  1. AN DUN on 25TH MAY 2019 8:34 PM

Lawwell says of all the managers he’s worked with, Lenny has the best eye for a player.

He brought us Pukki, Derk Borrigter, Amido Balde, Bangura, Freddie Lundberg, Daryl Murphy and Cha Du Ri amongst other luminaries….

  2. !!Bada Bing!! on

Remember Lustig’s legs have gone……going at it as much as anyone after 95 minutes, would be gross stupidity to let him go,a great Celtic player for me…

  3. Scott Brown’s words:

“It’s phenomenal. It can’t get much better.

“We all found out on Twitter and all the lads are diving about in the changing room. We went out, got the gaffer and brought him back in. The cheer for the manager to get the job – it was phenomenal. He deserves it. It has been a hard one since he came in but he’s the only man in my eyes for the job.

“He has had to win two trophies and yet again he has shown that he knows how to win trophies. He’s a fantastic man manager and he’s been fantastic since he came in. He speaks well and every single one in that changing room loves him.”

    The people who should know.

  4. BIG PACKY !

I offer you my hand in friendship on this wonderful night!

    No harm meant.

    Take care.

  5. TheLurkinTim on

    Philbhoy…if you can’t justify it today…you never will ;-))

    H.H.

  6. HEADTHEBALL:

They found out on Twitter. This is our club. This is how the most important decision it’s faced in years has been handled. On the last possible day, after a scrappy performance, appointing a guy who was sacked by Hibs when they were 8th in the league … and the players found out on Twitter.

Yes, yes indeed. This is who we are.

  7. PHILBHOY on 25TH MAY 2019 8:55 PM

    ————————-

    Marvelous PHILBHOY.

Celtic, Celtic… The greatest team the world has ever seen!

    HH. ? ?

  8. I suspected after P67’s down playing of the game at Ibrox before a ball was kicked that Lennon was the chosen one. As blatant an example of expectation management as you’re likely to see.

I don’t think we looked elsewhere. I honestly think we’ve set on our hands for three months hoping it would all work out. It has. Thankfully.

Everything about Lennon’s appointment seems amateur – offering him it in the fecking shower room and sending out a tweet before Hampden had even emptied.

Anyway, a great day. A day for celebration.

The season ahead will be a slog. It will be trench warfare football.

For now though, today has to be enjoyed.

  9. By the way, what did you EXPECT Scott Brown to say on the day his new boss is appointed?

“Well we were holding out for something better but …”

    Really.

  10. HEADTHEBALL

Some of our players played around or more than 60 games this season.

Lenny did not inherit a fresh squad.

I’m happy to see what he does after pre season and with hopefully some new faces.

    In Lenny I trust.

  11. If you get a chance watch PC Lustig camera angle from the Hearts (Hun) end … he heads the ball then immediately puts both hands on his head … as the ball goes through and Odsonne (Larsson) goes through one on one … Mika still has hands on head, ball hits back of the net ala Larsson ,… Mika runs away hands in the air … magical

Philbhoy how did that young looking C get landed with a 70yr old you :-)

  12. Go tell the Spartim on

Now, the greatest gift you could give me would be to set aside the anger and all together unite to blow the wind in our sails, to push forward the only thing that we care about, the thing that comes first and foremost ahead of everything: Roma.

From the mouth of Daniele DiRossi but substitute Celtic for Roma

  13. Headtheball

I’d hoped a diminishing Scott Brown would play less of a role next season. I love the guy but a new man would not have been so sentimental.

Scott will be the player Lenny builds the team around net season. No wonder he’s pleased. Everyone gets the devil they know, Lawell especially.

  14. James F 9.02pm

Who would win in a fight being mutually consented by Hibs or mutually consented by Reading ???

Asking for a couple of friends (Neil & Brendan)

  15. GFTB

C is 10 years younger than me!

    How lucky am I!

    Don’t answer that!

Hope you and you are good!

  16. Yeah “give it a rest Forrest” as if I was the person who decided that today of all days was the right one on which to announce we’d given the job to Lennon after all.

This reeks so bad, it really does, and some of you are going to live in denial right up until reality hits you.

This will end in disaster. Disaster. At the start I was just against it on the grounds that we couldn’t give it to a guy who walked out once before because he was bored, and that appointing Neil Lennon after Brendan Rodgers would be a backward step.

But then I watched us under him. I listened to his press conferences, his excuses, his deflections, his hiding behind Rodgers tactics, I watched his inabilty to make game changing decisions and I thought long and hard about his career, I researched his views on the modern aspects of the game and over the last three months, which I mistakenly assumed the board would spend wisely instead of crossing their fingers and praying for success, I came to a much harsher conclusion.

Disaster, that’s what I’m saying to you. Nothing short of that.

So enjoy the moment. I cannot escape the creeping sensation of dread that this announcement gives me, that and the amatuerish way it’s been handled, the appalling PR, the cynicism of it.

So yeah, I daresay you’d like me to shut up but I’ll say what I have before; one of us is right and one of us is wrong. I hope the wrong one is me, but it’s not.

  17. Delighted to have won the 3 x 3 today

As I mentioned yesterday, long term decisions should not be made in an emotional state.

I will celebrate a further trophy (and history) this afternoon.

I will, respectfully, disagree with our choice and timing of new managerial announcement.

  18. Philbhoy 9.10pm

All great here, glass always half full, the C’s in our life… and also with your O and my E … I can assure I know how lucky we both are … plus Celtic as a wee bonus :-)

  19. James F 9.11pm

Any opinion on Brendan getting the bullet fae Reading ? Or does that not suit your “Lennon” getting mutually consented from Hibs opinion ?

  20. Enjoyed the game at Hampden today. Great table of Tic fans in the Nevis Suite.

The news of Lennons appointment ruined the day. Disgusted by Lawwell.

With CL qualification failure it would better to sack him.

Roll on to more turgid fitba from a dinosaur

  21. GFTB:

It’s a ridiculous question and you surely do not expect me to answer it.

Rodgers went on to come within an ace of winning a title at Liverpool.

Lennon’s biggest job in football was the Celtic job. He’s the first person to get it twice and not deserve it either time.

Look, as I said, I’m either right or I’m wrong and i’m not predicting failure; I’m predicting disaster.

So don’t worry; if i’m just an internet loon everything’s gonna be alright. No need to concern with my view or how I arrived at it.

  22. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

See them that resent Lenny getting the job,

    copulate them.

A serious black operation to destroy Lenny’s character was implemented and it will not stop.

Lenny will provide the next two trebles and the gobshites will still be trying to destroy his reputation, the smsm has more influence than they are prepared to admit.

  23. JAMES………………

You need to calm down………………..seriously……………….it’s just a game of fitba’ at the end of the day.

This year, since January, my family have suffered ill health, a bereavement, a redundancy.

And I should worry about who the next manager of Celtic is?

I hope your life is good.

    I really do.

  24. Go tell the Spartim on

    Gftb

What was BR’s last job if you want to make it relevant

Sacked from Liverpool not mutually consented by Hibs

Lenny is a great Man in my eyes but he’s not the answer

    He has my support

  25. PHILBHOY:

HH my man. I hope the best of the last 12 months are the worst of the next 12.

Love and respect to you and yours mate.

  26. Lawwell has his puppet.

Expect KT to be sold within 12 months.

    The bean counter has won.

  27. Canalmar

I have no axe to grind with you, sir.

I have had an emotional investment in Celtic for c 50 years. A financial one for nearer 30.

I advised against any announcement today.

Clearly, my words no longer carry any clout.

Regardless, I will celebrate today. I will live in the now (c Jim Morrison)

  28. James F 9.19pm

    Internet loon ???

I enjoy your posts on here, whether I agree or disagree .. but like it or not Brendan got the bullit at Reading & Liverpool and walked out on Celtic and Watford ???

Canny slag Neil about Hibs & Bolton and put him up against a guy who was on gardening leave until Dermot & Peter gave him £40k @ week… if you want a superstar manager be prepared for him to “midnight flit” when somebody else buys his “soul”

got s feeling Leicester won’t get his life even though he wants to give them it

  29. eddieinkirkmichael on

When the finale whistle went today I , along with many others, breathed a hugh sigh of relief then let the emotion of our achievements engulf and overwhelm me.

To say I was happy would be such an understatement at that moment in time. Then while wallowing in the glory of it all a tweet caught my eye and immediately my entire mood had went from euphoria to dejection in an instant.

Lenny had the gig, were did that come from, how, why, is this a joke. So many questions, so many emotions and nothing absolutely nothing in my world can do this to me like Celtic does.

Trying to put all this to one side, I travel to Glasgow for the TT parade. Oh holy Jesus only in Glasgow can this happen, parade rerouted at the last minute, on Police orders, with no announcement to fans of alternative route. Could such a joyous day be spoiled any more? Who knows but if you know the history you will be familiar with these feelings.

  30. CANAMALAR IT LOOKS LIKE OCD OBSESSION:

Lol, I’ll tell you what i find curious here … and honestly, it’s given me my best laugh of the whole night.

You, who believes that Lawwell IS the Devil Incarnate, he said tonight that Lennon is the best person for the job. The best candidate. And I’m sitting here and calling that utter cobblers … and you believe it. You who supports this decision wholeheartedly, and probably believes Lennon will be backed!

“We will be stronger next season,” says Lawwell, and I LAUGH at that because it’s just a joke, it’s just so obviously transparent guff because the REAL question is “stronger than we were before THIS one?”

And I’m the one asking that, and you are with the happy clappers.

Man, oh man, this is a strange night, I’ll tell you.

  31. See when you wake up in the morning, have a wee think about what we have achieved in the last 8 years.

If it doesn’t make you feel chuffed to bits, post on here how you feel.

I am not worried about Neil’s future tenure as manager. Jaysus he might take us to 11 and win a European trophy.

    Then he might not.

But, that’s for tomorrow and the day after…………………….

Enjoy what’s good in your life today……………..and be thankful.

    HH and good night.
