Things looked touch and go earlier today but Celtic pulled a late double swoop to sign John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City, and Stefan Scepovic on a four year deal from Sporting Gijon. Guidetti has been a Celtic transfer rumour since his 20 goals in 23 games stint at Feyenoord as a teenager in 2011-12. Now he’s on board, I’m holding out for news of Georgi Kinkladze.
Stefan Scepovic could have played his hand better over the last 24 hours; footballers are seldom accused of over-intellectualising their plans. Late interest from La Liga looked to have dealt Celtic a body-blow, but he’s ours now, and I’m pleased we got someone who was wanted by Spanish scouts.

Cancelled Sky Sports after last season.
Guy I know on Facebook last night who is a Hearts and Liverpool fan moaning about the obscene money being paid to Falcao.
This guy is a mouthpiece on Facebook but actually a decent punter.
I said to him if you are that disgusted cancel Sky Sports and stop watching the EPL. No response.
It is getting ridiculous down south. Man Utd are paying 4 players around £1m a week.
I hope the whole thing comes crashing down on them some time soon.

The standard of football opinion on her in particular those who are using Izaguirre as a scapegoat is shocking, we don’t need another left back, i hope we never see stefan Johanson at left back again what a howler of a decision that was, we do have defensive frailties at the moment, however that is mainly directly down to poor team selection, tactics and morale, our new management team need to up their game considerably because at the moment i fear despite all of our advantages if we meet Sevco in a cup tie super sally will win the management battle

Jury is out on that. We have a lot of unknowns. Not sure how fit most of the players are. Certainly not match fit. I will reserve judgement until I see the players play a few games. I bought the hype of Pukki and Boerritger and they were poor. I would have held onto Pukki if we don;t get Guidetti. I can;t believe our new man managers and football geniuses couldn;t motivate the Bhoy. He is a player. No doubt. If we had got Guidetti and indeed if it goes through today I will be less worried about Pukki if he is the real deal.
We have a lot of new players and the international break should allow them time to settle in and get up to speed.
Hopefully the players left behind will be doing some training and getting to know their team mates. Hope our captain also organises some kind of team bonding session. Even if they go for a a game of golf and then a few pints I think it is badly needed.
Things may look better on paper but I remain unconvinced. Once they are on the pitch I will make judgement.

Our CEO is on the board of the SFA so we should get the actual details – surely?. Let’s not depend on SMSM speculation or blog knee jerk reactions.

People at work discussing the reaction of folk outside empty training grounds last night, all caught on SSN.
The banner from the Crystal Palace fans would have hit a raw nerve, and is also a sign that many English football fans have had enough of the self-indulgence that is now part of the transfer window.

Classic story, most of the people moaning are helping fund it! Though as the salaires and fees reach absurd levels I do think the penny is beginning to drop not only in Scotland but in parts of England too.
It has to come crashing down at some stage, the TV deal may have gone up but the transfer fees and especially wages are increasing at a far higher rate.
The potential of Scottish football is there because of the number of clubs we have who boast large supports. Collectively we are strong but fans across the country need to come together on this if we are to see a change.
At the very least we should be giving our money to our own national game. The two cup finals last season showed the potential that exists in Scotland and as we mentioned yesterday Hearts sold out for their match at the weekend. Things like that prove there is hope for the future.

Reality is we are all guessing re Guidetti. We don’t know what held up the registration or who was to blame, if somebody somewhere was negligent. Am a little annoyed by the code of Omerta on the Official site. I can understand re Guidetti if its still an ongoing situation but everyone has a rake of our players, I have heard Pukki, Balde, The Fridge, Atajic, Irvine all mentioned as having gone on loan but nothing at all on Official site. If the loan stories are all true then I welcome them, I also welcome Sevco Panicfest. I’d love us to get Guidetti and am still hoping.
Why does the signing or should I say non-signing of Guidetti not surprise me. There is never anything straightforward at Celtic. I will wait for the facts before I pass judgement on who is to blame. Still I suppose I should be grateful for small mercies, big Virgil and Kris are still with us and we signed a striker. We will see how things go in the coming weeks, what else can we do.

Izzy is a great player who must be tired. He has carried the position for club and country for years without rest . At Celtic he often covering the entire wing on his own.

I expect a press conference to unveil Scep this afternoon, during which we’ll get an update on Guidetti. I don’t expect it to happen now. It’s a shame, I was content with just getting the one but quite liked the idea of getting both.
Today is also deadline to register our squad for Europa League so any signings need to be confirmed today, including any free agent deals.

We are now out of the C/L, we will be playing good quality in the E/L, Izzy has played at the highest international level he has 70 caps for his country, he also competed in the group stages in the biggest club tournament in the world now, according to some armchair experts he is not fit for the SPFL, if Izzy is played within a well organised defensive unit and afforded the proper level of support from midfield he would be automatic first choice at L/B for all our games in the E/L and at SPFL, if through injury we have to play another player there i would suggest Mulgrew or Matthews both these players have the experience to do a job if required, not a midfield runner who charges in

I went to bed raging last night for I stayed up and saw the Guidetti news unfolding before my eyes. Couldn’t get the paperwork submitted on time? We saw the lad going in the door mid – evening for God sake! I just couldn’t believe it and was calling the board for everything. How could the best run club in the world get this so wrong? I was calling the SFA for everything too. Cadete / Guidetti! Is this De ja vue? My thoughts and theories were all over the place.
I’ve woken up and I’m still angry but a little more rational. The facts are, we don’t know the facts. We all have our thoughts, our theories and our suspicions but we don’t have the facts.
We are the best fans in the world. We must wait for the facts. But… we must get the facts.

Just a really honest assessment from last years window and from what I have seen so far from Celtic. I think Ronny will benefit from the rest the next 10 days or so more than anyone. The guy has had a rough time in his personal life. No doubt missing his kids and hasn;t got a few things right. He needs to work on a few things, get some rest and get home for a few days.
Hopefully a new improved Celtic when the action starts again.
