  1. When we were 6 behind the Huns, I would gladly have taken 1 ahead at this stage,

However I’ll admit to being worried,

We had a terrible start to the League but we fought back brilliantly and looked really good against The Huns & Motherwell, however since then we huffed & puffed got out of jail a couple of times but you can’t keep doing that,

A draw away to Hibs is not a total disaster but we are looking like a tired team,

In first few games I thought we had won the watch with Hatate but last few games he has been disappointing.

The League is still there to be won, even if the Huns win today, we still lead the League and winning it is on our hands,

I think we have now gone 27 Domestic games unbeaten and I think that fact has to be borne in mind by those on here who tend to go overboard on their criticism.

  2. the long wait is over on

    Can’t win them all.

Didn’t see much of the game so can’t comment on the actual performance but if we can repeat the form of the last few months – esp usually winning when we don’t perform – we’ll be grand.

  3. timhorton

Spot on mate. We can point fingers wherever we want but the truth is every side plays

like that against us. Maeda has a chance through on the keeper. Kyogo scores it for me

that was why he was risked in the cup final. We have had a good few narrow results

we just have to get on with it and hope Gio is fit for Wednesday. We nned him up front.

  4. Gutless today celtic.enroute from the game.a poor celtic team I watched the the day.need to kick them up the arse big time ange

  5. Bodo/Glimt only won their league by 3 points with Molde second. They won 18, drew 9, and lost 3. We know we can’t win every game but it’s hard not to speak out of frustration when the wins are not convincing and draws result from poor game management and even worse player performance.

We have a big squad but it’s hardly to our advantage it seems. We still rely on a few to get results and when they’re out of sorts we don’t win or win in an unconvincing manner.

One substitute in a must win game when many are playing really poorly surely tells you something?

For the record I though JJ Starfelt and Taylor contributed a lot. CCV good defensively but slows down the transition to attack. I don’t think we should rely on Big Joe for next season.

    Our midfield is insipid.

What do we do when defenders double up on Abada and Jota?

Why do we keep putting high balls into the opposition box when our players are small?

  6. Disappointing day. Too many not at it today. But as others have said, no team has ever won a title without at least a few below par performances. Whatever happens we will still be top tonight and there is no guarantee that Sevco will win either. After this round of matches we will have played 2 more away matches than home matches, TFOD have the reverse of that. And their form on the road has been pretty sure of late. In short, long way to go and I’d still rather be in our position than theirs. KTF and let’s see where we are at teatime. HH

  7. Lisbon Lions draw at home, calls for one-dimensional all out attack manager to resign.

    Trivia

Jimmy Johnstone recovered from the knock he received against Dukla Prague which had kept him out of the Scotland international.

Tommy Gemmell who was injured in the international also recovered to start this game. McNeill had also been carrying an injury of an abscess on an old hip injury but was passed fit.

Soi too was Bobby Lennox who had picked up a knee injury in the Wembley international.

A warm welcome on a wild and windy night was given to Simpson, Gemmell, Wallace and Lennox who were part of the Scotland side who beat World Cup holders England 3-2 at Wembley four days earlier.

This point gives Celtic a three point lead from Rangers with three games remaining, both having played 31 games.

Aberdeen defended stoutly commonly with 10 men behind the ball in this dress rehearsal for the Scottish cup final on April 29th. Tommy Gemmell still looked as though he needed some time to recover from his ankle injury but he was not the only one in the Celtic team that looked less sharp than usual. Bertie Auld, Jimmy Johnstone and Bobby Lennox all looked to be out of touch

Celtic lacked their usual sharpness in attack and Stein consoles himself that his side are another point nearer the title.

  8. One night in lisbon

who was going to win any balls bombed into the box ? who won those that were ?

  9. Tactically we were atrocious today. 21 crosses only met one celtic player, and was offside anyway. 39 free kicks, nó goals. I played last week, rubbish pub team football, their guy scored a wonderful free kick 90 minutes.

One goal all season from a corner, out of more than 200 corners. Yet Aberdeen, RC, cheats, abt 6 teams scored against us from 3 of their corners.

Ange is supposed to be a master tactician and he has done wonders,

BUT HOW CAN HE MISS THESE STATS.

  10. Ange ball is becoming a straightjacket.

It has to allow for occasional variation when the situation demands it.

You can almost sense the players looking to hit a long ball and then realising they’ll get bollocked for doing so and making a short pass instead but having dithered over it they’ve cut down their options.

  11. Brian F

Their form and performance matters in terms of if we can win the league.

Ours won’t be good enough on its own.

We need them to lose at least 1 more game and probably 2 or 3.

  12. On the bench today – Bitton, McCarthy, Ideguchi, Bain, O’Riley, Forrest, Ralston

Welsh Dembele. Ange made the only sub open to him. Give the guy a break

  13. Midfield not performed since Sevco game and that is a worry as we are almost in the territory of doing same thing, expecting different outcome. Maeda is not the answer on recent showing and we need to get a turn out of Abada and Jota more consistently. Ange has credit in the bank but given last few performances he should not be above scrutiny.

  14. Frustrating today but we’ve been to Hibs, Hearts, and Aberdeen twice. Livi and Ibrox coming up again before the split.

If Ally McCoist was doing a fixture list, it would look like the one we’re playing.

  15. Maybe I missed it, but has anyone identified the benefits accruing from ‘deprioritizing’ the Europa Conference Cup? It may end up with our rivals cutting our lead from 3 points to 1, following their taking 6 off the second placed team in the Bundesliga and reaching the last 16 of the Europa Cup for the 3rd year in a row.

A 5-1 drubbing from a team from inside the Arctic Circle, with an average gate of 3,500, a ground like Forfar’s, and a minimal European pedigree. 180 minutes without scoring a single goal, or even looking like it. Good decision, Ange.

  16. Markie

Surely Forrest could have done more than Jota ?

Surely Ralston with Juranovic further forward and Abada as centre would have made sense ?

  17. yes , i know were pish today, pish during the week and have been a wee bit lucky in recent games but remember what MON ? said “Celtic fans are pessimists who hope for the best”. So on a day like today, we’re just pessimists.

  18. Big Georges Fan Club - Hail, Hail, Wee Oscar on

Just on the way back and saw some of Anges comments, looks like he was watching a different game from us

  19. I would go 3 at the back gives us 2 in the box at least, and another in central midfield which is dire , they might just pass it back as they do now though, McGregor a prime offender.

  20. Ps

    Karma doesn’t allow that crap

We’ll throw the bodo game and beat Hibs

    That’s not how it works

Also that from starfeld in 90 minutes, chasing a goal.and conceding a corner, was the craziest football I have ever seen.

Who’s in charge on the pitch?

Tactics are absolutely pathetic in terms of stupid passes from starfeld to CCV, and easily worst set pieces possibly in world football.

  21. Burnley78

    Yes that’s fair.

I would have made the Ralston / Juranovic move but few would be looking for Forrest ahead

of Jota. Even with Jota poor today. We are short of attacking options. I knew we would struggle with Gio out.

  22. AP really needs to try and mix it up a bit up front, when we are chasing it,Abada through the middle, Maeda wide right, Dembele on to try something different, it gets very predictable….

  23. Their difference in away matches played, does not get evened out.Check the fixtures.Dont think anyone is complaining about a 0-0 draw.It was the manner of it.We all watched, slow ,laborious, poor passing. It was horrendous viewing. To have 6 forward players with that amount of talent, you would at least expect some decent play.Only Juranovic looked as if he knew the importance of the game.

Hatate.I said 2 weeks ago on here,he was looking as if he had some problem. He is looking uninterested. Not the guy who exploded onto the scene.Rogic is like Forrest. If he has a 1st half stinker, you just know he will not get better second half.O Riley made some improvement, but was really up against it with the others.

I have no problem with players playing poorly, every player has off days.I have a problem with a manager continuing to watch it,and do nothing to improve the situation.Lenny got slaughtered for it last season, and ,as much as I love Ange, will not let him off with it.

  24. Ange is happy with the performances over the last few weeks.

    He’s on a different planet.

The bench we had today was woeful.

3 defensive mid, a centre half. and a right back.

  25. Turkeybhoy

You may be right re the fixtures imbalance. Time will tell but 3 visits to one from Livi or Tynecastle or Easter Rd will def happen for us. Possibly 2 of them if Dundee Utd don’t stay in top 6.

The way we are trending this will maybe not matter mind you.

Is there another league anywhere in the world where teams don’t play the same games home an away?

It isn’t really a league. But no surprise here. Anything to try to advantage the hun
