  1. Blogger John James might have a job trying to convince anyone now that he has sources inside CP.

From his site on the 19th:

“Peter Lawwell attended the aforementioned meeting. He then flew back to Glasgow to meet David Moyes. One of my three sources stated that their negotiations were successful. Mr Moyes will be looking for a place to reside in Glasgow.

I am reliably informed that Neil Lennon was apprised of his career prospects at Celtic on or before 19th May. He may be tempted by an opportunity to manage in the MLS. I wish him every success in his future endeavours.”

  2. JAMES………….

I accused you of being a hun in a post earlier tonight.

Of course I know you are not.

    Sincere apologies.

  4. WeefratheTim on

    Good evening all,

I’ve already mentioned my ill heath, so it gives me great pleasure to watch the greatest football team in the world lift an amazing treble treble. Well in to my seventies, Celtic have never, ever let me down, even when you know who were at there cheating best. Feck them and let’s go on and put them in to administration again HH

  5. GFTB:

Well mate, you make a good point and you’ve asked a fair question.

The only answer I can give you really is that I wouldn’t have traded the Invincible campaign and all that came with it, right up until today, for anything. Rodgers walked out like a mercenary toe-rag but that has in no way devalued for me the accomplishments of that man and this team, and one of my biggest fears about Lennon is that he will dismantle a squad that has won everything in its way instead of building on it.

This does feel like the end of an era to me tonight, it feels like a wee bit like what my old man once said about Seville … it was as if they took us to a high place and let us see what the future COULD be like and then basically took us somewhere else and said “this is what it really is.”

The Rodgers appointment was the highest we’ve ever reached … and yes he was always destined to leave when the opportunity came, but he moved us forward, he raised our expectations, he made us believe.

Tonight we’ve appointed a guy who left the club five years ago, in part because he was bored with the job and chafed against the restrictions placed on him in it. And people think those restrictions will be lifted for him when they weren’t for the last guy, the genuine A lister?

Lennon IS the restriction. Lennon is the evidence of the ambition they REALLY hold for us.

You know what scares me to death? That even Rodgers wasn’t a sign of ambition, that it was just a rich guy acting out of pique because some huns said nasty things to him in the Hampden boardroom. That our future turns on such whimsical nonsense as that.

  7. GFTB:

Come on. Rodgers might have overplayed the “Celtic man” thing to a fare-thee-well …

But Rodgers didn’t fool us about his quality.

I knew Rodgers would be a phenomenon. That’s why I placed him number one on the list when Ronny left, why I wrote it at the time. I watched the football that Liverpool team played, I listened to him outline his football philosophy and talk about his ideas and I knew that guy would demolish everything in front of him here. It was a certainty, an absolute no-miss.

And he exceeded, by miles, anything I thought he would do.

Whatever else he might have been, that was not hype. He delivered big time.

  9. I always know when its bedtime……………..I nod off on the settee, emdy else dae that?

  10. We have made history today. And, for that, we should all celebrate

We have also made a hugely important managerial appointment in haste. One could cynically suggest that emotion was in play.

I believe we have made the wrong decision. I reluctantly see that James F called it.

I will now walk the dogs and consider this in due course.

  11. glendalystonsils on

I believe that it’s Lawwell and Desmond who have put their credibility on the line with this appointment , and not Neil Lennon. If he succeeds (and I hope he does) , everyone’s happy. If he doesn’t he will be away , Celticdom will be in ferment and the two who hold the reins will be going about their business as before.

  12. I have stated on here on several occasions that I didn’t believe Lenny was the man for the job. I still don’t but I’m not going to allow the Board/PL’s unprofessionalism spoil what has been a momentous day in my life. Monday or Tuesday may be a different matter.

What I will say is Peter Lawwell will be laughing all the way to the bank.

  13. Weefrathetim 9.38pm

Hope the 80s & maybe the 90s are even better for you, get yourself on here more and if somebody annoys you have a wee laff and scroll by :-)

    James F 9.39pm

Can’t disagree but will try and counter

How about Neil is a bit more experienced, might now realise his earlier mistakes, and might even had a close look at Brendan and might even think that Brendan has opened the door and Neil can reap the rewards, not sure what age you are James but am pretty sure every single person on here would love a wee bit of hindsight after any job… any chance that Neil might be a better manager than the former Bolton & Hibs boss :-)

  14. Night all!

Prayers will be said for those in need this night.

    God bless.

  15. James F 9.44pm

I loved Brendan … and everything he brought us… I think that’s what annoys me the most :-(

  16. prestonpans bhoys on

Today is about the treble treble, the new manager is fir tomorrow, enjoy tonight and think how they across the water ?

  17. Philbhoy 9.50pm

Sleep well… at least you fall asleep on the couch… I get told to sleep on it :-)

  18. GFTB:

Since taking over on the “interim basis” – a joke as Lawwell told him he could have it as long as he didn’t blow an eight point lead, which, by the way, but for the form of the club across the city he almost did – I’ve watched the team in every game, I’ve listened to every press conference.

And the team has been rank rotten. The performances have been dreadful.

And in that time he’s blamed the players, blamed the tactics (which he said he kept because the players understood them) and then, last week, he turned on the fans.

And all this whilst under the bare minimum (actually, if he had those guarantees zero) pressure.

You reckon this ends well, going for nine in a row, with the combined weight of the media, the SFA, and the assorted hunnery arrayed against us, with a support divided on the appointment and many of whom will never trust another word they hear out of Parkhead again?

And I’ll keep on saying it becasue it needs to be said … with the uncertainty over what happened at Easter Road still very much there in the background, with what we do know about it abundently clear … he lost the Hibs dressing room, a dressing room which wasn’t filled with winners and guys who for the last three years have been used to a very different management style than his.

What can possibly go wrong? Everything.

  19. NO Attention Seeking Roasters/ Chumps on here is going to spoil MY Glee/Happiness at witnessing something that is beyond My wildest dreams…Glasgow Celtic FC…Treble, Treble Winners !

For those who like to point out some of Neil Lennons poor signings in his 1st stint as OUR Governor…Name me ONE Single Manager ANYWHERE who has NEVER made some poor signings……..Jock Stein…” joe Filipi…John Dowie etc etc ?

So to the ” Heaven help us Brigade”, who CLEARLY ” Dont love Neil Lennon to bits”….. away and support the Deid Club…cos I would guess that some of You…if not most of You Never Contribute a Thin Dime to Celtic FC, simply because Your too feckin Miserable.

Im NOT slagging off any Guy/Girl on here who ACTUALLY puts Money into the club, and attends whenever He/She can…Im SLAGGING the feckin Chumps who probably havent made ANY Attempt to be at a Celtic game in the last 20/30 years, but THINK they can come on here, and SLAG OFF our Manager Mr Neil Francis Lennon after delivering a Treble Treble, with a Squad of players who mostly appear either NOT good enough, or Out On Their Feet…NEITHER which is the Fault of Neil Lennon !

Heaven Help Us…If these feckin Chumps/Roasters are allowed to continue to Post on here, or allowed out on their own !

Heaven help ME…IF ever The feckin Scroll on by Wheel on my PC Mouse breaks down..

Thank you Celtic FC for something that I thought I would never see, and Thank you Neil Francis Lennon… A TRUE Celt !

    BRAW,

How the devil are you ya pimpernel? Lol. We are all well after my terrible time with ill-health. I, at last appear to be on the mend, thankfully. Hope you and your crew are in tip top condition. Btw, still have the coal fire. Lol. Great to blether again. HH

  21. Not long in from the game, delighted with the result, but brought back down to earth with a bang with the news about manager appointment. Honestly cannot believe it

  22. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

He brought it on himself, how can that possibly work positively for Lenny :)

All hail Lenny a footballing god, name another manager in the footballing world that delivered a treble treble?

You seen it here today for the first time in your life

    GFTB

Thanks buddy, great to talk again but there are people out there who appear to not want me posting on here. I don’t know why, but I can do without the shit. Love talking to ghuys like you, but not worth the hassle. Let’s support our team after an historic TREBLE TREBLE. HH

  24. CANAMALAR IT LOOKS LIKE OCD OBSESSION:

    Lennon delivered a Treble Treble?

I must have missed that. Cause what I watched was a guy who inherited a team who’d already won the first two trebles, the first domestic trophy of this campaign, and were already eight points clear in the league.

That’s the reality I was watching, but then, I am as you said a “loon” so perhaps I shouldn’t trust that.

  25. What is the Stars on

Anyone who beleives the fairytale that Dermot Desmond hired Rodgers because some nasty huns said nasty words at the Scottish Cup Semi final a few years back has not been paying attention.

Like most nonsense that appears on the internet that is bunkum…

  26. Point of order (Mr chairman)

I am neither favourite uncle nor big Jimmy

My inane retorts are mine and mine alone.

I was fortunate to catch up with a fine Celtic man today, who is a champion on the scotch whisky industry.

We chatted, lambasted then eventually faltered.

Should you be here, David, I thank you for your company

  27. James F 9.55pm

Stuff Peter Lawell & the board, I have never been attached to any Celtic board … the internet gives them relevance … if Neil was asked to deliver league & Scottish Cup … remember his early games tynecastle & Easter road in the cup, two grounds the ex-Liverpool manager struggled at, in fact not sure the ex-Reading manager ever enjoyed a win in Leith

I go the other way … what could possibly go right ? Everything
