Mulgrew is a step back. Decent player but far too slow and injury prone, and question marks over role in the dressing room. Word is he was offered a new deal on reduced terms and went away to think about it, or in other words, to get a better deal elsewhere, which hasn’t materialised.

  3. the glorious balance sheet on

Hapoel were a better team than Malmo but they lacked a finisher of the class of griffiths.

Will watch their progress in the Europa league with interest.

Saw comments earlier saying Brendan Rodgers is the first Celtic manager to qualify for CL in his first attempt. No he isn’t Martin O’Neill did likewise in his first crack at the CL in 2001.

What Brendan has done well is identify guys like toure and Sinclair and got them into the team in time for these games. These 2 guys made a huge contribution over the 2 games and were the difference between us qualifying and not qualifying.

Such a welcome change to be buying guys who can make an immediate impact rather than the jam tomorrow projects that we have seen arrive in abundance in recent years.

An accomplished right back and midfielder in and moving the likes of boyata, Johansen on would see us right for the challenges ahead this season.

And I hope whatever pot 1 team we get, we finish with a home game against them on matchday 6 with them home and hosed and resting players. Gives us a better chance of picking up the 3 points.

  4. HHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We qualified and we were F*CKIN’ TERRIBLE!!!!

Get it right F*ckN ROON YE ya dirty Orange tramp B*stards!!!!!!!

    VIVA the HOOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. After that nerve jangling night in a stifling hot stadium, I initially thought we’d be facing a bad reaction for the Aberdeen game on Saturday.

However I’m now thinking the boost of getting though, heightened by the CL draw itself may lift us through the obvious toll on our energy levels.

  6. How does it FEEL, Level 5?

How does it FEEL, Traynor, you pathetic sell-out sycophantic servile Orange Bastard?

How does it FEEL, specky fuckwit sidekick, you servile, bitter Orange tragedy?

    HA.

    FcknHA! HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

    Tgbs,

Or did we make them look better. Imo we were much worse tonight than we were away to Malmo.

Well noticed about Martins first attempt though. ;)

There’s few at Parkhead with the quality of his delivery. In addition, I watched him and Erik at Firhill, Mulgrew coached him through the game.

Hapoel were a really Classy team. They played the game in the right way. A real Credit to Israel and they promote Israeli Fitba very well.

    =========================================

Perceptive, petec. Should have pumped us. Fine side who will trouble a lot of bgger clubs. Much better than expected. Nobody will take 5 of fthem in the near future.

    Missed Effe tonight

    ====================

joke or not – thought it true; Janko was overloaded, faced a nightmatre scenario of commit or not every time; Efe would have alleviated his pain.

  14. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Brilliant. Absolutely no negatives for Celtic on a night like this. Well done all.

Couple of negatives impacting others though

    1. Genuine respect to the Hapoel players. “Giving your all” is a cliche most of the time. Those lads left it all out on the pitch tonight.

    2. Scottish football should be seriously worried. Aberdeen and Hearts rightly outside the top 100 ranked teams in Europe if tonight’s performance by a team with no real history or pedigree is anything to go by.

Scottish football 20 years behind everyone else thanks to a policy of putting talentless Rangers lovers in key strategic roles. Time for a clear out.

BTW – just brilliant tonight Celtic.

    Hail hail and good night.

  15. Lustig is a great RB , promote Ralston as his deputy; i thought Janko was decent…., i wouls have subbed him after 25 mins, BR knows better

  16. I watched last week’s first leg again later in the evening.

I won’t watch tonight’s in case the outcome changes.

    =====================

I wish I was amongst them,

    To feel their bitter pain

To dry their tears upon their sashes

To hear the laments and the anguish

To see their state is terminal

To laugh at their torment infernal

And know they’ll never reach our heights again.

    I’m a poet and I don’t know it.

  18. I know this won’t go down well with some but we feel it’s hugely deserved.

On Saturday the Celtic Trust are proposing that on the 15th minute the Celtic support stand up and applaud for the recent efforts of the Green Brigade.

Currently, the groups initiative has raised just under £133,000.

Yes, a small group of Celtic supporters have raised our club’s profile, the profile of an horribly oppressed community and also highlighted the positive affect that football can have in politics.

The club that was founded to feed an impoverished Irish immigrant community once again stood up to the line.

Ignore those with a hatred of their fellow Tims and express your gratitude for a hugely worthy cause, carried out in our name.

    Hail Hail

  19. The rollercoaster continues.

Fun being a Tim tonight but tough on the old blood pressure.

Efe was tagged as being an unlucky player for many incidents costing goals.

I’m afraid Craig has also fallen into that category.

It is not really about luck though.

It’s about judgement in critical moments.

Craig was tentative in his catch and he dropped the ball.

Efe’s body was often at the wrong angle.

Both Kieran and Janko lacked protection from players in front of them.

That Kieran coped better was not just luck.

Minute details in coaching can change players but natural talent helps.

    Wonderful idea.

You can count me in on that.

The Green Brigade have done more in the past week to raise the profile of Celtic FC worldwide than the last 5 years of paid marketing.

    A phenomenon.

You trying to smoke out The Always Ultras. I hear them flying in. Head honcho will rebuke you soon.

You’ve got my email there’s something else I could do with some help with on Saturday if you’re interested.

  23. That game was torture!!

But main thing is WE’RE THROUGH!!

My take on tonight’s game (for what it’s worth)…

My biggest fear wasn’t the ability of HBS – it was our own inabilities…and so it was to be.

1st goal – Poor defence to concede at corner.

Brown lets his man have a free header, unchallenged and unhindered, from less than 12 yards and bang centre in front of goal.

CG’s feet too slow to react and stop a header cross the line a good 3 ft inside his post. Did KT distract him?

Poor from SB and CG, imo.

2nd goal – CG has to scream at SJ to gtf out of my way “my ball”. Maybe he did and was ignored? Either way, SJ has to see he is running into his own keeper!

Minor fault to Lustig – he was so wrapped up in making sure his opponent didn’t get near the cross, could he have attacked the ball and cleared with his head? As I say, minor fault, as he was entitled to expect his keeper to take ball.

My MOTM? Big Kolo – got on the end of so many crosses and cleared our lines.

Pass marks (7/10 maybe) to Lustig, and big Erik.

Good efforts from Dembele, Tierney and Sinclair.

    Poor service to Griffiths.

Rogic hard to assess – did little on the ball, but closed down space when switched to 5-3-2.

Poor performance from rest – Janko very poor, though never hid. Just not good enough – never a defender.

Brown and Bitton showed us, again, that they can’t be relied upon to play together when we need a midfield to get a grip of the game. CMG our 3rd misfiring midfielder.

Midfield is the engine of any side – they help protect the back line, and support the forwards. Our midfield were rank tonight. You can talk about systems and formations all night, but these 3 failed to string simple passes together. Hope Brendan has a quality centre midfielder and right back in his sights.

Come Thu, we are in the draw and at the end of the day, that’s what counts. It’s better than I thought we’d do when last season ended, that’s for sure!

Let’s look forward to being in the draw on Thursday – don’t care who we get, but would prefer to avoid teams we’ve drawn in recent past. Give us some new places to visit please.

    Bedtime now, for me.

Back in morning to catch up with you guys.

    HH

  24. Just watching game again on BT sport and have now realised how the referee blew for every ball our backs won in the air yet let Hapoel players go through the back of Celtic’s players without any problem or punishment.

Hapoel Beer Sheva are no great shakes as a team, when we put pressure on them their keeper was dodgy and their defenders were prone to hoofing the ball too.

As I re-watch the game I am less convinced of their threat. We made our own bad luck tonight with some terrible defending. Live I was bricking it seriously, got so bad even the dogs became nervous as the picked up on my anxiety.

  25. Had a quick skim back as couldn’t sleep… Great posts from usual suspects…sips, acgr, ht, vfr and SAOR ULADH…. Not being disrespectful to anyone I missed… However…. Top post to

Magic. I had a cuddle with my bhoy at full time too… He got up out of bed as he heard me laughing… Came running through saying “why you laughing Dad… Did we make it? You said we would…. ?” I just picked him up and hugged him with tears running down my face “aye son – we did”

So HT… You’re not the only big saftie!!! :-) and as vfr says… Defo no need to be embarrassed xx

Defo night now…. Hail HAIL :-)
