Guidetti awaits Fifa, Scepovic held nerve

1862

Celtic await ratification of Guidetti’s transfer by the SFA.  The player travelled to Glasgow yesterday afternoon and quickly concluded a deal with Celtic, but it took until late in the evening before paperwork arrived from Manchester.

Aware of the delay, Celtic applied to the SFA for an extension.  The SFA authorised the extension and subsequently received all relevant paperwork, Celtic believed they were over the line, but I understand we are in new territory with respect to extensions, so the SFA have asked Fifa for guidance.

Paperwork was submitted considerably before Manchester United completed the 2am signing of Radamel Falcao, so there is reason for hope, but it’s not clear in Glasgow what discretion the FA used to register Falcao.  The same may or may not be available to the SFA.

There are also time constraints, player lists for Uefa group stage competitions need to be completed by 23:00 tonight, and we can’t add the player until Fifa issue guidance to the SFA.

If Celtic wanted a more complicated transfer than Guidetti they surely found it with our Serbian striker, Stefan Scepovic.  Transfers involving influences across multiple countries are often difficult……

One thing Celtic are clear about is the endurance of the player, who had to sit through difficult hours in order to make the deal happen.  He kept his nerve as others tried to sell him to Getafe – who were under no Financial Fair Play restrictions.

We’ll do a wrap-up of the window tomorrow.

  2. The Sound Of Silence

Five days after announcing their latest share issue the silence from Ibrox is deafening as Sevco race towards administration.

The company could hardly have been clearer in their warning about finances but to date there has been no statement of intent or even a rallying cry from within the club.

Other than a strop from Ally McCoist at Friday’s media conference and the usual red card protest from a section of rebel fans it’s been business as usual despite the clouds of administration gathering over Ibrox.

None of the directors have indicated that they will be taking up their allocation of shares, McCoist, other than demanding respect at the media conference, hasn’t commented on whether he will be paying 20p per share having previously bought 1,000,000 shares at a penny each.

Despite the shadow of administration the Union of Fans haven’t had anything to add to the debate beyond their usual ‘fans fury’ late night statement that seems to follow every announcement from the club.

    http://videocelts.com/

In 2012 various parties were credited with an interest in saving the club, claims that Mr King or Mr Ashley are poised to swoop for shares this time ignore the fact that neither man is prepared to underwrite the share issue- a sure sign that the offer is doomed to failure.

Friday’s Alternative Market announcement carried the bleak warning that: “Assuming full subscription, the Company will require additional external funding in the latter half of the current financial year in order to meet working capital requirements as a result of the cyclical nature of its business.

“At the minimum level of subscription additional working capital will be required towards the end of the current calendar year. This funding, could be sourced from lines of credit, other forms of short term finance or as a component of a further equity raise, in line with the strategy identified in the Business Review to re-build and re-establish Rangers as a stable, sustainable and successful business.

“There can be no certainty that such funding will be available on commercial terms or at all. Failure to secure such funding would be damaging to the business and may impair the value of the Ordinary Shares. The Open Offer is not underwritten.

“There can be no certainty as to the aggregate level of subscription for New Ordinary Shares. If the aggregate level of subscription is less than 15,000,000 New Ordinary Shares the Open Offer will not proceed and subscription monies will be returned to applicants.

“Should this occur, the Company will be unable to pay its creditors as they fall due and the future of the Company will be uncertain; The Directors will immediately have to seek emergency financing which may or may not be available.”

Alongside the silence from Ibrox there has been no comment from the football authorities.

Having created the Five Way Agreement promises of openness and transparency at Hampden Park are phrases for mission statements rather than reality.

Friday’s announcement basically stated that the club was unsustainable, that the wage bill exceeded income and that McCoist’s side were living way beyond their means. Every other club in the Championship is playing on an uneven playing field yet there hasn’t been a word from Neil Doncaster or Stewart Regan.

Sevco have until September 11 to raise at least £3m to stumble on to a another share issue that will further dilute the shareholding of existing investors.

With no sign of a sugar daddy or the Blue Knights it’s looking like night-night from Sevco as a two year farce reaches it’s natural conclusion.

    I’m a person of Scotland,

You said “My People” and are saying you meant the people of Scotland. You don’t speak for the people of Scotland. You speak for you only. Please remember that.

The facts, however, in this debate, speak for themselves. The claim of bluff, misdirection and assumption also speak volumes of a campaign which is completely empty of substance. Please take commentators’ word on this, not mine. I’m sorry. I wanted to be informed. The yes campaign failed at this.

ok. apologies if I misinterpreted. i thought it was a pop at the last minute madness of transfers.

I agree with you on bang for buck…..in doing a major review of the club the scouting piece would be top of the agenda alongside a plan for connecting the club with the supporters again.

Taurangabhoy. You are correct there is only one poll that counts and each of us only has one vote so cast it which ever way you think is best then cross your fingers and wait. H.H..

He may yet change his mind if he walks past a billboard promoting the Yes vote.

Snake Plissken. You think you have converted two people but unless you are allowed to stand beside them in the polling booth and see where they put there x you just never know for certain. H.H.

  14. ok HP but don’t read any elitist protelatarian gibberish into that. I just like the taste. One thing that is better together. scratcher. Night all, be nice to each other.

Fair enough but I have seen their facebook pages change drastically since they moved that way.

Come to think about it, the share option this time was restricted to existing shareholders I think.

  20. Morning all,

On the Brogued Brother Bryson, I think that this is just a wee conspiracy theory. There is no way (surely) that the SFA would be so stupid to do anything untoward in these matters, particularly when they have had their fingers burned before.

Then again, if the shoe fits….

Hang on, I’m wearing brown brogues!

  21. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Snake Plissken. When I meet either side in the street or at the door to save time and effort I am happy to say I support them it gets me out of arguing with them. However, the fact of the matter is I am really a dont know leaning towards a NO voter. So polls that are conducted before the big day dont impress me I will await the true result as it is the only poll that matters. H.H.

  22. Paul67 or anyone who knows how these processes work!

Why can people like Tom Cleverley move yesterday afternoon?! Clearly a long time after the window closed. It was mentioned on the radio that the FA had allowed the move. Why don’t they have to seek clarification from FIFA?. Why do we have to seek clarification for being being a couple of minutes past midnight in transferring ALL of the docs required when others are HOURS after the so called deadline.

    Something seems fishy to me.

  23. My mate loves to drink. He said he was voting No. I gave him an analogy about ten other pubs deciding the rules for his local . He hesitated ……then told me he has not registered to vote anyway! I`ve got a strong feeling that come September 19th, he will still be drinking in his local regardless of the result.

  24. Martim1980,

Well you certainly have been informed by the “Better Together”side.

    They will privatise the NHS.

They will undertake more swingeing cuts to Social Services.

There will be more food banks.

After a NO vote they will cut money from Scotland.

They have promised more austerity measures.

They will continue to target the weakest of our people.

They will go ahead with Trident. We will pay for it.

They will go ahead with the new English High Speed Train Link.We will pay for it.

They will continue to waste oil revenues as they have done for 40 years, mainly on tax cuts to win elections.

They will elect another Tory Government,to run Scotland.

Nothing like a bit of positive information.

  25. Bhoylo 83 – not on a gluten free diet but I have cut right back on bread, sugar and such like at various times. Feel a lot less sluggish when I do.

Please give ours credit for having a different opinion based on their own reasoned thought

  28. Joe Filippis Haircut and PF Ayr

As I say fair enough and there is only one poll that matters but I believe I have moved two people to voting YES.

In fairness I may have moved people to no as well but that is a risk you have to take.

This matters a lot to all of us and the consequences of the result will have far reaching effects on us all regardless of where we live at the present time because we all have families who will have to live with consequences but not necessarily all the same ones.

Elaine c Smith summed it up last night for me – Vote Labour and get to the back of the bus again.

That is the no vote for me.

  29. Turkey Bhoy,

You’re repeating the same behaviour, I highlighted.

Please be relative, informative and stop making assumptions, or plainly, stop making things up!

The debate last night cleared up for anyone watching how much the yes campaign is based on the Sevco business model- “let’s see how it all pans out”

    No you’re okay thanks.
