    I agree on the mythological nature of some arguments. Equally, there are those used to comfort and console which I find completely irrelevant

     

    Larsson had a shite debut

     

    Barcelona had small players

     

    The Lions drew games

     

    No one had heard of Win Jansen

     

     

    All trotted out whenever some posters raise valid concerns.

     

    Cool heads and honest assessments needed to win this league.

     

    I had low expectations as we had a complete overhaul from last season.

     

    We have started far better than I’d hoped. However, I don’t lose sight of the fact our nearest challengers changed ther entire mgt team part way through the season.

    Not often you will see myself and Ernie agreeing,but when you have a speedster like Maede up front,the odd long ball over the top can payoff.Hibs were not camped on their 18 yard line the whole game.Not once did we try it.Just what is the point of Maedas pace,if its never used .

    Ànge should be playing doak. Doak is miles ahead of anything else for the b team. Summers looks decent too. If these two don’t get game time before the end of the season it’s a sacakble offence in my opinion.

    when the Huns changed their entire management team it was forced upon them, and a fair few of their hotheads attributed our league position to that, but, like the Willo window, it’s a bit of a myth too. They were dropping points under Stevie G and Van Bronkhorst actually steadied their ship, before they lost to us. He has a 70% win record with them, losing only to us, and just had two tremendous Eiuropean results.

     

     

    Ange has a near 69% win record but has had to overcome an initial squad that was thin on confidence and/or desire to stay. He had to cope with fleshing the team out with untried youngsters until he got a few trusted bodies in.

     

     

    By any standards, Ange has transformed this team and got us into a position that few predicted ( I always believed that the Ibrox lot were a softer target than most did but I never thought the league target was easy and it remains in the balance).

     

     

    I will clebrate like mad if we do it.

     

     

    But I will not call for heads if we fall short.

     

     

    Now, I’m off to watch the second half of the B team game

    Regarding the long ball –

     

     

    I agree with Ernie that we should be open to playing one when it works. In the home game v Bodo/Glimt I was up in the gods and they were defending very high up at points – a simple ball over for Maeda to run onto would have caused them problems.

    BTW- 9 managers have been sacked already this season in the EPL. watford have sacked two.

     

     

    All were done to appease a disgruntled suppport. very very rarely does it make any difference to the long term prospects of the team concerned. A small dead cat bounce is the best you can hope for and even that is rare. It is mostly preparing a sacrifice to excuse relegation

    You know my position is usually a fairly positive one on most things Celtic.

     

     

    Today I can’t agree that there were not a whole host of worrying signs which all seem to be ‘works in progress’ manifesting themselves since the second half v Motherwell.

     

     

    We do not appear to be heading in a positive direction by almost any measure in my view. It is even more galling as our rivals seem to be doing the opposite.

    Their home form has never been in doubt, their away form is terrible, 3 draws and a loss in their last 4 games. 4 out of their next 6 domestic games are away from ibrox.

    Why didn’t Ange change anything in the second half, instead of persisting with the same feckless tactics? If he wanted to continue crossing into the box, he could have taken Maeda off, put Jota on the right, Abada and Ralston in the middle ( we know he can jump, and can reach headers ). He could also have taken Starfelt off, and put Forrest on the left for the last 15. He had options.

     

    Being a one trick pony is not going to cut it as a manager.

    I agree with this wholeheartedly. We are much better than I’d dared to hope pre season.

     

    Expectations are greater and frustrations may have come sooner as a result.

    That said, it’s difficult to now backtrack and not be disappointed with some of our games, incl in Euro

    if the hibs players had put in as much effort during the game as they did at full time slapping each other on the back they might have made a game of football take place other than wanting to make the oscars nominations.

    Really disappointed with todays result.

     

     

    However, we were told from people who knew Ange when he managed at his other teams in Australia and Japan, that he builds teams, and that it tends to be the second season that would bear fruit.

     

     

    Compare and contrast to the end of last season, at the end of today we will still be top of the league and we have silverware in the trophy room.

     

     

    How many of us would have predicted that at the beginning of the season, given the state of our depleted squad, a new incoming manager, some new recruits, the want away payers and the injuries that have trouble the Managers team selection throughout this season.

     

     

    ‘Faithful through and through’? ‘In Ange we trust’?

    Part of the game of football is corner kicks and set pieces , Celtic unfortunately are very very poor at both , I’m only saying what has already been said on here , we have no threatening players ready for a cross ball , we are to wee .today Abada and Jj we’re putting good balls into hibs box on a good few occasions only wee Meada sp was in the box poor stuff . Something’s gone wrong , only a few weeks ago we hammered that mob we had them down . Unfortunately a few of our most talented players have fallen back , why they continually get picked is a strange one . It’s still in our own hands but playing like we have the past few weeks doesn’t bode well for us being champions . HH
