I thought Brown was MOTM today despite Sinclair’s goals.
McGinn started off well against him but Scott showed he is the midfield master.
Had McGinn been in a Celtic jersey he would have picked up at least a yellow as he was given a free hand to continually foul.
Scott was inspirational and covered well for Callum who was often posted MIA in the second half.

Hello this is WEE BGFC. Just back in the car. Havent been on in a while so ill sum up the last three games. Celtic 5-1 Motherwell: First doin weve handed out in a while. Eduoard done well but people got far too carried away about him. Wee Jimmy done great. Celtic 0-1 Anderlecht: Got through! Poor performance. I dont know why Brendan started Dembele when he wasnt fit instead of Griff and then puttin on Eduoard. Puzzling. Armstrong looked like he was on the wacky. He didnt know where he was. Hibernian 2-2 Celtic: Whens Brendan goin to find out that Griff is his best striker? Immensely frustrating game. Defence was all over the place. Sitter at the end. Failed to capitalise on alot of chances. We would have won if it wasnt for the tory assistant calling Sinclairs third offside. Still unbeaten. Unlucky.
As a pro, I hope every player gives 100% every game … but we all know that isn’t realistic. Some games (either because you love them or hate them), you want just a bit more to be on, do your best and prove a point.
So, I think LG! Being at Hibs, would have given us that little bit extra today. I would have had him in from the start… and, if not starting, certainly at least a decent run out.

John McGinn definitely looks the part playing for Hibs. But has he got the mental attributes needed to become a Celtic regular . Especially in a European context.
Ability is not the only requirement as we know only too well.
Anyway 68 and counting. The journey continues, although it’s stuttering.
The player hasn’t been born yet that doesn’t make a mistake though.
Boyatta’s come when forcing the ball ie going forward. Suspect it’s a confidence issue.
Ajer in the times I’ve seen him offers a wee bit more going forward anyway. More likely to replace the Bosnian than Boyatta ?
Brown is the fulcrum that you describe Biton replacing ? Or do you want two in there ?

Since Hibs have taken 4 points off us and they were not in the top tier last season perhaps the reason lies there?
Traditionally Easter Rd is a difficult venue and Hibs before relegation were capable of taking the odd point at CP too.
So another way to look at it is the league is becoming more competitive, especially with arrival of managers with EPL experience. Killie and Ross County are no longer cannon fodder and Lenny of course had experience of English football.
McInnes is of a reasonable standard as is Tommy Wright and I’d expect Hearts to become more difficult to beat as the season progresses.
Motherwell did OK in their first 2 games v us too.
In short it’s not that we have deteriorated, on another day it could have ended 4 0 or 4 2, but that other teams are more difficult to beat and that explains the points lost difference.
It might come as a shock to some but that is how football is supposed to be. Competition makes players try harder and for 3/4 of the game we were on top but unusually tailed off, perhaps a mixture of complacency and tiredness.
Summing up I would say if we are using the points lost comparator as a means of measurement the performances of our rivals cannot be dismissed.
Gordon64 on
We have no one to blame for today’s result other than ourselves. I counted at least 3 sitters we missed and we gave away 2 poor goals. Credit to Lustig at the end for making it 68.

Reading all the bits & pieces from the game I am happy to report that one of our goats has escaped.
The current un -tethered goat is Dedryk Boyata, now perhaps if he had scored with that header near the end he might now be a Celtic Legend but he didn’t and his official status is currently an escaped goat.
All goat ratings will be re assessed after the Accies game.

I never qualified Ntchams potential against any world stars but i do not have a crystal ball like yours.
He has the attributes to be a superstar but career choices will determine if he fulfills like all talented youngsters.
I think he got dropped Gerry because he was off the boil, niggly injuries etc etc, it always happens on here that folk starting getting the idea that the manager has something personal against a player which I don’t believe Brendan has against Leigh.
Like all strikers Leigh will know once you’re out of the team how hard it is to get back in.
For the record I had expected Leigh to lead the line today but I can see why BR left OE in after scoring a hat trick last weekend.
We’ve had a bitty season with injuries to key players and having played more games than anyone else it’s starting to show, Leigh has a huge part still to play this season and I think he’s patient enough to know that.
I posted before that I thought if he wasn’t playing he’d be off but where do you go after Celtic, nowhere mostly:))

Ol Lustig is key to the unbeaten run.
Having endangered it by scoreing an OG at Motherwell that nearly loses it, he then saves Craig Gordon blushes with a goal line clearance at end of 90 minutes.

Thing is I would have hated the blame for losing the record all falling on Craig Gordon.

Like many I can be annoyed at certain players but hopefully I would never pick on one, for me Janes Forrest is having an amazing season considering it’s December and he is in double figures already on the goals front, only mentioned James as over the years I have been critical of him not as much on here but when talking to fellow Celts, I am delighted James F is shutting me up, my only saving grace is my mate used to slate Broony so he is eating more humble pie than me :-)

Anyone else feel our players expectations of ref played a part in their second?
They went down easily today and the ref usually rewarded them.
On the goal Simo was tight to the man who had his back to goal.the guy flopped forward l and Jose straightened up and put his hands up as if to say i did not touch him. This afforded guy time and space to turn and shoot.
Aye okay, so you made an unquantified or definite statement. Fair enough.
Too many other things to do now, must have a look for that crystal ball that has eluded me every time I buy a lottery ticket : we did not lose and every Celtic player is a very good footnballer. Hopefully that is not the start of a debate.

Like to see a good contest and we had it to-day although Celtic always looked in control until the last minutes. Good to see Stinky back to form. Why do Celtic players take so long to take throw-ins
thetimreaper on
Slack passing and defensive lapses in concentration costs us the game. We need to manage the game better than that.
As it stands Bitton is a better option than Boyata and Simunovic in defence, both of whom are shambolic. It doesn’t help that KT is off form and Lustig is coming to the end of his career, the legs have just about gone and it shows. I don’t think Ajer is the answer but he is worth a shot at this stage.
As for midfield, Broonie and Ntcham were brilliant. Ntcham had a great 65 minutes but lost his way towards the end. He will be a top player for us.
Kouassi hasn’t worked and is unlikely to work now. He has barely kicked a ball.
Would expect Griff to start on Wednesday. If he doesn’t it will be instructive as to how things will play out in his future at Celtic under Brendan. If he does start he needs a big performance.
Overall, lot’s to ponder. The 3 points in any game aren’t guaranteed and that’s not what we are used to. 6 games to go until the winter break and there are lots of possibilities to drop more points. Work to be done.

I really enjoyed the game today. Obviously to be two up and not see it out is disappointing, but it’s far more enjoyable when there’s a bit competition in the game. We, definitely need to defend better, but I don’t think that’s the worst away point we’ll gain this season.

Interesting comments about Griffiths and McGinn.
I’ve seen the latter just twice this year both times against the same opposition so can’t comment on his ability with any confidence.
Don’t take first team training every day so have no idea how well Griff is doing.
