Graft and guile need to make a comeback

129

They shipped three to Dundee and five to Kilmarnock recently but Partick Thistle held it together enough to beat Motherwell last week. They are a team fighting for their livelihoods and bear a grudge over a penalty kick decision when we met earlier this season.

Thistle play the role of whipping boys in many eyes tonight but no game is won before kick-off. Celtic need a response after Sunday’s defeat, which will only come through graft and guile. Patience may be required tonight.

Just as importantly, Brendan Rodgers needs to look at selection. He has three games in the next six days, the middle of which is against nearest challengers, Aberdeen. Freshness is needed for each occasion.

    Hello lads,

I know it isn’t Friday night (so, it isn’t really music night), but F it, (i) I’m sick of talking about a board that has sold us down the river, and (ii) this song is just too good not to share …

Since the early 70’s, Peter Perrett (formerly of the Only Ones, and who sounds like Lou Reed crossed with Robin Hitchcock) seems to resurface every 10 years or so to release some music … and the new stuff is brilliant … How the West Was Won is my pick for 2017 song of the year … enjoy!

No problem, I agree with you , the media have played their part in keeping these issues under wraps, Celtic never seem to be that interested and do not use their media output if they feel/think otherwise, like you I think they want it to be forgotten about beat them on the park which I completely disagree with, I have been cheated as a season ticket holder during their illegal tax schemes and as a shareholder the value of my shares effected.

    ……………………..

Yes I too believe our custodians think we have a huge financial advantage on the Huns and that we have their number.

This advantage will end when we no longer are privy to the Champins League monies as we are signing more expensive players and paying them more wages and incentives over no doubt longer contracts.

We have to be so much better than them to be successful as mibbery will always play a part. Nothing is a given as we are seeing at present. Our players are playing more games with little recovery time and injuries are taking their toll. Complacency also comes in to the equation to some degree too imo.

It’s not enough for me to conveniently forget the corruption and the cheating as it’s to our financial advantage to do so. What price do you put on integrity.

And yes…….Who remembers the words “Never again” and “Without fear or favour?” I do!

*he’s a bit of a mystery, we were prepared to let him go to Torino, a fee was agreed and then he had a medical, next we hear is that there was problems with the medical and they now wanted him on loan tae see how he pans out.

Now it seems he passed the medical or so we are led tae believe and the loan terms were unacceptable.

Time tae let him go methinks.

  12. Iamatim

You may be right about supporters of other clubs, but how aware are they that they are now in the front line as victims of TRFC defecit reduction policy?

We know what that feels like over years , they are new to it and by drawing attention to it on SFM, it might hasten their understanding and it is when supporters call the shots by threatening ST delay that their Directors listen.

However there is nothing wrong with having 2 strings to our bow and I’m a bit non plussed that the JR feasibility as far as I know never considered the fraud angle from a small shareholders or even individual’s perspective.

Indeed Canalamar always argued that the Serious Fraud Office should be involved, but until autumn last year, when it became clearer what UEFA considered to be an overdue payable, that the idea of fraud in March 2011 was thought provable. It always looked sniffy but a ruling in the Giannina case changed our understanding

That more than changed publicly when it was admitted during CW trial that liability was accepted before 31st March with no strings, which differed from what RFC told SFA and what SFA passed on to UEFA and later justified in Sep 2011 to UEFA.

Crowd funding should have an aim and like the JR the first step should be to find out if a case of fraud exist.

The Res12 lawyer is well briefed on the background but to get his then a QC opinion will cost. BRTH territory.

So if there is an appetite to go the criminal fraud route I would suggest some crowd funding to pay for a legal opinion on the fraud angle and then just how such a case could be taken to court and by whom and against whom. Start with Grant Thornton then RFC Directors especially if still there then the SFA for negligence at best.

If going that way I would try and get the CSA on board to cover non shareholders and CST to cover shareholders. Approaching as a recognised representative group would have a greater chance of being heard.

I hope it does not have to come to this because the evidence suggests fraud has taken place and if Comp Off tries to cover it up then he is part of it.

He will be very much aware of that and if he does the right thing he can always get another job.

If he aids a cover up then he is taking a big risk with his future.

When it becomes in a person’s self interest to do the right thing, they usually do.

I think you are absolutely mad to think that’s a good idea.

  14. Would love us to win 7-0 tonight, same as I would like us to win every game by that score. However I will happily settle for 1-0 or 2-1. The news that we have signed Marvin Compper is to be welcomed as it suggests that the board are backing our manager. Listening to the guy talk, he certainly seems to be what we are looking for, quick, intelligent, a good organiser and experienced. Hopefully the likes of Ralston, Ajer, Tierney and Miller will all benefit from his presence at the club. If Jozo and Boyata don’t fancy staying then punt them and spend the money on guys who want to be here!

I really hope that we bring in someone capable of giving Scott Brown a hand in tough games especially in Europe. Armstrong and McGregor are fine for the most part in Scotland but far too easily brushed aside against better quality opposition in Europe!

Not able to attend tonight but looking forward to saluting this team’s great achievement on Saturday against the Sheep!

67 th minute salute the Lions, 69 th minute salute the Invincibles!

  18. Only empty seats bring about change.

30,000 empty seats, booted the PLC’s erse into gear, to recruit a manager, with the requisite status, to hold the office of, the manager who’ll serve the Celtic supporters.

But, Brendan came to the club with, hidden costs.

The euphoria that greeted Brendan’s appointment, served as an open goal for the sleekit PLC board, to slip in a *fudge* for them to swerve the Sevco / Ranjurs same club issue.

With season tickets at Celtic Park sold out, the PLC were able to, without threat of fan pressure, the PLC sleekitly agreed that, the £49 Old Firm ticket would remain in place for Celtic’s games against the *apparently* new club, Sevco.

Now, I might be wrong here, but, I’m sure that I’m right, that, Celtic supporters crowd funded *statement’s* that were printed in a hun news paper, that is read by, two guys and a dug, that the *statement’s* provided evidence to prove that, Sevco and Rainjurs were two different clubs, and yet, Celtic PLC agreed that, Celtic supporters should pay £49 for tickets to see Celtic FC v Sevco, the exact same price as tickets for, Celtic FC v Rangers FC, and the worst bit, when Celtic supporters purchased these £49 tickets, they rubber stamped the lie , that Sevco and Rainjurrs FC are the same club.

Ah wid say that, the PLC set a trap for Celtic supporters, by appointing Brendan, and using his appointment to fudge the PLC’s way out of addressing the same club issue.

Thing is, to fudge the same club issue, did the PLC use an, unsuspecting Brendan, or, was Brendan a willing fudge ?

Ye can never be paranoid enough when dealing with the sleekit Celtic PLC.

But, be in no doubt, the only language that the Celtic PLC, Stuart Milne, Reagan, Petrie, Budge etc, will understand……..is thousands of empty seats.

The PLC have wrong footed the Celtic support over the same club issue, they did this by using Brendan as a fudge, whether he was an, innocent or a willing fudge, is for another day.

The PLC were able to wrong foot the Celtic support, because, the support isny, cute, or paranoid enough. That is a concern.

There is no point in the “Internet Bampots” providing mountains of evidence, only for the PLC to pull the Celtic supports pants down, cause, make no mistake, that is what the PLC did.

    Anywye,…..guid luck, HH

    ……..oot.

  20. Croppybhoy

Not that it was a mistake, but it looks like a lesson was learned from the deal that fell through for the South African lad Coetzee.

Id say Brendan has identified who he wants signed, seeled and ready to get on that plane to Dubai and has given himself a bit of room for manoeuvre this time to perhaps go for another option IF complications with the deal or Commper’s medical arose.

Jozo has had his injury issues. It’s a bit early to write him off.

He’s only a doubt for tonight’s game. This isn’t a long term injury. I’d start with Ajer to give him experience anyway. We have a lot of games in a short amount of time and Thistle at home shouldn’t be too hard for Ajer.

He opted to play for Bosnia & Hertzegovina because of the lack of opportunities he’s had in the Croatia set up. His whole family hails for B & H so I don’t think it’s too alien for him to switch.

Bear in mind he made the switch late in the qualifying process. He will get his chance in the next qualifiers.

  22. 69 game unbeaten run. Lose 1 game and there is talks of boycotts again. You couldn’t write it.

    Utter madness.

  23. Wee Jamsie was prone to seldom being fit.

Different problems to what Simo has but was he at his worst around the same age as Simo is now?

Perhaps the big man will get through his own particular phase?

He has suffered a bad knee injury, got done by a targeted assault on an already injured ankle and has had a hamstring tear.

Some bad luck in there I’d say and often when players are returning after injury, they can be a little soft and susceptible to other injuries.

He did manage 30 odd games last year and without the hamstring issue this year he would probably be well on the way to surpassing that.

Maybe with a little more time he can put these issues behind him?

I’d say he is worth giving the chance to……solely on merit for his tackle on ole Kenny :)
