Hapoel threat has merit, fabrications don’t make SFA report

790

Hapoel Beer-Shiva delivered Olympiakos first defeat in a Champions League qualifying match in six years. The Greeks have competed in the group stage every season since, holding their own throughout the period, so getting knocked out by Hapoel was the equivalent of losing a Scottish Cup semi-final to a lower-league club.

Hapoel are not better than Olympiakos, not nearly so, but they were good enough to progress when they got the breaks. Anyone who thinks we’ll easy past them into the group stage is being ridiculously complacent.

I’m trying to avoid the nonsense coming out of Ibrox while we have more important things going on, but good grief! Please, please, have them follow through on the nonsense of ditching their legally contracted Puma strips to wear something else.

That stadium seems to be a beacon attracting stupid people doing stupid things.

You’ll note the INDEPENDENT SFA report on crowd at the Scottish Cup final recorded no assaults whatsoever on Newco players. This clearly caused some dissonance at the media organisations who reported utter fabrications after the game.

Never mind, Newco is in the same good hands which were on the tiller when their disastrous EBT plan was enacted, and the players who benefited from EBTs are front and central of Newco media coverage.

If you can’t see how this story ends, you’re not looking.

  1. I spoke earlier about agents setting the agenda by feeding crap to fans. Another trick is to try to cut out the money people behind the club. To do this they promote the mantra that managers have to be in charge of signings. this allows two managers (one buying one selling) to fix an inflated price. The agent agrees an inflated fee for their services and the agent and two managers can enjoy the profit. or for a died club it might be an EBT payed to an ex manager who is one point in the triangle.

  2. Jobo-Danny McGrain is my fav all time Celtic player, i arranged a charity game many moons ago in Kinlochleven After thanking the Dukla Pumpherston mob pre match for turning up,Andy Richie asked if i wanted to play……..i thought it was a wind up…it wasn’t……i was asked what position i played(midfield actually), but i said if i am in the same team as Danny i will play anywhere.I have a video of about 60 minutes of the game, to hear Danny shouting my name asking for a pass……what a buzz that was

  3. TET-i think we are on the same page; what BR has done very quickly is adjust formations when a game is in play, which is what i have been asking for years;a proper football coach HH

  5. I wish you could bottle the emotions of being a Celtic supporter. From the depths of watching the old cos 9 in a row , raith rovers, black Sunday in Motherwell to the highs of 79, 85 and 88, the 6-2 game and victories against Man utd Ac Milan juventus and other notable luminaries. From Lisbon to Seville i would breathe it in every day. Onwards and upwards.

  6. Hunderbirds are Gone on

    ROY CROPPIE, OR ANYONE

I heard a story In the 80’s, a few years after Murdo McLeod joined us, that during his time with Dumbarton, Murdo was playing in a game, and on hearing that Original Rangers were winning at half time he let out a “yes”, or something, and got stiffened by Pat McCluskey for his cheek.

Anyone else ever hear of that?

  7. Just in from a nice evening in Helensburgh with good friends – was told, and I know it’s gossip/heresay, that McGeady is coming back – don’t usually post speculation, however this came from a good source – wait and see, don’t know what I think about it, if true.

  8. Hunderbirds are Gone on

I think to remember it for so long, I must have believed it. Wracking my brains to try and remember who told me, and if they were a reliable source, but I can’t.
