“Are you suggesting Celtic were thriving under Ronny? ”

    Nope!

And that is a complete non-sequitur from the position we disagree on.

Celtic thrived in their first RD season with VVD and Jason; they bombed in the second season without them. Despite Hearts reported improvement, RD’s Celtic had a great record against them in both of his seasons in charge. Anyone suggesting that RD could not have won there today has a shedload of evidence against that proposition.

  2. Thanks for your efforts Ronny.

    But thankfully you are gone.

    It’s onwards and upwards now.

Thanks for that great account of the original SunnyJim.

    Without prejudice.

I chose that nom de blog for reasons that are still mysterious to me.

A personal statement about how I wanted my life to be and to become? Maybe.

A tribute to someone I knew or read about? Maybe

Unseen hand guiding me. I KNOW I have read about Jim in many of the history Celtic books I have.

Hate it when there are things I know I know, but have forgotten.

Things that I have forgotten that I didn’t realize I knew – is a new development.

Thanks again. Love that Celtic wiki.

  4. August is a tough month for us.

7 competitive games and a friendly.

I’m sure Brendan will make use of the full squad on Wednesday night.

Fortunately the travel rigors aren’t too bad, although the Hapoel Be’er Sheva flight will be about 5 hours, followed by an hour’s trip to the Negev if they use Ben Gurion.

I think the only alternative is at Eilat which is even farther.

    Feelgood?

Aye,of course. Great team performance earlier against very difficult and physical opponents.

I’ll feel even better in two hours when this shift is done.

    How’s tricks?

    All good here , mate.

Shared the game with my boy.

    11.15 pm K.O.

The victory was made all the sweeter by the sense of injustice over the penalty.

And by the involvement of Leigh ( another sickener for the minis ) and S.S. for the winner.

Stumbles are inevitable , but I have the feeling that we are on the right track.

    Finally.

Current Norn Iron keeper Michael McGovern and ex-NI man Allen McKnight could compete with Packie for the numberest 1 jersey.

  11. Good morning friends from a damp, bright but still blustery East Kilbride. Ticket bought for the Motherwell game. Should be a cracker. A few seats still left ;-)

Looking promising that I’ll be able to “jet in” for Wednesday’s game.

Assume BV will be watering hole of choice??

Lost Jim’s #… tell him BV on Wednesday or I give the cigs to a deserving person.

I’ll mail you about it,bud. I’d expect a fair few to be in the BV prior to the match.

Pity you couldn’t make it last week. ACGR and a few cronies hit fun city and hit it hard-I don’t think DELANEYSDUNKY has been heard from since!

  14. I could be wrong but did Scott actually connect for his goal? It looks to me like it only came of the Hertz player. Scott certainly caused it but I think he didn’t touch with his instep.

    No worries. They all count.:-)

  15. BMCUW

    Ok, thanks.

    ACGR… how’s our cask maturing?

Good point. I noticed that virtually all of the comments were critical of King, and of “Rangers” and their current status.

Does that suggest that the MSM have misjudged their demographic?

  18. Not very happy that we now seem to have a precedence where the referee looked at video footage at half time. The ref apologised to Brendan for getting it wrong “at half time”.

Very dangerous. Did that influence the ref to NOT give a penalty in the second half? Which was also not a penalty anyway.

I don’t like it at all. Referees potentially subconsciously, or otherwise, evening up a mistake in the first half with an equally wrong decision in the second half. That’s just wrong.

After the game, by all means but not during.

Also, I still don’t see what Sinclair did wrong after scoring to merit a yellow card (apart from being in possession of a Celtic top and a big smile). His momentum took him off the pitch towards the Hearts fans. He immediately ran away towards the Celtic fans. He didn’t jump any hoardings or leap into the crowd. No gestures to the Hearts fans.

A case of evening up the yellow for the Hearts diver who apparently “cupped his ears” to the Celtic fans.

  19. SuperSutton

Both very good points. If they’re not going to allow official video Refs then they shouldn’t allow unofficial ones. Football seems to be the last sport on earth that doesn’t embrace technology. Officially anyway.

There seems to be a universal wish for the death of Rangers.

However, I`m really enjoying the death throes or perhaps death rattle.

    The decline and fall. :-)

Thanks for bringing the comments to my attention.

  22. CULTSBHOY – SEES RIGHT THROUGH LAWWELL AND THE BOARD on 8TH AUGUST 2016 12:45 AM

    _____________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Hail Hail fella, totally agree.

Although, by a curious twist, the empty stadium bit the board on the bahooky and BR was the outcome of the board’s re-action….guid.

Lawwell can make a massive contribution to the club but, he cannot be thee dominating figure that he’s been since the departure of MO’N…imho.

My own personal jury has been out about the appointment of BR mainly because I’ve not really paid too much attention to him because, I’m only interested in managers who I think might be in with a chance of the Celtic job. BR was way off the radar ie: because of his status down south. So, when he was appointed I started to think….what’s going on here ?

Why no English teams in for BR ?

Why no European teams in for BR ?

Now, I know that he’s only been here for a handful of games but, already he is introducing his own brand of dynamics to, not just the footballing side but, every aspect of the club….guid.

Lawwell might actually be glad to get out of the limelight, the last time that I seen PL he didny look too grand, indeed he looked rather frail and, he’s also come out of one his administrative positions with the SFA only recently, I hope he’s well in terms of his health. I know that he’s taken more money out of the club than anyone but…..I hope he’s ok.

Anyway, another pleasing aspect to BR is his, take no sh#t approach to mibbery….guid.

And, he’s conducting himself in the public gaze with, the style of MO’N’s – iron-fist-in-a-velvet-glove – sort of,….”This is my Celtic so….don’t fluk with it.”….non, punchbag, back of the bus, look the other way sort of p#sh that we’ve had to endure since the sad departure of MO’N….imho.

I think that in the not too distant future we’ll see BR as the main man at the club – not in a power broker kind of way – I don’t think that that’s his thing.

But, I would imagine that if, folk within the club try to oppress BR or indeed, try to dig tunnels under him then they’ll very quickly feel the brogue of the BRodge…imho…..guid.

    BR’s Celtic, yesterday….were MO’N-esque….imho.

That’ll tick all the boxes in my yard anyway.

Only one wee doubt about BR remains for me….

Will he pass the Big Mark McGhee test on Wednesday night ? ;-)

    Hail Hail Tims.
