Guidetti the exceptional talent

1003

We’ve had a few free kick experts in modern times.  Lubo was first.  He could hit them, and score with them, with either foot.  The man was a menace to opponents on many levels.  He also taught us that hitting the ball as hard as possible into an opponent’s body, standard fare for Celtic in the 80s and early 90s, was a poor return from a dead ball situation.

Lubo clearly influenced Shaun but it wasn’t until Naka arrived that Shaun really found his grove.  With right footed Maloney and left footed Nakamura lining up behind the ball keepers were forced to leave a vulnerable space at any centrally-located free kick.

I don’t remember any player scoring with three consecutive free kicks, an absolutely exceptional feat.  John Guidetti is proving to be an exceptional player.  From what I hear he’s also enjoying being a Celtic player, there’s been a meeting of minds on what is expected and what’s on offer.

This is a young player who has already learned a few lessons on football clubs and career management.  He has the makings of a Celtic legend.

Those of you who weren’t there last night, make sure you see the goals.  Four of them were exceptional.

Many thanks to everyone who has big on our auction for two debenture seats for the Inverness game on Saturday, courtesy of Celtic sponsor, Magners.  Funds raised go towards building our forth kitchen for Mary’s Meals in Malawi, specifically for the 909 children who attend Chibwata Primary School in Dowa, which currently doesn’t have a kitchen.

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, but………  things are improving.  93% of your money raised is getting to the projects on the ground, Mary’s Meals are now feeding hundreds of thousands of kids there each day, over 2000 of them in kitchens CQN readers have already built.

Kids who are fed at school there are able to attend instead of having to work for food – primary school attendance is up 30% after Mary’s Meals build a kitchen.  As a result they all get a basic education, some of them are set on a road to a higher education and all have better chances in life.

The auction closes tomorrow. You will do nothing better today than get involved with this one, which you can do here.

    FoCUS was created on the back of the shame game at Celtic Park. Yes, I agree with TBB that there were other variables, particularly the egotism of House. However, in my opinion the following summits were a sham that Celtic should never have participated in.

    Anyways I need to head to 5s. I hope you’re enjoying your break in the sun

    Ps I’ve been invited to the forum meeting on Monday also so I’ve decided that I’m going to ask a shed load of awkward questions and then give them your name as mine :-)

  2. He is here on loan to buy. He isn’t our player. We effectively have him on a year long trial to see if he’s up to it. He’s now already accumulated baggage.

    Add that to the fact he didn’t want to be here only a year ago and the rumours that he isn’t particularly chuffed to be here.

    Celtic are in a no-win situation I agree. But I just think it’s best to draw a line under it.

  3. Next weekend an opposition player accuses Guidetti of racist abuse. With no apparent witnesses. SFA hands down the sentence.

    Would all the people calling for Tonev back to Villa make the same call of Guidetti?

  4. I know the SFA are rotten to the core with many Celtic haters in situ, but even for them i’m shocked with decision surely they would have contacted club with reasons for decision.

    If they have proof send ATs gear to Villa by post if they dont shame on them and the club should take all possible action against those decision makers.

    As I said in a case as big as this surley they have not convicted a man soley on the word of another man without corroborating evidence.

  5. Faithfulthruandthru on

    Stairheedrammy, i do not disagree, but if at the end of the process he is still found to be guilty, then the club have to accept the decision and the ramifications of that decision and what it means to the good name of the club, never mind that it is an offence which may result in dismissal.

    Just because they have treated us very poorly in the past, it should not take away from the serious nature of this charge and whether they have acted in good faith on this occasion. Shay Logan was pretty sharp to mention it to the ref i seem to recall so something was said which offended SL to the extent he highlighted it immediately on the park.

  6. TD We are The Celtic Football Club and our ethos should not be stained by a loan player who obviously said something unsavoury, otherwise there would not have been a complaint. We are now being repeatedly dragged through the muck by SSN/J. White. Now front page news for all the wrong reasons. SSN diverting Hun meltdown attention by referring to this every 5 minutes. We don’t need it. Get rid.

    Players with reputations of being racist have not had to worry about reputation

    Look at Mihajlovic, Suarez, Terry etc. Football generally doesn’t care. Even Marlon King found clubs.

  8. The old ledgers were thrown out before FoCUS was born to fudge the new numbers to get even might be true as some are want to claim.

    I always wondered how damning those old ledgers were but they were never going to be allowed to reflect reality ever again.

  9. Do we get rid of every Celtic player that has an accusation made against him?

    Every single one?

    googybhoy ♥ celtic

    Obviously you don’t get it, the man’s name would be tarnished, and who would want him?

    The way John Terry has been tarnished?

    Plenty would have him no matter the loss of reputation.

    Football is all about money.

    That was not my main point which is in agreement with you.

  11. Mike in Toronto.

    Sorry late getting back to you. Had to tidy up before the mars came home.

    I think most people would toast one side of the bread before putting cheese on the untasted side.

    Then putting it under the grill.

    Regards your mans chariot if you take both wheels off surely it then becomes a sledge?

    So it’s only our player that could possibly be lying, that’s inferred by what you’re saying.

    It’s not even that black and white. The Aberdeen player might have thought he heard something that he didn’t. Especially with crowd noise all around.

  13. Kit, I say again,

    We are The Celtic Football Club and our ethos should not be stained by a loan player must have considered the who obviously said something unsavoury, otherwise there would not have been a complaint.

    Agree that justice can be rough but something nasty was obviously said. Otherwise why was there such a solid complaint. AFC must have considered this before backing their player.

    HH

  14. Tonev – you can’t just bin a guy because you don’t rate him, that’s pretty poor.

    If he denies it and Celtic believe him then it’s right that we stick by him unless the SFA can provide proof. I’m assuming they can’t else Celtic wouldn’t have released that statement.

    2000 years of philosophy on this question ….and you’ve just blown it all to s**t in one sentence. Take a bow!

    Even if the Aberdeen player is convinced he heard something, it doesn’t actually make it true. Nor does it make him a liar.

  17. Agree that justice can be rough but something nasty was obviously said. Otherwise why was there such a solid complaint. AFC must have considered this before backing their player.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    As Celtic did by backing theirs, back to square one.
  18. So now we know how easy it is to get a player thrown out of the game, and that is without witnesses.
    What a can of worms that could open.
  19. GerryBhoy:
    And neither should we accept anything – anything – ever – from the SFA, as being just and fair.
    They are corrupt, the game is corrupt, why do you think so many people have stopped going to the games….
    It can get more corrupt though and Celtic shouldn’t be party to anymore lynchings.
    Take it to a court, have them make a decision on the evidence, and if they find the SFA corrupt in malice then sue the feck out of the SFA. Oh sorry I got carried away in a wee dream there.
    I know all about the ethos and name of Celtic.
  20. Unless the SFA have proof,they have opened the flood gates for a name calling situation every time any contention shown.
    This is a judgement against Celtic,Tonev is just a useful excuse.
  21. John Bhoy seems to tic all the boxes.
    Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need
    I need a hero
    I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the end of the night
    He’s gotta be strong
    And he’s gotta be fast
    And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight
    I need a hero
    I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the morning light
    He’s gotta be sure
    Like a fire in my blood
    I need a hero
    I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the end of the night
    I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the end of the night
  22. Mike in Toronto – Yes, last night would have been a better time to mention that. However, to test your theory on the said young damsel; i’ll swing by for a couple of pints next time I’m downtown…..maybe tonight.lol
    Toasted cheese, toast one side of the bread and flip over and apply the cheese to the untoasted side and pop under the grill; that’s the way I used to do it when I came home from the jiggin withoot a lumbar:0)
  23. If Tonev loses his appeal, and he maintains his innocence, he should sue Logan, Aberdeen and the SFA. Celtic on the overhand should terminate loan deal should he lose appeal.
