Guidetti and Scepovic complete Celtic line-up

999

Things looked touch and go earlier today but Celtic pulled a late double swoop to sign John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City, and Stefan Scepovic on a four year deal from Sporting Gijon.  Guidetti has been a Celtic transfer rumour since his 20 goals in 23 games stint at Feyenoord as a teenager in 2011-12.  Now he’s on board, I’m holding out for news of Georgi Kinkladze.

Stefan Scepovic could have played his hand better over the last 24 hours; footballers are seldom accused of over-intellectualising their plans.  Late interest from La Liga looked to have dealt Celtic a body-blow, but he’s ours now, and I’m pleased we got someone who was wanted by Spanish scouts.

That’s us finished for the summer window.  Welcome to Celtic, John, Stefan.

You’re spouting the guidi Jackson bfdj Jim traynor leckie lines for them.

That’s more happy clapping than supporting our club my opinion. Think for yourself.

    You can’t see it

If the deal fell through because we had reached our quota of four loan signings then someones coat is pn a shoogly peg.

Meanwhile look out for some happy fans of the tribute act at your place of work today. They offloaded half a dozen players freeing up enough money to ensure the top team get fed at murray park today

Time for JC to unmask and stop being a subservient assistant.

Then again, maybe JC has tried to ‘enlighten’ RD as to, how the land lies

in these parts and has found that RD’s head is too far up his own erchie and,

has decided to give him enough rope?

That depends. I believe positivity is much more constructive than negativity. Besides, in a world where the turkeys continually vote for Christmas, I am often one of the minority.

  5. I see the spoiled children are out in force this morning. Blaming the board without an shred of evidence. The Evening Times is reporting that the paperwork problem was at the Manchester City end, but that is conveniently ignored because it doesn’t suit the agenda.

Will come back when the adults are up.

Correct ……..we did. Really well this window……all we need now is to build a consistent performance from the ‘new’ team, backed by the support….!!!!!!!!!! HH

  7. Morning All,

Disappointed the Guidetti deal didn’t go through, for 2 reasons – he’s a goal machine that hasn’t had his chance to shine in England and on the 1st July next year he’s a free agent. I always feel if you get a year at Celtic and are given the chance to shine then Celtic will be in your blood. He could’ve been a great ‘Bosman’ – I am sure Henrik was contacted by both the club and the player and that’s why he rushed up the M6.

Is there still a faint chance – who knows.

Scepovic – he was our No.1 target – we got him, I’m delighted.

Also, VVD staying is a huge bonus, a Dutch International is worth a lot more in January.

As I see it,the board have tried to dig themselves out of a hole, one of their own making.

Deals should have been lined up and completed six weeks ago at least.

I don’t know who ultimately cocked up over Guidetti, and it is unfair to hammer them based on anything other than facts.

But the facts are that they ARE to blame for taking it to the last day.

I sincerely hope that we are better prepared next season. But I recall saying that a year ago.

  9. KevJ “Who knows?”

You certainly don`t but it doesn`t stop you commenting as though you do.

  10. Raith Rovers, Morton, Cowdenbeath Clyde, Airdrie, Stenhousemuir and Stranraer have all clubbed together to help Hunco by taking their rejects on loan. …..That should keep Ibrokes going for another week or so..

If ye gave me the choice right now of the ‘impoverished’ Izzy since his injury or, Lee Wallace as LB for Celtic then it’s taxi for Izzy time. imho

I can only say what ‘I’ think which, I might add…isny designed to curry favor with any of the assortment of cliques that ye find on here.

  12. I thought I’d login this morning to find a few angry guys apologising for the abuse dished out over vvds ommission on Sunday.

    Just more angry guys.

    Sad.

  13. Good morning? I am not sure, little point us berating anyone for being tardy or lax with paperwork. We had 12 months to sort a centre forward out and thanks to paper work errors we got 2 bites at the CL.

I also hear on the grapevine that Mike Ashley will underwrite the Orcs share issue at the last minute with stadium naming rights for Chateau d’Espair the prize. Cue MSM frenzy of off the radar and we are back stories.

  14. “But the facts are that they ARE to blame for taking it to the last day.”

    That is NOT a fact.

We seem to have taken a lot of risks with this transfer window.

Whilst it is good that some of the younger players are going out in loan for experience and should come back the better, and older ones are out of the training area hopefully for them to take their career wherever it should take them.

Goalkeeper, we have a major gamble on the fitness of Craig Gordon because Zaluska is not the answer.

We all know the chances will be that Scepovic will get the same treatment as many newcomers to our league and will most likely be out for a period. Whatever this team is crying out for goalscorers.

    HH

Whilst happy to get a striker in I was more excited about the Guiditi deal which would have been the difference in Europe too. If the deal can be got through then move every sinew to achieve it.

  16. Kev

Who knows? Not you kev, so why would you pay that drivel.

You say you think, I say don’t read a paper or listen to a phone in for a month and try thinking for yourself. It’s liberating

  17. mullet and co 2 on

Europa league registration is today so Guideti would need to be registered now in order for that to go ahead.

He’s in the last year of his contract but reports suggest Man City wanted 2.5m for him. I can’t see them paying up the remainder of his contract and letting him go for free.

  18. KevJ

Correct. Well, apart from the fact that I go to the games and don`t express opinions as though they were facts.

    Couldn’t agree more.

So much negativity on CQN these days – despite the signing of a player that will fill the gap we could all see was urgently required.

Let’s wait for today’s press conference to understand why we missed out on the other one.

  20. Sipsini

Why did we `leave it until the last day` ? My guess is that you don`t know but will be critical anyway.

Sadly though I don’t expect any lessons have been learned.

We will win the SPFL… Hopefully we will be prepared for CL next year.

I suspect that will be with a new coach in place.

Who knows we may win the treble. In reality that should be a given.

  22. Bobby Evans Superstar,

Thanks for that. You can take over as Lawyer for the Defence now as I have a few things to do. Best of luck!!!

  24. Morning all. Drab down here at the moment. Forecast is for a distinct improvement.

Haven’t read back but is it too much to hope that there will be a distinct improvement on CQN anytime soon?

  25. mullet and co 2 on

You leave it to the last minute in order to get the players as cheap as possible.

Meanwhile we have lost out on how much income?

If you think Scepovic is good enough to sign him and Guidetti to try to sign him the by extension you think they are good enough to get you through the champions league qualifiers.

What would it have cost to get one here 8 weeks ago?
