Guidetti awaits Fifa, Scepovic held nerve

1862

Celtic await ratification of Guidetti’s transfer by the SFA.  The player travelled to Glasgow yesterday afternoon and quickly concluded a deal with Celtic, but it took until late in the evening before paperwork arrived from Manchester.

Aware of the delay, Celtic applied to the SFA for an extension.  The SFA authorised the extension and subsequently received all relevant paperwork, Celtic believed they were over the line, but I understand we are in new territory with respect to extensions, so the SFA have asked Fifa for guidance.

Paperwork was submitted considerably before Manchester United completed the 2am signing of Radamel Falcao, so there is reason for hope, but it’s not clear in Glasgow what discretion the FA used to register Falcao.  The same may or may not be available to the SFA.

There are also time constraints, player lists for Uefa group stage competitions need to be completed by 23:00 tonight, and we can’t add the player until Fifa issue guidance to the SFA.

If Celtic wanted a more complicated transfer than Guidetti they surely found it with our Serbian striker, Stefan Scepovic.  Transfers involving influences across multiple countries are often difficult……

One thing Celtic are clear about is the endurance of the player, who had to sit through difficult hours in order to make the deal happen.  He kept his nerve as others tried to sell him to Getafe – who were under no Financial Fair Play restrictions.

We’ll do a wrap-up of the window tomorrow.

Now is the very time to do ‘brown brogue’d’ Bryson – time to get right inta him and ask probing questions as to why his department don’t offer the same latitude to Scottish teams as those administrators in England and the rest of Europe.

They are making out the registration oz all automated “automatically rejected by fifa”, my erchie it is. The sfa were in receipt of the deal before midnight and began receiving the supporting paperwork before midnight. THE SFA then took it on themself not to ratify the deal and seek fifa guidance.

    “Aye.”

    Not unusual at all.

I’m up and working when you’re still dreaming of Celtic signing Marian Zaliukas and Lee Wallace.

  8. Morning all. Better day weather-wise down here in prospect. Trust that holds true on CQN.

I was happily surprised at the quality of the programmes on the BBC and STV (particularly the STV) on the referendum yesterday. They are much more of the standard we should be receiving. I see the Moderator has intervened to ask for people involved to be more respectful of one another. I hope they act accordingly.

One thing I would love, although I don’t agree with any of their politics, is, come a Yes vote, the likes of Sheridan, Goldie and Galloway stand for Holyrood. They are all orators and will add much needed colour to the grey faceless serried ranks that muster there presently.

  10. Taurangabhoy:

I’d forgotten how much I liked London. I have a lot of mates and friends here. Re your vote, that, like me, you don’t have, though you will be entitled to citizenship post the vote, good luck to you and I do respect the yes vote and the yes voters. Me I’m concerned about the future of our children and who will pay for the dual education system (in an independent Scotland) and aged care, and the health service, and welfare, and defence, and foreign policy with the embassies and consulates that we don’t have but according to the SNP we will have in 100 hundred countries. (what about the rest?) I’m concerned about all the jobs we’ll lose in the Ministry of defence, don’t get me started on the Scottish Defence Force HQ’d at Faslane. What a joke of a place for a military HQ. (I was stationed there for a while, not in anybody’s world does that come close to fit for purpose for an Military HQ).

What demographic the Scottish Defence Force? Who’d crew a Scottish navy and do they still sell bi-planes? Who is going to staff our Diplomatic Corps? Who will oversee the press? Who will staff our national broadcaster?

I’m concerned for the Insurance and Financial sector jobs that I believe will relocate south. I concerned about future inflation and our independent ability to counter it with interest rates controlled by London, I’m concerned about customs, fisheries protection, drug enforcement, illegal immigration, sectarianism, infrastructure, – rail road and ferry, nepotism, EU membership, tarrifs, flag carrier airline. I’m concerned about so much I could write a James Forrest post on my concerns which would fill ten pages, but I don’t have the time.

I remember this blog for over ten years, in that ten years I can ever only remember myself, Pablo, Kano and Estadio ever posting as to how proud we were to be Scottish. As a matter of fact, I can often remember being ridiculed for stating how proud I was to be Scottish. Now half the blog is prouder than me. Where were all these bravehearts for the past ten years? All through my youth and 20’s I used to bore the tits off all my mates demanding an independent Scotland then I went out into the real world and saw my country in a different perspective. I didn’t love it less I loved it more and I never wanted to leave when I did.

I fear for Scotland Taurangabhoy and if I had a vote I’d vote not for myself but for all the future children of Scotland regardless of colour creed or status; that is not scaremongering – that is simple heartfelt sincere concern for my country (I never took Australian citizenship and doubt I ever will) and I pray my God she stays safe, forever come what evil or may.

    Very touchy this morning.

When Zaliukas was at Hearts you said several times on here that Celtic should sign him.

    Just attention-seeking?

Lee Wallace has been playing against part-time players for two years, that fact alone means he is nowhere near Izzy’s standard, which just to remind you is World Cup level.

You normally like a bit of banter Kev. Disappointing you have gone all sensitive now.

  12. SNP’s ‘Justice Minister’ pfftt!! Kenny MacAskill is the politician who loves the Rangers songsheet.

I disagree entirely. Anyone voting no is ill informed and they will damage this country from Sept 19th onwards should they get their choice. All of the information is out there…. look for it, as I have…. it takes hours and you will fund little or no proper information from the main stream media.

Look at this short 6 minute video regarding the distribution of wealth…. okay it’s in America but applies the western world over.

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QPKKQnijnsM

I cannot comprehend how anyone can even contemplate voting no…. I cannot process that. It is a moronic view and therefore only a foolish or stupid person would do this.

Nothing will change my view on this. And regarding the emotive tone… you better believe it. This is the biggest decision that will probably ever happen in my lifetime. Not only my children….. All of our children, grandchildren and future generations are dependant on us doing the right thing.

    That’s voting YES.

Posted the question last night but it was more like a politics blog so no one answered. Don’t know anything about these things but why can people like Tom Cleverley move yesterday afternoon?!It was mentioned on the radio that the FA had allowed the move. Why don’t they have to seek clarification from FIFA. Something doesn’t seem right.

So Jim Murphy is finally found innocent of the alleged crime which was perpetrated by Kenny MacAskill who happens to be an SNP MP so no wonder you got that wrong so lets just brush over it.

BUT there’s hope as you still vaguely remember some incident that JM might still have committed though!

I wonder if it’s on the same scale as Alex Salmond – Scotland’s First Minister no less (First Ministers, Prime Ministers, Presidents, Kings n Queens get involved in football issues all over the world and call summits at the drop of a hat, not just here) dragging Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell through to Edinburgh to attend a “summit” after the infamous incident where McCoist sneakily whispered something, no doubt obnoxious in Lenny’s ear to get a reaction, after the old Rangers had disgraced themselves on the pitch on their way to losing the game.

And so we got the Offensive Behaviour at Football Actl dumped on us by the SNP – well played McCoist, you played a blinder right enough.

You reckon Jim Murphy’s crime is on a par with that? Pray tell once you recollect it and remember to keep airbrushing Kenny MacAskill’s selective deafness from the annals of history too.

  20. First time I can ever remember where I have to search for Celtic related posts on CQN. Any chance the political debate can move to a political forum? Great spot NL&M. got to be positive that somewhere in UEFA he is recorded as a Celtic player.

On the Jim Murphy MP subject. Anyone see the footage of the so called Yes supporting egg-thrower? Probably. What you may not have seen are the pictures that show this man to have a “wire” behind his left ear. Strange is it not, for a member of the public to be wearing such a device? And is it also not strange that he was not followed / challenged by anyone, including Jims minder / security staff?

Why was this? Because he WAS one of Jims SECURITY STAFF. All staged for negative publicity for the YES campaign and YES supporters. Dirty tricks indeed.

    Here we go again……

Any confirmation on the Guidetti deal or can I get on with my life now?

  23. Anyway…on conclusion…

RD – Please play LG through the middle as a striker.

Please play Kayal and Johansen in the middle of the midfield – not as wide men or indeed trying to put square-pegs into round holes. Please don’t play pishy players in the team in the hope that, ye’ll get something for them – ye won’t. By pishy players I mean, the diminished Izzy, the out of his depth Muldini, the utterly useless Stokes at whom, the flow of play breaks down and the nose oot of joint Commons who is no-bad domestically but, pish poor in Europe. imho

    Thanks – Hail Hail
