Guidetti and Scepovic complete Celtic line-up

999

Things looked touch and go earlier today but Celtic pulled a late double swoop to sign John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City, and Stefan Scepovic on a four year deal from Sporting Gijon.  Guidetti has been a Celtic transfer rumour since his 20 goals in 23 games stint at Feyenoord as a teenager in 2011-12.  Now he’s on board, I’m holding out for news of Georgi Kinkladze.

Stefan Scepovic could have played his hand better over the last 24 hours; footballers are seldom accused of over-intellectualising their plans.  Late interest from La Liga looked to have dealt Celtic a body-blow, but he’s ours now, and I’m pleased we got someone who was wanted by Spanish scouts.

That’s us finished for the summer window.  Welcome to Celtic, John, Stefan.

  1. There should be no poltics at football matches, i go and watch football.simple as that, we bum we are a club open to everyone, why then is political flags being waved on matchdays, no we should be more concerend about our club.were we are going,as i have said before ,to many left wingers in our crowd

  2. “He is in a team that are a shadow of the one he joined – does he moan and agitate to leave?”

    Cultsbhoy,

Did izzy not join us just days after our double euro humbling? We sure weren’t in a good place so far as Europe goes when he joined.

I agree though, you never hear a cheap out him or agent.

“Guidetti has been a Celtic transfer rumour since his 20 goals in 23 games stint at Feyenoord as a teenager in 2011-12”.

Someone at Man city think he has something to keep him on their book ,we have been on his trail for over 2yrs

He has 24 goals in 45 apps, had a torrid time at stoke after Mark Hughes who thought enough of him to bring him to the club took offence to alledged comments in the press and restricted him to 6 subs apperances,

So only IMHO Celtic man city and Mark Hughes see a player in there so I would take a chance on him.

No departures other than Fraser Forster were better than SB. However those who remain are dropping in form / ageing to a level IMO that gives SB a better chance of being a relatively better player this year . Admittedly he was better last season but alas missing in crucial games.

    Jim,

I’m going sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander on this, there are enough aese barers on here that semantics proof when people offer a theory or conjecture and attempt to destroy decent arguments with that stance, for me, I will apply the boards own rules when it comes to issues like this in the same way the arse barers try, the board are guilty until they prove themselves innocent and like supporters who have had their season tickets unjustly removed, the onus will be on the board to prove they did not screw up, I think it’s only fair.

Don’t worry I won’t. The only flag that annoys me flying in Scotland is the Butchers Apron. Still not long now and it will cease to exist (I hope)

  12. Frank Ryan's Whiskey on

UEFA fined Celtic because a fan chose to display a Palestinian flag – UEFA reason the ongoing conflict!! If that is the logic why aren’t teams whose fans display the union jack in Europe fined? When was the last time the UK wasn’t engaged in some form of armed conflict, Ireland, Falklands, Iraq 1&2, Afganistan etc etc. I hope Celtic FC challenge this rather dumb ruling.

Good point. May have been asked earlier but would it be OK to fly Palestine flags if there is a Palestinian player in the team? How about Palestianian fans waving their national flag at Celtic Park?

Ridiculous decision by UEFA. Celtic should seek clarification on this and go public with UEFA’s response.

I accept the rules about no political banners etc but when waving particular national flags becomes an offence surely it is UEFA playing politics.

  15. ok then Mickbhoy that helps my answer..

Guidetti is a swede who has played for feyennord and hopefully now us, like Henke.

He also models for knitting pattern pamphlets in his spare time.

Hope that got you a wee bit more excited :)

  16. Guidetti looked as if he was carrying a bit o weight round the belly tbh!! It may have took a month or so before we seen him anyhow! !

  17. “Ajax supporters display Israeli flags at all their home games. It doesn’t seem to bother UEFA.”

At their European games?? Smells like double standards.

Unless they have been reported to yoofa and our press are only interested in us and st johnstone.

Such a bizarre mindset to be upset by flags, can’t understand it at all. The Olympics must rile these people terribly!

I noticed his badge kissing in the video. He then goes and refuses to train with the rest of his team mates in an effort to get a transfer. He then turns his back on an agreement with Celtic. He then comes crawling back when he doesn’t get the cash he wants.

Exactly what Jellylegs done to get to the huns, and he done the same to them to get to EPL.

The board will do nothing about the flag penalty, simply use it as another excuse to hammer the support into brainless compliance

  22. Morning Celts

So Stefan Scepovic signs for Celtic,as said yesterday this signing denotes the power that is now in the hands of players/agents.In saying that i hope he is a success with our club, yesterdays turnaround antics just show how easy it is to harness our emotions.

he wears the hoops now,and i look forward to him scoring a bucketload with our 100% backing.

    HH to you all :-)

  23. On the Palestinian flag, Dundalk FC have been fined 18,000 Euros for the same “offence” by UEFA last week. They are appealling it. They are a small club in a part time League and that is a whacking great fine for them to have to pay. The whole thing is ridiculous by UEFA.

I didn’t say I was annoyed at all? People can still wave the flag if they want, even if its redundant by then, whatever makes them happy.

It may take a generation but I’m sure the flag wouldn’t be seen much in 50 years.

They haven’t played in a UEFA competition during the current escalation of the conflict.

That said I doubt UEFA would have fined them, but as far as I’m aware there’s no test case for the Israeli flag scenario yet.

    Hey brothers and sisters

Haven’t had time to read back, so I dunno if it’s been flagged (no pun intended), but I want to reshare the On Fields post I put up last night on the Palestinian flag issue. This is one of the worst decisions UEFA’s made in many, many years. It is incomprehensible, and I hate to use the word but it’s also corrupt. It’s a clear political statement on the side of the Israeli state, and whatever your thoughts on what’s going on over there, it is abhorrent for UEFA to take sides in a political debate in the name of neutrality.

    Fly the flag lads.
