The keeper was unsighted for part of the time the ball was in flight. The goal was offside.
I think the ref played advantage over the penalty claim and then, if he’d applied the rules correctly, would have been in the ridiculous position of disallowing the goal and awarding the penalty.
No doubt that would have been cited as evidence of bias.
As I said if he was as biased as people are saying there would have been no penalty and no goal.
QF on
I would think to a neutral watching the game today that our first should have been offside. the penalty was not a penalty so ref got both wrong. hearts were physical but got six yellow cards (and one for celebrating) that was about correct. final verdict – poor refereeing for big decisions but that they evened out over the game. if you were using this game to show bias to a neutral, I think you would have a difficult job.
I know he wasn’t playing but the team did very well to grind out that result. There has been a very noticeable improvement in the team since Brendan took over – loads more spirit and confidence.
Imagine what the game might have been like if PR had played (and not been hacked by the cluggers).
Internet been down for a wee while here, just watched the Brendan post match interview.
Check out the body language of Spanner and Snottery Nosed MCCann, utterly servile and desperate to please. I bet they went and had a shower straight after,
Brendan seems t have them in place just now, long may it continue…..

Was in Carnlough on Friday an oasis of sanity in a bitter Hun infested North Antrim. I don’t think the beautiful song “I wish I was in Carrickfergus” will ever mean the same to me again. A Hun hell hole if I ever saw one and don’t even mention Bushmills the most bitter town of the lot, they make a lovely whiskey but I’ll nae be touching a drop of it again.
Yet in wee Carnlough a solitary Tri-Colour flew high & proud, Brendan coming from that part of the world knows the score, believe me. There were no Hun flags there.

I agree with ernie. If the referee was so desperate for Celtic to lose ( as is claimed by some on here), he would not have allowed our first goal to stand nor would he have given us a penalty instead.
My da was and my brother is fond of a wee Bushmills but I could not bring myself to go in to buy a gift bottle of the stuff when I saw the array of flags outside the building.
Went to the Giant’s Causeway instead- nae flags there

Hello all,
Back home after an enjoyable opening day fixture at Tynecastle. Great result against tough opponents.
Thought Craig Gordon made a few brilliant saves, late block from Cowie’s shot was a very instinctive one.
Brendan is a class act, 4 changes of formation to adapt to the game and situation we found ourselves in.
Sinclair (and wee James too) took his goal very well after a super piece of play from Griff. Brown’s first half was excellent, he’s been raring to go since ex-con Barton said he was out his league. Maybe Dougie Imrie would also disagree???
Hearts impressed me, they passed the ball well and were very physical with us. They’ll give the newly promoted team a hiding if they play like that. Watt played well. Didn’t boo him but his kick on Brown was unsavoury. Could’ve been more gracious.
Hopefully a few more signings like Sinclair from Brendan. Well, back to reality tomorrow but at least football is back!

Think big Jozo once fit would play before Erik, passing is better but probably more importantly for balance at the back
I agree with that team, except for the 2 newbies which we wont get . So I would choose Rogic and AN Other from (Bitton, Christie, Armstrong McGregor, Ajer) until Regan Hendry is trusted to step up.
Of course, both Rogic and Forrest need to be willing to sign a new contract in the next month or we should sideline them.
The referee was brutal today, from the pen that never was to the red that was, Cowies tackle on Kieran was a red all day long, he made no attempt to get the ball, none whatsoever, it was a red.

Visited the ole Giants Causeway a few years ago,
Bushmills is a hun hole as are many of the towns in the region.
My daughter asked in her innocence ” why are there loads of English flags” ,well I said many of these people consider themselves British rather than Irish and so they like to fly lots of British flags just to prove how British they are ..
It’s. A good night from me, been a good weekend on the football front and on the food and drink front. Off to the NEC tomorrow , so many miles to drive.
Have a good time everyone…

TET, Dembele will be a player so will Ajer, I still have hopes for Christie but different players develop at a different pace.
However you are right it is horses for courses and there needs to be squad rotation to protect players.
Some poster in after match comments suggested that Tierney should be rested against Motherwell and I agree.
Up to now players needed games to get up to fitness, but from here on we need to look at the bigger picture.
Qualification for Group Stage Champions League is the big one, I’d wrap KT in cotton wool until the Israelis come calling.
I honestly haven’t seen enough of Jozo, he looked disinterested last season from what I saw, maybes that’s a bit harsh, but he didn’t look interested to me :-)
We will see soon enough

I think its good that James Forrest wants to stay, he more or less said the same thing to Ronny Deila but wouldn’t sign, and still hasn’t signed.
The next bit is getting him to accept what we can only assume is a very fair offer, and one and a half decent games, doesn’t somehow merit a new improved contract offer does it?
