month have left an open wound.  All he could talk about was going one better next season.

Before you leave for the game tomorrow remember to bring along some change to buy a Ronny Roar badge to raise funds for the work of your Foundation.  See you there.

Gordon 64, Tube station is tremendous.

When you’re young, Saturdays Kids, Boy About Town, Tube Station, Pretty Green, Dream Time are my favourites.

A pal and I were in London for a gig at the Hammersmith Odeon years ago.

On our way back to Islington to way we were staying, there was a fight on the platform we were on Euston Undertground station at midnight. It was a a strange feeling seeingtwo guys brawling at the edge of the platform. Fortunately, it was over quite quick when two British Transport polis broke the fight up.

I am a “kept in man” but that’s more of the 6 yr olds doing, I have actually heard her mum saying “just let Dad go out” I sort of take it as a compliment the wee yin rules the roost, I was meant to be in ma kip but even though we have won the league I am a wee 44yr old who canny wait for the league flag tomorrow, it never leaves you

Cheers for the FourGreenFields earlier everybody

  5. Dublin is officially now the gayest city in Europe. I would suggest ‘up the dubs’ is no longer pc. Well done Ireland.

    Roy Croppie at 23.59.

A friend of mine was a reserve game against the deid club. Alan Thompson was still with us at the time.

Some sticky bun had followed through on one of our players, a melee started and Thommo being Thommo was right in the thick of it. My pal said Darren pulled Thompson back, my pal thought Darren was trying to calm the situation. Darren didn’t. He went straight to the sticky who caused the melee and grabbed a hold of him, presumably informing the bun about the error of his ways.

Elbows McCulloch and his type of player is one of the reasons our game is in the mess it is in.

When Spain beat Scotland 3 2 at Hampden a few years ago, Elbows, for whatever reason, was in the starting eleven.

He hardly touched the ball with Xavi and Iniesta letting him know how football should be played. He was subbed at half time.

Just seen the news from Ireland. Well done the people of Ireland for breaking down another unbreakable wall.

This clears the way for myself and long time secret lover Henrik Larsson to get married in county Cork.

Pour me a pinacolada. Am pyoor made up.

  8. jg,

It’s great running onto downpressor man but for bubblegum and melody the Prince Buster song has to be the inspiration for a high percentage of reggae that followed it.

  9. Have just spent the worst 2 hrs of my life. Went to see (was taken) the latest Mad Max film. Excruciating is putting it mildly.

Gerryfaethebrig, good post. Daughters can rule the roost and get the better of their ever loving dad.

I’m like you, I can’t wait for tomorrow.

I’ve told my son we are going early, to sign the FAC petition, get the last of this season’s Not The View then get into the stadium to take in the lovely sight of Celtic Park filling up to see our team.

Since Celtic Park was rebuilt, no songs about our players being welcomed onto the pitch for their warm up. This was always done when the Jungle was still there.

Even Jim Melrose was applauded and sung about onto the pitch before the game started.

It would be good if a song for each player was sung as they came on the pitch for their warm up.

‘I wouldn’t disagree with you’ – the rarest phrase on CQN!

Here’s some toots and the Maytals. I used to sing this to me wee ones almost like a lullaby and almost cry inside cos I loved them so much.

The Board ran a competition in the View to design a club flag and the winner was based on the stars and stripes with the club badge in the square…we stuck to tricolours HH

Canamlar, I’m sure we used to fly a flag similar to the stars and stripes but with a Celtic crest instead of the stars and it obviously beinggreen and white.
