Things looked touch and go earlier today but Celtic pulled a late double swoop to sign John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City, and Stefan Scepovic on a four year deal from Sporting Gijon. Guidetti has been a Celtic transfer rumour since his 20 goals in 23 games stint at Feyenoord as a teenager in 2011-12. Now he’s on board, I’m holding out for news of Georgi Kinkladze.
Stefan Scepovic could have played his hand better over the last 24 hours; footballers are seldom accused of over-intellectualising their plans. Late interest from La Liga looked to have dealt Celtic a body-blow, but he’s ours now, and I’m pleased we got someone who was wanted by Spanish scouts.
That’s us finished for the summer window. Welcome to Celtic, John, Stefan.

‘Fined for Palestinian flag flying.
Uefa explain that because of the conflict, that flag is considered to be political.’

I wonder if the same rule applies to the Tricolour.
Denny Johnstone went out of contract but we are owed money for training him. This almost stopped Birmingham going for him. I think we got 300k in the end.

I’d love you to spill the beans re Celtic’s co-operation.
I reckon a few of us would,tbh.
I hope the Guidetti thing is just an admin problem which can be sorted out quickly.
It’s what happens when things are left to the last minute though.
Mate, if I was picked for Celtic my work rate would kill me.
Celtic’s standards have dropped to a level where a grafter is loved…….in the same way a lot said Peter Grant was a must pick too.
SB…is not Paul McStay, thats for sure.
But he has dig in the midfield.
And will always give 100%.
SB is a gallus wee Celtic machine…that will do for me.

£150 face value? Are you Peter Lawwell?!
I knew one Israeli who had a season ticket for Celtic Park and he coached a wee bit at some stage of the Celtic youth levels
I would be surprised if any Palestinians had been the holder of a season ticket but as I have been on numerous times in the past I may be wrong
Hope Celtic can negotiate the release of Guidetti from Man city if UEFA dont allow appeal,
Watching that Scepovic Youtube video (I know, I know!), he appears to have speed of thought which is something our recent strikers seem to lack.
Pukki, for example, used to get some great chances but was always that split second too late in deciding what to do.

Can we ask Uefa to just take it off the prize money for reaching the playoff round of the CL?

His goal at 1 min in the clip can not be taught that is just nutural scorer instincs(IMHO)

Nah but you will be entitled to a free cauld pie and a free programme if you take up the offer
There again you will need to be in early to beat the day trippers who tend to demolish about ten pies and have enough pockets to stuff twenty programmes in
I don’t want to get into a political arguement and I do not think teams should be punished if some of their supporters wave a Palestinian flag. But why wave it in the first, we have no Palestinians playing for us, I would doubt the waver were Palestinians, so the only reason must be political, showing support for one nation over another.
£300k for Denny Johnstone?
Well that should cover 30% of PL’s salary – including bonus!
HH!!
My friends in Celtic,
The flying of flags is always going to be a contentious subject.
I have no point to make other than it can be divisive and controversial. e.g. I have seen the flag of the 2nd Spanish republic at Parkhead.
I have no issue with this although I can understand that it may upset some RC’s who attend our ground.
To reiterate what I have stated before, better sticking to Celtic flags. For political messages, stick to George Sq.
HH.

I think they key word there is doubt.

I know the transfer is shut now.
But I think I might throw a brick through it, and reach in, and haul guidetti through it.
Come on the UFH….weave your magic:)

Seriously without googling Guidetti what makes you and others so keen to have him
Personally I had never heard of the dude until his name came up last night and when I googled same I didn’t see too much to get overly excited about

Yes, that was a cracker. You are right, some guys just seem to have a natural instinct for it.
Its patently nonsense to penalise flag flying of any country and illegal. Celtic should tell yoofa to get stuffed.
I noticed his badge kissing in the video. He then goes and refuses to train with the rest of his team mates in an effort to get a transfer. He then turns his back on an agreement with Celtic. He then comes crawling back when he doesn’t get the cash he wants.
I hope he scores a bucket load for us and then goes forth and multiplies.
mickbhoy1888 11:02 on 2 September, 2014
They did Celtic a real favour by making them play that game.
The current Celtic team performing in the CL is just too scary to think about.

Ten pies aye AND a free programme, tourists these days do it in style eh. I hope its nowhere near those bad bhoys in the green brigade

Aye I totally agree with you and let’s cause them maximum suffering by withdrawing from any future UEFA administered tournament that we may qualify for

Before penning an answer what exactly does get you overly excited ?
Your contributions have me struggling to see anything :)

Maybe I missed it but, did Scott Brown apologize to the fans for blowing last seasons CL campaign with his hunlike cheap set-to with Neymar?

John holding someone ( even the board ) as guilty until they prove otherwise means applying the same dogma as the board did to the fans you seek to protect!
Sorry, but two wrongs don’t make a right and until the facts are known and established we should not rush to judge anyone nor throw the balance of of proof on to anyone who would otherwise be deemed innocent until proven guilty.
If the board want to make mistaken and ill judged sweeping generalisations that is up to them, but I for one will not swoop to that level for administrative convenience or the pursuit or creation of a good story.
By the way, if anyone thinks that in the main people remain innocent until proven guilty under the law of the land they had better think again because more and more the burden of proof is switched so that you are presumed guilty from the outset rather than the other way about.
That might not seem all that important but trust me it is absolutely vital as one day it will come back to bite many innocent people.
Celtic have to submit their playing squad for the Europa League group stage by midnight (CET) on Tuesday September 2.
– We have day of shenanigans coming up then ?

I don’t think fans flying the Palestinian flag at Celtic matches is particularly contentious, but I don’t see the point in it either.

People telling us to wait for the fact before making a judgement on the board, it would be nice if they extended the same courtesy to accused supporters, so give me peace.
I extend the same rules they do, the board screwed up and the onus is on them to prove they never

My seat was seven sections to the right of the group of fans that were formerly known as the green brigade. For the life of me I haven’t a clue to where they have disappeared too ,maybe they have reverted to being Celtic Supporters

Uefa have taken a pro-Israeli stance .
How that middle east state is even in Uefa I dont know.

Because the Asian football authorities will not let them in!

Good luck proving it, don’t put too much of your hard earned on:)
